Join our Sky Sports Fantasy Football league

Sky Sports Fantasy Football has launched for the 2019/20 season.

We have set up our usual free-to-all Sky league ahead of the new campaign and you can join us by entering the following pin: 8421088.

Tomorrow we’ll have our first proper Sky article of the summer covering the basics of the game before we delve into more detail in the coming weeks.

There are several differences with Fantasy Premier League, with Sky not being a squad-based game (i.e. you only have to select 11 players on a given Gameweek), transfers allowed between Gamedays and more rewards on the equivalent bonus system for shots on target, tackles and completed passes.

Jorginho (£9.8m), for example, was among the ten highest-scoring midfielders in Sky last season mainly thanks to the bonus points he picked up for passing.

We’ll elaborate more on the Sky game in our ‘How to Play’ article tomorrow.

Yes, but have King. And would need to downgrade Digne to Coleman to do this.

    GW1 BB team, any thoughts?

    Pope
    TAA Digne Trippier
    Salah Siggy Bilva Moura
    Wilson King Origi
    (Gunn Perez Ake Holebas)

I could have been a little clearer but BB GW1 is one big gamble.
Picking 15 player will dilute your side thereafter without the WC.

that's true but not so much if players like Trippier/Ake/Holebas rotate well - WC GW4 is probably inevitable with this setup though

basically AFCON make Bilva, Origi & Trippier more likely to play and Moura should play because Son is banned, Perez we'll know from preseason I hope

      BBGW1 is great!

But I’ve really struggled to put a team together for this one so I think I might hold back and go template chip usage this year.

    Kdb or Vardy

Kdb, as he'll score more points than a 32YO Vardy over a season.

Anybody able to talk me out of Holebas for a 5th defender in a 5 back at 5.0? Rotates well with Stephens, always starts the season strongly, great attacking potential and decent fixtures. Team is below:

    Pope Woodman

    TAA VVD Digne Zinchenko Holebas*

    Salah Sterling Sigurdsson Stephens Dendoncker

    Vardy King Greenwood

Don't think I'd want Stephens and Dendoncker - only one for the bench and nothing more. Maybe downgrade Holebas or Zinchenko and upgrade Stephens?

      1. NUFCAndrew

I'd get a 4.0 5th defender and invest in midfield

  7. diesel001

Still the second half to go, but Algeria in the SF of AFCON means Mahrez gets an extended break and misses GW1. Bernardo nailed at RM and an option?

    1. diesel001
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 4 months ago

Also, probably worth FFS doing a round-up after all the QFs to say which PL players are still left in and which players are out and when they went out. For example, Zaha and Kodija are also playing today and so will likely be on a break that puts their GW1 participation in doubt.

Gomez Guaye and Siggy make Everton tick but all have played a season. I would worry about someone like Zaha if going to another club and getting up to speed.

Would appreciate some thoughts on this draft team please.

Given the dearth of 4.5 defenders, thinking of sticking with a 4.5 keeper and spending a bit more in defence.

My other big question is Sterling (who I'm leaning towards now) or KdB and spend elsewhere.

    Currently 4-4-2:
    Ryan
TAA / VVD / Coleman / Walker (Kelly)
    Salah / Sterling / Siggy / 5.5 (Dendoncker)
    Vardy / Wilson (Wickham)

    Thanks!

Thanks. I’ve got El Ghazi at the moment. Watched quite a bit of Championship football last season and he’s a threat but doesn’t pick up the yellows McGinn does. Villa have nice fixtures after Spurs. What do you reckon?

Been spamming the link to the following article from mathematically safe over the last 24hrs which, in my opinion, is the best article of the pre-season so far...

    https://mathematicallysafe.wordpress.com/2019/07/01/fpl-analysis-what-five-seasons-of-data-modelling-have-revealed-about-predictive-analysis-fixture-impact-and-optimal-team-structure-in-fantasy-premier-league/

This tells us that statistically the optimal budget structure is:
Goalkeepers: £8.5m (one Mid-Price (Lower), one Budget)
Defenders: £28.5m (three Premium, two Mid-Price (Lower))
Midfielders: £45.0m (two Premium, one Mid-Price (Upper), two Mid-Price (Lower))
Forwards: £18.0m (one Mid-Price (Upper), one Mid-Price (Lower), one Budget)

    Loosely following this I get:

    Ryan
    Robertson, digne, Laporte
    Salah, sterling, tielemans, zaha, maddison
    King, Jota
    (Button, ASmith, diop, 5.0)

Will be interested to see other teams or interpretations.

    (Big thanks to Mathematically Safe!)

King and Jota break your theory.
I think the backs will see bigger investment this year.
I hear many stories of 4 4 2 being better than 3 4 3 last year. It was for me.

Hmm. Tried tweaking my squad to get something almost the same. It involved Kante > Maddison and so Laporte > 4.5 (Laporte is my lowest scoring premium behind TAA and VVD).
Madders is a 21 pt upgrade on Kante. The best 4.5 defender last season was about 80 pts behind Laporte.

      Not for me.

          Kane | King

          Button | Dendoncker | 4.5 mid | 4.5 striker

*Could become Ederson & Kelly if Zinchenko isn't nailed enough.

**Struggling for 4.5 defs, could be O'Connell.

          ***Could be Perez

Stars will be decided throughout pre season but the structure is there.

Rafa is well known as a defensive style manager. If we get an attacking manager I would say we are less likely to play for 1-0 wins and more likely to concede and therefore less likely to get clean sheets from an FPL point of view

          • 12 Years

He's not especially defensive. He weighed up the Toon squad and realised if they were more open they'd get slaughtered. Defensive was a survival tactic and it worked. If Bruce tries to be more attacking with what's left of the squad they'll be rock bottom, Ritchie 'n' all.

Not seeing as many teams with Kane and Aguero as i was expecting, any reason why? Kane is the cheapest he’s been for 3 years, he’ll bounce back

GW2 fixture I guess, Salah and Sterling are better too - not impossible to have Kane too I guess but GW2 is putting me off (and no Son)

Seeing more and more with Kane, but most people this year want premium defenders, Salah and Sterling, so there's not enough left for a 10M+ striker, especially if it means 2 10m+ players don't get the armband each week.

Evening all. Any input would be welcome. Thanks all.

    Ryan
    Lapotre - Robertson - Digne
    Salah - Siggy - Fraser - Sterling
    Jota - DCL - King

    (Button) - Cathcart - Dendonker - Kelly

    Here goes...

    Gunn/Button

    Alonso/Laporte/Coleman/VVD/Robbo

    Tielemens/Sterling/Zaha

    Aguero/Wilson

    Bench... Button/Noble/Stephens/Nketiah

    0.0 itb

Do your worst, I need the input.

I would downgrade Alonso to a 4.5 defender

Tielemens could have been over-performing and Leicester fixtures are bad. But if you still want to go there then arguably Perez offers more attacking threat for the same price.

No Salah or Mané coul hurt you badly

      just some food for thaught

Salah is defo my main concern, not so re: Alonso. Reckon Lampard will play Kante back where he belongs, offering more clean sheets with a protected back line, and an attacking threat from Alonso.

Will think about Tielemens, was more of a place holder, but think over the season he might do well.

Pricing has me thinking an unusually (for me) early WC might be in order.

Keane is mainly because Everton have some great early fixtures. I would pick Digne if I had the money itb. Yeah, Robbo/TAA for VVD might be the play

    Willian, Pulisic and Pedro.
Now the main man has left, there still has to be a playmaker
It could be the most intriguing choice in FPL for the season.
These prices are so low for a top 4 side, I think the scramble for one of the 3 is going to be massive.
By week 3 one of the above is going to have 25% ownership.
