The ScoutCast – Episode 207 – Regrets

Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Austin to Benteke or Nacho at this point? Already have Defoe & Costa up front but can't make up my mind.

      Tough one... I'd say Nacho

Just curious: If you didnt have Defoe, who would you get out of Defoe, Nacho, Benteke?

If I didn't have him then probably Defoe because of his form. Nacho is short term and Benteke has tough fixtures coming up after Hull (Utd, Chelsea, Watford, Arsenal).

In reality Austin next 4 fixtures not that good. Almost glad he got injured and prompted me to take another hit for Nacho

    Kelechi Iheanacho.
From one hand he's perfect player to replace one of our strikers (cheap, plays for good team, nice fixtures) but he's a bit rotation risk under Pep.
I think that he will play though. When Kun was out last time he replaced him and scored a goal plus he looked really nice. Guardiola gave him a chance in last UCL game and he scored again. I know, it's Pep and he may make a choice just before the game as maybe even now he still don't know how to field his team.
As I see it I would get Nacho even for a hit as I think he will start and may score one or two this GW. Defo worth a gamble.

Is it too much to expect Pep to confirm if Nacho will start, has he done so before in Aggys absense?

Iheanacho, a great player & someone with an unbelievable scoring record but let's get one thing straight there's no way he's starting 5 games in a row including the Celtic this week!

I'm swaying towards Anichebe as my Austin replacement & keeping the cash to upgrade Gundogan next week to either Payet or Spurs midfielder.

KDB is bound to get a go as a false 9. Nacho is still quite young to play so many in such quick succession. Not sure he'll be mentally and physically strong enough.

By Pep's standards anyway. All part of his rotation philosophy, everyone needs to be 100% for every game.

Pep loves to rotate & has already said he has a number of options in that position.

Even keeps mentioning KDB false 9 but I think Nolito is more likely.

Maybe Nolito v Watford & Iheanacho for the other 3 including Arsenal.

I don't care, really. He can score off the bench too. Owned him last time Agüero was out, and it worked a treat. 6.6 million, what can you really expect? I like the gamble.

he's young, he's fresh. It's a good opportunity to give him gametime. Pep was talking him up a few weeks ago.

            Yup.

Had considered it while Austin was fit but decided to keep for Boro. Seemed like fate.

Decided to go Pieter's to Alonso rather than Diomande to Iheanacho last night before the price rises but never thought to check if Dio's price was close to falling. There went 0.1m for my bench fodder. Ah well.

Anyway, now that I'm stuck with him for another week should I start:

    A) Diomande home to Palace

Basically there are a few contenders for Austins replacement:

    - Iheanacho, may not play/not nailed on - but will score if he plays
    - Defoe - Hit and miss fixtures, but a proven goalscorer
    - Benteke - Poor attacking fixtures after this week (imo)

    And that is about it...

A topical warning given recent chat: Austin was one of my transfers in this week, in a big move that I could only afford on Saturday because of price rises. So while Sanchez, Defoe etc would have drifted away from affordability, I'm now left facing a monster hit or sitting on a player I know is out.
