The Community Round-Up

The international break has given the Fantasy Football Scout community plenty of time to consider how to go about tackling the season run in.

Our community writers have considered when best to use a Wildcard to make the most of the final sets of fixtures, while chip strategy, as well as the optimum players to target, were among the issues covered in our Hot Topic discussions.

We find further insight into the merits of key double Gameweek candidates in our Members table round-up.

The Community Articles

The latest chip strategy to be covered by the community writers is that of deploying a Wildcard in Gameweek 33.

Kimaras’ article argues that the extra information available to those who use it then, rather than ahead of this weekend, could be invaluable.

Elsewhere, Hutch_James has been gathering the thoughts of ‘the crowd’ ahead of this weekend’s games, while Mr Klin of Norway dropped by to deliver his preview of the next set of games in Norwegian top-flight game Fantasy Eliteserien.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With Double Gameweeks and a limited set of fixtures to contend with, careful planning is surely required if we are to emerge triumphant from the complicated season run-in.

Those who have already used their Free Hit chip face the added challenge of attempting to maximise returns in double and blank Gameweeks alike. Our Hot Topic for those without this chip offers some key advice on the best way to navigate the remaining fixtures.

Many of those with the Bench Boost chip intact are looking to deploy it in Gameweek 34’s extended set of matches. Stoichkov has been gazing into his crystal ball to attempt to predict the extra points this chip could net those using it then.

Among the most popular players for those Wildcarding this week is Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan. A key factor is that the Seagulls have two Double Gameweeks in which the Australian stopper has a strong chance of save points at least, according to JasonG123’s discussion.

Romelu Lukaku is another to offer convincing prospects according this week’s discussion on the United striker.

Meanwhile, Southampton and Newcastle players look to be solid enablers for the 11.4 -priced Belgian, according to our exchange on these two often overlooked teams.

We added further to the chatter revolving around the best run-in targets with a look at those who are not appearing in many Rate My Teams despite offering the prospect of strong returns.

One of the popular players being considered is Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is ineligible for his side’s Europa campaign having moved from Borussia Dortmund in January. CloudSky points out that such a scenario will not happen next season due to changes announced by UEFA, which include allowing clubs to field mid-season signings in the knock-out stages of European competitions.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah’s sensational form, including delivering a 29-point return against Watford last time out, means he is set to be an integral part of FPL managers’ teams for the rest of the campaign.

He is already looking likely to be the main armband selection for Gameweek 32, according to our early canvassing of your captaincy plans.

Finally, Red Lightening chipped in only this evening by launching a survey of the top Differentials for Gameweek 32, with Junior Stanislas and Marko Arnautovic among those names circulated.

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

The Members Tables

I’ve created a raft of tables focusing on key double Gameweek assets from the ranks of Arsenal, Brighton, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester, Southampton, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing, the safety score was 85, which saw 60 players depart and 179 remain ahead of Gameweek 32.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-Ups, please email us a summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

So Firmino over Lukaku for the next two?

Firmino could be benched against Everton (again) if they get a positive result midweek. Don't see Lukaku getting a lot at City. Could come down to their scores this week

Too many assumptions made. Why would he bench his best players whilst they have top 4 to fight for?

Rumours of Sterling being sick in the week, and possible rotation with B Silva, would you:

    A) Keep
    B) Sterling to Sane
    C) Sterling to D Silva and Kiko to 4.9 (who)?

    Cheers and gl

Hi Pumpkinhead - good thanks and excited to see how this goes.

Team looks good - we share the same front 8. Some interesting differences in defence though:

          Ederson, Fabianski
          Alonso, Mustafi, Dummett, Lejeune, Fernandez

          Good luck!

Jags won't play the next 2. Not sure about him but he gives me a good 35 game. May change to Swansea but not keen on the 35 game

I belive Bravo needs to play so many games to get a medal. Will you have a playing keeper in all games if he rotated at all. Just one to check

Looks like it is sort of true - but not entirely.

Wikipedia says that 5 appearances needed, but that clubs can request special dispensation. Often this includes reserve goalkeepers.

Watching the scoutcast got me worried about Firminio minutes so a few last minute WC changes.
Basically it's Vardy and Bailly in for
    Firminio and Jones
giving this with enough for Aubameyang and Mustafi to
    Lukaku and Vert for 34
    Good changes?

    DeGea Ryan

    Alonso Bailly Mustafi Morgan Lowton

    Salah Willian Son Mahrez Gudmundsson

    Aubameyang Vardy Murray

I know we are talking Salah here but for the scoutcast to day Firminio is a risk for minutesbut Salah still gets the armband is still a bit of a contradiction.

Salah will likely score again...if Firmino gets minutes limited, he might not score so much. 1 goal/assist is normally his limit...if it doesn't come early, it might not come at all.

And Klopp will be wanting to give Lallana minutes to build his fitness. Ox will get gametime too, neither will be starting in the CL you'd assume.

7 double digit hauls this season, that's only one less than Kane. Vardy has 1 all season.

If he has a FH, he will have Firmino when Firmino can damage him the most. He essentially gets Firmino for one week, and Vardy for two weeks extra.

...and only one since Xmas...and a long string of 7/8 pt GWs featuring either 1 goal, or 1 assist, maybe a bap...hence the statement.

And he never scores the first...it's always goal #3 or #4 in a romp...so if everyone else goes off, points potential vanishes.

Jeez... so much overthinking and trying to convince yourself.

"never scores the first" - are you actually being serious with these claims? Is there a skill in football required to score the first goal? Just because it hasn't happened (which I highly doubt), it doesn't mean it can't happen.

This is like saying before last week that Salah had never scored a hattrick, so he can't. And then he scored 4 goals.

Kane has had a long string of single digit hauls lately too. Is his 'limit' reduced too now?

Ok but go for Vardy or not. Both him and Vardy unlikely to go to double digits often both good fixtures and Vardy has the doubles.
Also Bailly has to be a better pick that Jones and Mustafi can become Vert over say Christensen as I also saved on going Albrighton to Gundmunsson

They're pretty nailed, in good defences, with good fixtures/DGWs and attacking potential. But I reckon they'll prove somewhat poor value by the end of the season compared to Christensen and Smalling.

I would not feel comfortable with Stanislas and Austin in my team but if you're doing the usual TC34, FH35 and BB37 then it's a good setup.

But if you are 100% sure you are going to move him in 34 why are you getting him? With jones/bailly/mustafi there is a chance to keep also in 34. Or are you even thinking keeping valencia long term?

          Yes - and loving it.

Aubameyang, Mhiki, Mustafi, Salah, Firmino, Ederson, Sterling, Alonso, Mahrez etc.

Yeah - have Kenedy (HUD) and Lejeune (HUD) on the bench, so almost hoping Sterling gets a rest...

Sterling is a cash-cow to afford Kane on 36. Can also get Kane in 34 with FH.

Bit lost here - advice would be greatly appreciated! On WC, no FH, BB34. Enough money in the bank for Auba -> Lukaku.

    DDG, Ryan
    Alonso, Valencia, Mustafi, Lowton, Tarkowski
    Mahrez, Willian, Salah, Mkhi, Gross
    Firmino, Aubameyang, Barnes

Will have 11 DGW in 34 + Salah, Firmino, Mustafi and Mkhi. Will have 9 players for BGW35 using 2 FT.

If Kane is back then will go Aubameyang & Mkhi -> Kane & Lingard for DGW34.

    Cheers.

    DDG - Ryan.

    Robertson - Lowton - Morgan - Stephens - Goldson.

    Salah - Mahrez - Willian - Gross - Milli.

£1.6m in the bank to bring Kane later on - gold star???
