FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The fourth round of our FFS Cup took place in Double Gameweek 32, with 64 Fantasy managers narrowed down to a final 32.

Our one surviving former champion, 2EyedTurk, bowed out of the tournament after suffering an 88-105 defeat to the lowest-ranked entrant remaining, Vulken.

Vulken is one of three FFS site users who all progressed to the round of 32 despite having a seven-figure rank (the others being dark91 and cam).

HPCAMPBELL is the only Fantasy manager remaining who sits inside the top 1,000, having seen off Dodgy Keeper 102-84.

Pinball Wizard was the highest-scoring tie winner of round four, thrashing The Boot 121-66.

Dušan Citizen was desperately unlucky to bow out despite registering a three-figure score, being pipped 106-105 by DMERRITT_99.

Moderators Rotation’s Alter Ego and G-Whizz both progressed to the last 32 after fairly comfortable victories, meanwhile.

In the battle between two managers who sit inside the top 10,000, aha_berg prevailed over rselfy123 by 95 points to 71.

The draw for the fifth round has also taken place.

Our highest-ranked manager, HPCAMPBELL, takes on Yasar Khan, currently sitting just inside the top 500,000.

Vulken will have to exact another giant-killing in order to progress to the last 16 as he takes on Lionac, who has an OR of 2,450 after Gameweek 32.

There are two ties drawn between two managers who lie in the top 10k: Lal Toofan v pkalogirou and Profa Benitez v SmoothRossi.

Wanted a 1 week punt with WC being played next week but it's a tough call!
Only player I want out is Fabs but can't afford Schmeichel

    Current team, 1FT, 0.1ITB

    Fabs
    TAA - Luiz - Pereira
    Salah - Mané - Hazard - Fraser
    Vardy - Wilson - Rondon

    Hamer / Rich / AWB / Doherty

    A. Rich > Tielemans (bench Rondon)
    B. Rondon > DCL
    C. Start planning WC34 😉

Why are people so hot on Salah (C) this GW? Saints away is obviously a good fixture but it's no Hud (H) & his last 6 he's returned 3, 3, 3, 5, 2 & 5.

wouldn't say he's more likely to score or assists, gets 1 less point when he does score and doesn't get CS points. there's a reason salah is smashing him on ppm. i tend to factor form in less than most people on here though

                • 10 Years
                5 years, 5 months ago

I mean as an out & out striker he's more likely to score than a player in Salah's position - just as response to you saying Salah is "different class". Form isn't everything of course, but when hes failed to deliver anything significant for 6 GWs in a row it puts me off him as a captain for sure.

My mistake, but it's still Huddersfield. Would surprise me if Vardy got less than 1 goal & 1 assist.

I don't think it would surprise me - he's only had 1 goal & 1 assist in two occasions this year, with the rest being single digit attacking returns. Now, I'm not saying Salah is a fantastic option as he has a lot of questions to answer himself, I just don't think Vardy is a great captain choice in his own right.

It's well documented Puel & Vardy didn't get on though - in the four games since Rodgers came in he's scored 8, 16, 2, 6.

Due to the drop of Felipe "useless" Anderson, i can't bring in Siggy as one week punt .

Who's the best mid to get in only for this week? Budget 7.2

Fraser will make it triple Bournemouth attack.

Mkhi is interesting. You think he'll start ?

        WC will reserved to GW34

        In orders with

        Fabs
        Robbo TAA Pereira Bednarek Diop
        Fandy HAZ Salah McNeil
        Rondon Vardy

Whether is that worth to bring Mane for TAA..
Non playing - Aguero Pogba (both i have no interested to keep for GW34, 35

don't think "form" is particularly predictive so i view most runs of good scores/bad scores as variance. salah has not forgotten how to score a goal

that's at level of individual player, not team.
happy to accept southampton in better form than hudds but the gap between liverpool and leics (nothing to play for) is gigantic

it's extremely rare unless player in question is afflicted by some sort of weird injury or issue in their personal life.the margins are very small and only requires a few things to go against you to start a barren spell

The salah captiainers have fallen victim to the gamblers fallacy.
That he will get his haul next gameweek or this gameweek.
Just because he did not the previous week(s)
They have also fallen victim to the sunk cost fallacy as they have invested a lot of emotional energy into talking up Salah.
If Salah does eventually do well they will use it as confirmation that they were right all along despite missing out on better options in the meantime.
This will be the confirmation bias stage.

thinking short term form is strongly predictive at level of individual is one of biggest fpl fallacies in existence. as above, salah has not forgotten how to score, and does not need to arbitrarily "rediscover" how to do so. imo his chances of scoring now are likely not significantly lower than during a run of good returns. but impressed that you guys know a few a-level psychology terms and hope that helps you justify bad captain choices

Well it has helped me in the last few gameweeks to get of the Salah train. His shoulders are dropped he runs into trafffic he hacks at shots more in hope than anything.
Meanwhile the chief salah apologists on the scoutcast hang on

Of course it is look up gamblers fallacy and then look up a david munday article on this site in the last few weeks about salah.
He solely uses 'underlying stats' to justify picking him as captain and seems perplexed as to why salah did not deliver.
If/when salah does deliver the artlcle will be 'those who kept faith in salah were rewarded..... etc'

I'm not defending Salah (not sure who I'm captaining yet this week, but I might still go Salah just because I don't like Vardy), but surely if one is captaining because of underlying stats it's not gambler's fallacy?

            1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
              • 15 Years

It is because the underlying stats alone do not tell the whole story,
If you watch Salah's body lanaguage and the manner in which he takes shots it is clear he has lost confidence.
Using the underlying stats solely as justification for captaining salah is a false flag in my view.
So there is the excpectation that the stats will be proven right the next week, or the week after, or the week after that.
Plus when milner is on the pitch he does not even get the pens.
Contrast that to Mane playing with freedom and with a smile on his face. The stats don't tell people that.

its a fallacy to believe his stats will not revert to normal and your evidence to suggest otherwise (body language) is very unserious

I think body language how a player looks on the pitch is all part of the game as well.
                  Pogba is another prime example

Have 11 players without doing anything. Can improve by upgrading Fab or Digne both are facing tough teams.

    (2) Digne to Luiz or any 6.0 (my Liverpool slots are full).
