The ScoutCast – Episode 249 – Puppetmaster

Granville is the latest of the ScoutCast crew to be struck down by man-flu, and while Az manfully continued last time out, like myself the week before, my old rival is forced to sit out.

But he makes sure he has his say, priming Jonty beforehand to push my buttons on the “honeytrap” that was Jordan Pickford. Jonty plays a blinder on his behalf as Granville pulls the evil strings from his sickbed.

Elsewhere in this latest episode, your community questions steer us to assess whether we should call time on Marcos Alonso to consider cut-price alternatives. We appraise the Arsenal renaissance, get Az all riled up on “JLingz”, while Jonty has his say on “whipping boys”. That, of course, are those teams that are easy to beat and guarantee big returns.

I still believe that this topic was just another excuse to have a go at Pickford, with Granville sniggering over his Lemsip (other cold remedies and goalkeepers are available).

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Chasing in my ML (over 100 points), so need a differential captain...who to pick?

    A) Ayew (BUR)
    B) Walcott (CRY)
    C) Shaqiri (BHA)
    D) Firmino (sou)

First to three gets the nod

Differential captaincy is a dangerous game. Rival captains Salah, Salah scores 3, you captain firmino or whoever... you’re far further behind. I get your reasons but Salah is a tough horse to back against

D - sou are poor defensively but like to play out from back and keep possession. Perfect for Liv's pressing and counter attacking style.

Crazy move IMO. Watching Morinhos moves last week I believe he had one plan in mind. ‘How to drop Lingard in current form and move Pogba to a freer role’ I think he executed it well and I believe Pogba will soon be the creative MF behind Sanchez, Martial and Lukaku supported by Herera and Matic. Just IMO

I'm not sure we could utilise echolocation anyway. Our brains aren't wired to know what shapes and distances different sounds represent.

Depends when it is played of course.
I would value a WC played prior to a bench boost DGW at about 1 more gameweek than your rival. So +- 40 points average and up to 80

Nope. You can change only 15 players and should have one ft usually. So max. benefit theoretically is close to 14x4=54 pts. But because no team should need that much changing, it is less.

Can City and Spurs big guns be concerned by early sub off with an eye on CL games tuesday?

Pep has not a lof of options to replace aguero unless he plays KDB or Sterling as a false 9 for the last 20 min but KDB and Sterling actually are the ones who look like they need a rest the most.

Kane pretty safe from substitution too I believe as the derby is a special game.

Salah maybe a bit under threat of early sub with a game on Wednesday and if liverpool is cruisinf against SOU ?

So, I have both Lingard and Mahrez, currently benching Mahrez. Would you do Mahrez -> Mkhi? and then Lingard -> Ramsey/theo next week? Or save and assess?

As there are 2 weeks between this GW and the next I'm pretty sure Mahrez will play again against Stoke and Bournemouth, both at home. Feels a bit weird to ditch prior to that right?

I’m watching Mkhitaryan and ramsey this next couple of games due to the bad fixtures, I might get one of them but unless they go mental it will be after gw31(I don’t have FH). if you’ve held mahrez for 2 blanks already you’ve got to be pretty keen on him to hold him through another. i’d move him on personally.

Well, the thing is I've managed to get a pretty balanced front 8 with Shaqiri and Wilson playing while Mahrez has been out. I see no problem in playing them this week again, the problem is Lingard but the question is where to get funds for him

if you like the front 8 without lingard why not a downgrade? or else with mahrez back you’ll end up with a benching headache? just something to ponder over

Does anyone still own Christensen? I have no idea who to get.

Looking at Bauer/Martina/Daniels/Ake. I like VVD but I have 3 Lpool already. Looking with gw31 in my mind. Who did you get for him?

I think Charlie Daniels mate. Goal, CS & 3 baps coming up v Huddersfield Sunday I reckon. Plus good fixes & may not have a blank in GW31

Is it finally Charlie Daniels time to shine? He normally gets 130 points a season... he's on 70 with 12 games to go, so should be good for a 5-PPG average from now till end of season?

He's also long overdue a couple of goals & assists. And I need rid of John Stones for someone cheaper to tee up Kun>Kane for GW28.

And best of all he has Huddersfield in an early kickoff on Sunday morning to kickstart his scoring run! What could go wrong...

haven’t heard anything but just wanted your opinion on VVDs role in the team. haven’t got my FH so he’s the perfect otamendi replacement for my team. if he’s regular. what’s your thoughts on him being rotated?

Not sure he plays every week, looks like Klopp is just rotating CB's until he brings in VVD's partner and new GK in the summer.

Am 50 points behind my leader. He s about 24years old and is possibly the most smug person I have met. So naturally, I would some help from you guys.

    DDG
    Alonso Ota Mariappa
    Salah (C) Son Sterling Martial
    Kane Firmino J.Ayew

    Bench. Speroni, Ogbonna, Allen, Holgate

Got 1FT. Thinking of doing Martial to Walcott. Also play J.Ayew over Allen?

    Cheers all.

i like the move and think i’d play ayew like you say. do you both have same chips left? good use of the WC/BB could make the ground up without having to take too many risks.

He has used his free chip. I plan to use my free chip either at DGW or Gameweek 31. I have my wildcard also, plus triple captain and bench boost. So fully loaded for upcoming DGWS

if you use it better you could still be sweet and your team looks solid enough. would maybe upgrade one of your cheap defenders soon though to someone reliable (e.g. Burnley/Swansea def)

I feel your pain - sounds just like my rival. Don't care about the winnings now, I just want to beat him.

Yes to Ayew over Allen. No to Martial to Walcott IMO. Would bank your transfer (last chance for Martial though).

You should see his face in the tearoom. His team is:

        Pope
        Schindler Ogbonna Ota
        Salah Sterling Shaq Lingard
        Firmino Kane Wilson

The way to catch him is ensure you playing benchers.
I don't know his bench but make it stronger than his.

    Alonso - Smalling - Dunk
    Salah(c) - Sterling - Richarlison - Walcott - Deulofeu
    Kane - Firmino

Bench: Elliot - Quaner - Maguire - Kenny
