The Numbers Game – Something From The Weekend

Our second of three Members’ articles this week revisits last weekend’s fixtures and plunders the Gameweek filtered Opta stats currently available on our test server. This new set of tools, which we hope to be opening up for a Beta test next week, allows the analysis of statistics not only over a specific Gameweek but also a range of Gameweeks.

We took a look at some of last weekend’s top performers to offer you further analysis and to highlight some of the information that Members will be able to discover and examine for themselves very soon…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In that order. I fancy Rooney to fire. Good fixtures.

Berb inconsistent but capable of big scores, bent consistent but does not attract the bp's.

.....Tevez/Balotelli also worth looking at. The latter if you really want to gambl!

Sepp Blatter and FIFA need to be ex-communicated,hung drawn, quartered and burnt.
Where do ya start,i mean seriously, they are a law onto themselves.
They can do whatever they like,Football is in a bad bad way,i honestly think a break-away federation needs to start up,i know it would take generations to fight them horrible people in FIFA but the game is heading for the same fate as snooker and horse racing, the sport has gone ,pigs in suits running the game for money, look at the last world cup,the worst in history, how many games decided by wrong decisions.I can count 9 nations theat were knocked out unfairly not to mention our fiasco (Ireland),but they wont introduce Video Technology because they know they will lose their 'control' over what happens on the field of play.
Then the most legitamate bid for 2018 gets 2 votes because Blatter and Jack 'ticket tout ' Warner decide they can suck the most money out of fans by hosting it in Russia then Quatar, look at 5 of the last 6 WC's Quatar,Russia,Brazil,South Africa,Japan.
How can anyone get to those places without selling their bodies!
Corruption is not rife in FIFA,it is the way the whole organisation is run. I urge people to read Fifa 'how thay stole the game' by David Yallop. It gives a history of the corruption in FIFA since the 50's,its disgusting, read it and i promise you wont look at the game the same again.
Somethings gotta be done, can we cope with another shambles of a world cup? Russia, where your not allowed be black,,and then onto Quatar where your not allowed be gay,u need a licence to drink, and its 40 C at midnight.
I mean whats for 2026 Greenland?
Im sick of FIFA and personally they are turning me away from OUR game the game we all love ,Football The peoples game

Like I said before the result FIFA would get on well with Russian mafia asa Fifa representatives take kickbacks and sell tickets to touts and the Russian mafia are in close relations with Putin according to WikiLeaks so I called it before the result. Plus Qatar is run by a type of mafia as well so they will all line each others pockets at the top and the average Joe in those Countries will get nothing out of hosting the World Cup. As for England they should have said we will host it if you want but should not have spent so much time kissing FIFA's arses. England are better off without the World Cup as far as the cost in security would have been massive adn football hooligans would have ruined our image anyway and there would have been a huge mess. Like I said earlier Osama has probably already targeted the Olympics to attack so that will be enough to take care of for the security for now. We should not bother dealing with crooks and Cameron should have been working on other issues in the UK instead of kissing the arse of crooks anyway. Its better for the whole of the UK that the World Cup and those FIFA crooks are not being paid off by the British Taxpayer. Who the hell wants to go to Russia and Qatar only the gangsters running the World Cup will be there watching, I am glad that those crooks will be out of the UK.

Hope you stay in Russia if you like it so much then you might see that the World Cup has gone to a Mafia run State. The English FA should pull out of FIFA and a new competing transparent organisation needs to be set up with video technology and better off side rules and other changes and the World cup should go to genuine open free Countries. Millions spent on a bid that was never going to win, the FA have to step away from FIFA. The best bid should win but the two worst bids won. So much for FIFA standing up for human rights when they take the World Cup to Russia and Qatar and then China getting the Olympics it just puts these large sporting events in the hands of the worst Governments in the World. Things are going to have to change with these sporting organisations as they are run by gangsters.

Nah, people only said that despite everything they'd still be excited to host the world cup - perfectly fair enough.

If you're unable to distinguish between that and everyone being fine with fifa, then this is a bit of a waste of a conversation.

Anyway, you got the reaction you did because you were basically calling people morally redundant hypocrites for wanting to host the world cup - not because of the point you were making. Throughout all of this the irony that you will still be watching world cups like the rest of us, despite you basically claiming that to be immoral, was apparently lost on you.

I'm tempted now to hold onto Van Der Vaart.

If reports are true, he might make the Chelsea game, and shipping him out would be a big loss in value when you'll undoubtedly be getting him back in once he's returns.

Even if he misses the Chelsea game, he'll surely be back for the Blackpool game, and I think my squad is good enough to cope without him.

As ever you miss the point. Holland - big thumbs up. Australia, absolutely. Give it someone who hasn't had it before - yes please. But not Russia or Qatar.

It's just unbelievable how much quackery that guy can produce. He's either the world's greatest wind up merchant or a stark raving lunatic because no matter how many people tell him otherwise, he stubbornly refuses to accept he's in the wrong.

Either way, extreme ignoring is the way forward for me.

ok i have to vent and get this off my chest. granted qatar can build stadiums w/the money they have that have air conditioning for the players and fans, but what about the millions of people outside of the stadiums for the month long tournament that will flood their streets as the tournament will more than double their population. small nations such as holland and belgium are forced to host jointly due to their size and capacity constraints, how is qatar any different from that, if not smaller?

also, we don't know what the political situation or hostility in the middle east will be in 12 years time, it could be much better, or much worse. they have never even qualified or been close to qualifying for a world cup and all of a sudden are hosting out of nowhere, unbelievable.

environmentally it will be shocking. the only reason players like tim cahill are disappearing in january is because the asia cup is being held in qatar so has had to be been moved from july when it normally takes place.

The view people have of them on here is OTT.

People aren't talking about Russians, they're against the Russian government. There is a distinction.

There were plenty of nice South Africans in the 1980s too. It wasn't their fault their leaders were the scum of the earth.

Fair enough but I actually think this will help with social reform.

My impression was that the Russsian Federation and its laws were still cut off from western world

This will only help imo. More people will go there now in the next 8 years than in the past number of decades. Visa restrictions will be lifted, easier to travel bring s more scrutiny and this will help a number of things

Why dont you think this could be a good thing for social reform?

                    Then Beijing 2008 happened.

I hope you're right. The best case scenario is that Putin and his gang of murderous thugs will be long gone by 2018. I think today's decision makes that less likely though.

Just to clarify (and you can see this if you go back over my comments)

NO problem with Russian people (you get good eggs and bad eggs anywhere) what is more of a problem is the blatant abuse of human rights/ press freedom by the govt, as well as the corruption of local officials (particularly police).

If anything the Russian people are the victim in this.....

No visa required for world cup.

Plus in the summer Russia has a very attractive climate . I think it will be class.

But i would have preferred if Holland got it.

well said tommy, was just about to quote db saying the below ans say the same thing. as usual, hes missing the point

dbronaldo needs his Tevez back. says:
                  December 2 at 7:15 pm

The fact that its going to Russia is a good thing I think. I might help bring down all these stereotypical views of certain people .

The whole process has dirt written all over it (irrespective of which bid you're talking about)

yes, it's true as that many stadiums for such a small country would go to waste when they're not needed. they're prepared to invest 50 billion in this world cup project.

They'd go to waste in 3rd world countries too- running costs far outweigh their potential commercial value.
