The Technical Area – Assessing Abraham

After a quiet opening two months, it took a brace at home to Huddersfield to rocket Tammy Abraham – in the short term, at least – to the top of our search for a budget third striker.

Though the Chelsea loanee is clearly full of potential, his supporting cast at Swansea did little to foster any sense of optimism over the early Gameweeks.

Indeed, across their first seven matches, the Welsh outfit had registered a paltry three goals, drawing blanks on five occasions.

On the back of a 13-point performance, however, Abraham has jumped to the forefront of our thoughts, and in so doing has already gained over 156,000 new owners.

Have those of us jumping on the bandwagon identified a canny investment opportunity? Or is Swansea’s centre-forward merely the latest in a cut-priced line of false dawns up front?

In this week’s Technical Area we’ll be running through Abraham’s – and Swansea’s – key underlying numbers across the season and breaking down their forthcoming fixtures to better assess his potential moving forward.

if Rashford has suffered a long term injury, he's a great option

if Rashford is out for 2-3 months, then Martial will get their easy fixtures after Chelsea as well; probably look to get him in then

I mean all three of the city midfielders (ignoring KDB) are around the same price, Liverpool midfielder looks essential next week.. Zaha and Richarlison are both great options.. just don't know if people would find room for Martial in all of that

It will take Bernardo a lot of time to play centrally. Short term he's more likely to start on the right wing and switch positions with KdB in the game, like he did against Bournemouth.

Could be but I just don't see it. He has four very good evenly matched full backs that allow him to field two good ones at any one time.

I doubt he's paired them up for different competitions somehow.

On WC, which front 7 (+ 1 sub) do you prefer?

    A) 3-5-2 with Eriksen & Zaha (Hemed sub)
    or
    B) 3-4-3 with Kane (rotating RLC and Tom Carroll)

    other attackers are:

    Sterling / Richarlison / Salah
    Morata / Kun
