Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Liverpool

After just four goals in the afternoon matches, we could feasibly beat that in the final kick-off as West Ham host Liverpool at the London Stadium.

Having won this game 4-0 last season, the Reds will be heavily fancied to run out victors again, particularly after the revelation that Sadio Mane is fit to return to their starting XI.

The Senegalese gets the nod, with Daniel Sturridge dropping out of Liverpool’s front three to make way. Elsewhere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain earns a first Premier League start in midfield.

However, it’s fair to say that the main focus will be on Mohamed Salah who goes into this contest with five goals from his ten Gameweeks, backed by almost two million owners and with 250,000+ trusting him with the captaincy.

West Ham’s Fantasy assets have long been in decline. Chicharito remains by far their most popular asset, figuring in 13.1% of squads, though he has lost 384,000 owners in the last four Gameweeks.

With injuries and suspensions at the back, it’s expected that they will struggle to repel Jurgen Klopp’s charges.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Any advice?

    Foster • Elliot
    Davies • Jones • Ward • Dunk • Löwe
    Salah • Sterling • Rich • Groß • Carroll
    Kane • Morata • Vardy

    2FT.

Finding it hard to resist doing Foster(CHE) to Pope(SWA) tonight as Elliot(mun) also has a tough game. Would be a double up as I already have Ward.

But then I’m wary I may need to do something about Davies if he’s benched again, as well as anything else that may happen in the internationals. Not sure what to do about Vardy now either.

Backline and midfield is fine. Davies can be benched. It depends whether you want Lukaku or not. If not go for the Keeper move.

I'm fed up with out of form expensive strikers, there's only one striker I need. I'm going with a power midfield instead.

    Elliot pope
    Naughton Jones Dunk Moreno Mee

    Salah Eriksen Sane Mane Sterling

    Kane Abraham Calvert Lewin

I'm feeling good about it with budget defenders more than holding their own this year and these midfielders near enough playing up front anyway.

It looks good for right now but with form, rotation, injuries and suspensions I'm not sure there will always be five quality midfield options and making the switch to another premium striker could prove difficult.

Which defenders priced at 5m or above who aren't Phil jones are people actually looking at bringing in?

Seems to be so much value at the back in the 4.5-4.9m bracket.

West Ham have no identity that’s why they’re struggling. No style of play unlike a Burnley or Brighton. Will be a good team if they get themselves a decent manager as they have a good balance just underperforming.

Yoloing 9 players forward on a corner in the 20th minute of a 0-0 game against an opponent with the pace of Salah and Mané on the counter is absolutely shocking. Honestly I think club sides should consider female managers. Somewhere in the world there is a woman who realizes that doing that is idiotic.

Surman is such a better 4th / 5th mid option than Carroll or Loftus-Cheek. Surprised his name is not on here more, bit of a pack mentally I guess.

        Only stats they matter.

        Surman - 2 goals, 1 assist, 5 bouns
        Carroll - 0 goals, 1 assist, 2 bouns
        RLC - 0 goals, 1 assist, 0 bonus

Didn't even consider him on my WC. But have to say, playing 1st time and haven't followed Premier League all that much in last 2-3 years. Just went with the RLC bandwagon 😛

all i want from a 5th mid is to be cheap and get 2 pts........if they start doing really well, then your tempted to play them, and put someone more expensive on the bench, it all leads to tears in the end

I'd have got him but I missed his price rise. RLC's 5pts last weeks mean RLC is currently the best option I could have got

That week that Carroll hauled and everyone got him auto subbed in for Davies will live long in the memory.

But yeah Surman is looking good.

Yeah he's a good pick! Had him two years ago as my 5th mid I think... Although I think he's just been a bit lucky thus far... He was a very Carroll type for me, 2pts galore...

Carroll was the most reliable 4.5 option at the start of the season and once the season starts, how often can you spare a transfer to change your 5th mid?

He is a good option though.

I wrote about how one of the worst transfers this summer was the wacking amount Koeman paid for Pickford when plainly they needed to spend elsewhere....mainly because there was no need to prioritise that much money by Everton when they could get a really good keeper for a lot less....

Pope is a great case in point at just how many good keepers are awaiting their chance of a manager knows where to look. He's as good as any keeper in the Prem.

?...how could he be better?....I bet a few managers are looking at him and wondering how they've missed him....especially Klopp....

LOL a few half decent games standing in for his superior does not make him as good as anyone in the league.

I agree with Wakey tbh - Lloris perhaps stands apart but you could argue it.

Oh aye...some good keepers about...I did say as good as anybody in the prem, not better.

He's doing his own career prospects a world of good.

Pickford to end up at a relegation club 2 seasons in a row. That would be ironic
