Double Gameweek 22 for Spurs and West Ham

The Premier League have sprung an early Christmas surprise on us today, with confirmation that Fantasy managers are set for our first Double Gameweek of the 2017/18 season.

Spurs’ home clash with West Ham, which was due to be played on December 31, has been rescheduled to January 4 due to transport issues.

This means that both clubs will have a blank Gameweek 21 but play twice in the following round of fixtures.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will travel to Swansea City on January 2 before hosting the Hammers, who entertain West Brom prior to their trip to Wembley Stadium.

Intriguingly, this also coincides with the availability of the second wildcard of the season, which comes into play after 2pm on December 30 – ie, once the Gameweek 21 deadline has passed.

This could persuade many to load up on Spurs assets, with Harry Kane – up against the current bottom two teams in the Premier League – set to prove a huge armband favourite.

Similarly, the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli could earn extra investment after falling out of favour in recent weeks, with the Free Hit Chip another alternative for those looking to retain their second Wildcard for the double Gameweeks to come.

The Kane strategy will be vital. Those who take the striker into the Christmas period must now decide his fate ahead of a Gameweek 21 blank. There is no question that his ownership will take a significant blow following his Boxing Day match-up with Southampton.

There will, therefore, be an option to reserve the transfers to sell for Gameweek 21 and buy back for his potential two fixtures.

Significantly, the Spurs blank features favourable fixtures for teams boasting viable alternatives to Kane.

Alvaro Morata could possibly start against Stoke City, Roberto Firmino may start against Leicester City at Anfield, Alexandre Lacazette is at West Brom, while the Manchester City duo of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus will go to Crystal Palace.

They could all offer the option to replace Kane for Gameweek 21 as a temporary stop-gap.

However, reserving transfers during this period, which will be heavy for rest, rotation, injuries and suspensions, is perhaps wishful thinking. A points hit is an option, of course, though that will put more pressure on Kane’s starts and returns in Gameweek 22.

An FA Cup Third Round tie, which could possibly follow on Saturday, January 6, throws another variable into the mix. Depending on their opponent, it’s possible that Spurs could put some priority on this and Kane’s minutes in this double Gameweek may ultimately depend on their FA Cup opponents.

Luckily, the draw is 7pm tonight, so if Spurs get a lower-league side, we’d surely bank on Kane getting a full run at both Swansea and West Ham. That would then make the Triple Captain chip an option, though given Kane’s rollercoaster returns so far, that would have to be considered carefully.

The double Gameweek adds another intriguing dilemma into the hectic festive period. While it could be potentially highly profitable for those who commit to Kane, it’s a scenario that clearly needs careful consideration and planning based on the information and trends available nearer the time.

I could swear I had more words before posting. Was it the "less than" symbol, maybe?

      The question:
Is Kiko best defender for less than 4.6 going forward? Have Mee/Moreno

I'm having a punt on Zeeglar. I like the name. (not really - the .2 is worth the risk for me, as I look to build value) in 4x sub 4.5m playing defenders with decent fixtures for chrimbo.

Try again on the right thread..l

Funny old game. Only a couple of weeks ago a lot of teams had three Spurs and now plenty were thinking of ditching Kane to end up with none...and here we are with an article to plan how to get three again...

Thinking Free Hit chip myself, unless Harold becomes more reliable in upcoming GW's. If that were the case then it would be the TC chip instead.

Assuming Spurs are still dog over the next few, but we'll bring Kane back in for his DGW anyway (this is speculation I realise, could be he ends up in great form again) which is the best striker punt from GWs 18-21? Was contemplating *shudders* Lacazette... only problem is two of the three good gws in those 4 are away and he has not really performed away. Also, he is a rotation risk...

    DDG
    Mee, Otamendi, Hegazi
    Sterling, Gross, Richarlison, Hazard, Salah
    Morata, Kane

    (Elliot, Daniels, Mariappa, Quaner)

2 FT and 0.3 ITB - thinking Gross & Daniels -> RLC & Christensen and then replace Hegazi and Quaner with Kenny & DCL the GW after?

    Cheers..

Why not?I think he is a good forward against bad defences in the next 3.Tammy and Austin have tough fixtures.

"Not fully fit" Silva left out of City squad for CL game

    https://www.mancity.com/news/first-team/first-team-news/2017/december/shakhtar-donetsk-v-man-city-travelling-squad-announced

Silva has been missing the midweek games for a month or so now, looks like he can't handle more than 1 game a week. Definitely something to keep an eye on heading into the hectic Christmas period

Thought so too, but I can just see Alonso scoring quite a few points over this coming period. I guess Otamendi and Christensen should cover them as I can’t see Francis getting many points now. I’ll need to do it tonight before any price rises.

the quick turnaround has to be a worry for the spurs dgw.
Pointless picking a full back but we knew that anyway. Not worried bout Kane starting both but how good will spurs be at home by Thursday especially as hammers will be well up for that game

They also look pretty awful this season, by comparison. I have Kane, and the DGW news is the only reason I'll hang on to him. And I won't be TC. Big risk/reward if your players get 180mins but it'll be the likes of Song that I'd be interested in. Sub appearances, will be ready for it. Lorente could easily start against hammers.

    Fabianski
    Kolasinac-Moreno-Daniels
    Salah-Sane-Groß-Richarlison
    Kane(c)-Morata-Firmino

    Elliot,RLC,Mee,Fuchs
    1 FT. 1.2 itb.
I was thinking Fuchs to Christensen, then next week upgrade Elliot.sounds good or something else maybe?

      definitely the Christensen plan part
but possibly save in case hazard strikes again, you would need 2 FTs to get him in

Then i need to make morata&groß to hazard&cheap forward maybe?i was thinking that too,im not sure what to do now.its just busy fixtures coming, and i need to fix my team.thats wy fuchs-> christensen was my idea
