Kane and Sterling impress as Mané subbed for Senegal

The final international break of 2019 is already winding down for some countries.

England played their last Euro 2020 qualifying match with a number of Fantasy Premier League assets impressing.

We’ve got all the latest in this Scout Notes article.

Euro 2020 qualifying

Kosovo 0-4 England

England saw Kosovo off by a 4-0 scoreline on Sunday

Harry Kane (£10.8m) and Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) were both in ruthless form for England as they beat Kosovo 4-0.

The scoreline perhaps flattered the Three Lions who did not dominate the final match of Euro 2020 qualifying as much as Gareth Southgate would have liked.

However, his key individuals displayed a clinical edge at the right times, especially in the closing stages of the encounter.

Leading the 4-3-3 attacking, Kane got himself a goal and an assist, lurking at the back post to make it 2-0 in the 79th minute and setting up substitute Mason Mount (£6.8m) for his first-ever England goal.

Sterling’s strengths in this one, deployed on the right flank of the attack (usually playing on the left for his club), was his creativity.

It was his cross that was deflected into Kane’s path for 2-0 and he played a perfectly weighted through-ball to substitute Marcus Rashford (£8.6m).

The recent resurgence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£6.2m) continued in England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier.

He provided the assist as Harry Winks (£5.3m) waltzed through the Kosovo defence early-on to make it 1-0.

That attacking return came after five goals in his previous six outings for club and country.

Unfortunately, it appears that Jurgen Klopp is keeping the former Arsenal man mostly for competitions outside of the Premier League. Oxlade-Chamberlain last started a league match in Gameweek 5 and has managed just 66 minutes since Gameweek 9 from three substitute appearances.

England were less convincing in defence with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m) caught out of position when losing the ball on occasion.

Tyrone Mings (£4.6m) also made several sloppy errors after a less than impressive outing at Wolves in Gameweek 12.

Dean Henderson (£4.7m), Jordan Pickford (£5.5m), John Stones (£5.3m), Danny Rose (£5.4m), James Maddison (£7.5m), Tammy Abraham (£8.0m) and Callum Wilson (£7.8m) were all unused substitutes.

England XI (4-3-3): Pope; Chilwell, Mings, Maguire, Alexander-Arnold (Tomori 84′); Winks, Rice, Oxlade-Chamberlain (Mount 72′); Hudson-Odoi (Rashford 59′), Kane, Sterling.

Luxembourg 0-2 Portugal

Bernardo Silva provided an assist in Portugal’s win over Luxembourg

There was plenty of Premier League presence for Portugal as they beat Luxembourg on Sunday.

Playing in a central midfield role, Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) provided the assist for their first of the night.

He played an excellent chip through ball to Bruno Fernandes who lashed home to make it 1-0.

Diogo Jota (£6.1m), who came on in the 71st minute came close to finding the net himself as he bundled an effort towards goal, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to smash it over the line.

Rui Patrício (£5.2m) and Ricardo Pereira (£6.3m) played 90 minutes while Joao Moutinho (£5.3m) replaced Pizzi in the 62nd minute and Rúben Neves (£5.3m) featured in stoppage time.

Serbia 2-2 Ukraine

West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko (£6.0m) played 90 minutes for Ukraine as they drew 2-2 in Serbia.

Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic (£6.7m) was involved sparingly in the match, coming on for the final 14 minutes.

Albania 0-2 France

Mendy got 75 minutes under his belt against Albania

Just three Premier League players started for France in their 2-0 win over Albania.

Moussa Sissoko (£4.9m) and Olivier Giroud (£6.6m) were the only two that got 90 minutes with the latter hitting the post.

Benjamin Mendy (£5.9m) started the night at left wing-back in a 3-4-1-2 system but was replaced by Lucas Digne (£5.9m) after 75 minutes as he continues his rehabilitation following recent lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Tanguy Ndombèlé (£5.9m), N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m), Matteo Guendouzi (£4.7m) and Kurt Zouma (£4.7m) were all unused substitutes.

Andorra 0-2 Turkey

The ever-increasing ownership of Çağlar Söyüncü (£4.9m) will have been pleased with Turkey head coach Senol Gunes over the weekend.

With the Crescent-Stars having already booked their place at Euro 2020 with a 1-1 draw against Iceland last week, the Leicester centre-back was one of nine players left out of the squad for Sunday’s trip to Andorra.

That should see Söyüncü return to the King Power Stadium fresh and ready for a Gameweek 13 visit to Brighton.

Everton centre-forward Cenk Tosun (£5.7m) ended up missing both of Turkey’s matches through a groin injury.

Moldova 1-2 Iceland

Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.5m) had a mixed outing on Sunday as Iceland beat Moldova 2-0.

Despite scoring in the 65th minute, the Everton midfielder missed yet another penalty later in the match.

Sigurdsson’s record from the spot has been particularly poor recently and this latest miss is his fifth from a possible nine that he has taken for club and country since the 2018 World Cup.

2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Mané played just 45 minutes of Senegal’s win over Eswatini

Sadio Mané (£12.1m) owners need not worry too much about his half-time withdrawal from Senegal’s 4-1 win over Eswatini.

There had been fears over the Liverpool man’s fitness ahead of a Gameweek 13 trip to Crystal Palace.

However, the reason for Mané coming off at half-time was precautionary in nature, the player picking up a yellow card and his international coaches hoping to avoid a suspension in the second period.

Meanwhile, Cheikhou Kouyaté (£4.9m) played 90 minutes for Senegal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) played 90 minutes for Gabon as they beat Angola 2-1, registering an assist for Denis Bouanga.

Alex Iwobi (£5.7m) scored for Nigeria as they had to come from behind to beat Lesotho 4-2.

Southampton’s Moussa Djenepo (£5.2m) found the net for Mali as they won 2-0 while Naby Keïta (£5.8m) played 90 minutes for Guinea as they beat Namibia by the same scoreline.

International Friendlies

Lithuania’s 1-0 win over New Zealand was one of only two international friendlies on Sunday but there was no FPL involvement for either Chris Wood (£6.2m) or Winston Reid (£3.9m).

After their involvement in the 3-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, they were both given the remainder of the international break off.

The other friendly match was between Brazil and Argentina’s respective Under-23s squads, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli (£4.5m) playing the best part of an hour.

Repost sorry. Hoping for a comment from Andy:
Driving home in heavy traffic yesterday and though to listen to a couple of podcasts.
The first one was meet the manager with Marc Southerns. The one thing that stuck in my brain was "accept your mistakes" Don't just hold onto a player because 2 weeks previously you took a hit to get him in.
The next podcast was Andy with the 2 Cockney boys.
Andy says he needs Lundstrum but it does not feel right taking a hit when he got Maguire in 2 weeks before. Andy, listen to your buddies.

Have 1 FT and thinking of shipping out Sterling. Which of the below 2 options is better?

      A) Sterling + McGinn -> Salah + Dendoncker + 1.1
      B) Sterling + Greenwood -> Maddison + Rashford + 0.2

      Rest of squad:
      Pope
      TAA // Tomori // Lundstram // Soy
      Mane // Sterling // KDB // Mount
      Tammy // Vardy

      Skeletenburg // Rico // McGinn // Greenwood

          The $64 million question.
I think it fair to say a premier concern one should have going into this period is a good bench.
CHO Pulisic Tomori are good examples of holding back on the during this period.

Rashford game improves dramatically when Martial is on the pitch. Martial has the edge due to price, position and historical points per minute. I also think he is growing up and sulking is less prevalent in his game. I think big names in the dressing room impacted on his attitude. If Martial and Rashford are treated like no 1 choices, I think ManU standards will improve too.

I hope they can show some consistency though. Pogba should be back in a couple of weeks at the most which should help a lot. I'm most likely transferring in Martial this week.

Yeah I agree with that. Could go either way with them.
Sterling more explosive and a bigger differential so want to stick with him for now. But want to keep the option open to get Salah if needed and if I sell Sterling that would make it tough for me.

Hi guys, some help needed please...

        a. Salah + Greenwood + Sterling to Mane, Rashford and Mount for -4pts?
        b. Salah + Sterling to Mane + Martial for free?
        c. Fix heaton
        d. something else

        Heaton Button
        TAA Rico Lunds Chillwell Dunk
        Salah Sterling KDB McGin Dedonck
        Tammy Vardy Greenwood

Can you do A with Mané, Martial and Ings instead? I prefer Martial to Rashford being out of position and think Ings could be great value with their upcoming fixtures.

Martin Atkinson will officiate Manchester City vs Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Atkinson has handed out 33 yellow cards in his previous 13 matches, sending off one player and awarding four penalties in the process.

          Hi all,

I’m surprised that I’m not seeing more people going for Aubameyang at the moment. Next 4 fixtures are against some of the worst defences and he’s a goal machine! I know Arsenal aren’t playing that well, but they’re still 5th. I’ve got him and I’m keeping him.

          Thoughts?

Plenty of cheaper forwards outscoring him.
            I'd rather have Lacazette.

1 goal in last 5 is hardly captain Auba material. He has the fixtures for sure but will he get the supply? A bit like Kane in price/form and few here have either.

I’ve got Vardy, Abraham and Auba. Have thought about getting Jimmi and a premium mid, but see Auba as a better option than Sterling or Salah for the next few (have Mané and KDB).

FPL price points have been pretty accurate this year. I have Mane Vardy and KDB as reliable captain choices. 11 mil in the forwards can make it difficult to offload. Auba a great player.

He has been playing well, people might think Vardy against Brighton isn't a banker or Mane against a palace away. Chelsea are playing city, no one trusts Spurs or Arse or United. Law of averages. Hope. I could think of these. Not sure though.

              Look at his stats.
              Watch him play.
He’s Man City best player by far.
              Chelsea’s defence are weak.
His stats are proving true for club and country. Unfortunately, hasn’t been in the PL. But returns are around the corner. And the Chelsea game is the best one yet for him.

He's right now very much dependent on other factors like Mendy starting. Not to forget city are basically out of title race meaning Pep will prioritize CL. Hence sterling could be rested in easy pl matches before CL game

I think a no. of factors play into it.

                      - Scoring high in non-league matches.

That’s a lot in the bank! Surely you can get another premium attacker with that much?

Satisfied with my batch of attackers at the moment. I try not to feel pressure to use my money just because I have it.
Who would you transfer out/in, just out of curiosity?

I know it’s not popular here, but I like Auba for the next 4 games, but that would mean taking out Jimi I guess. Adding Chilwell/Pereira to defence for Guilbert or Lowton would be good too. I’ve got Soy and Pereira and been very happy with their returns recently.

                    TAA - Soyu - Lund - ___ - Rico

Is Tomori a good choice or go someone cheaper for the 3rd/4th Defender?

Tomori a good choice, I think.
                      Maybe consider double Sheffield?

Agreed. Jetro looks good and in a Newcastle team that isn’t afraid to park the bus for a clean sheet. I’m a Chelsea fan and love how we are playing, but don’t see many clean sheets.

Chelsea have kept 3 cos in last 3 at home and have 4 of 6 at home coming up from 14.

Mount is a bad fixture. But I am already starting to see a pattern. Id you have 2 Pool defenders, headaches start to appear in starting lineups.

Captain choice is very important this week. Could make up some serious ground if it comes through.

Currently on Mane but also considering Sterling and Vardy. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Morning Folks, which option is better going forward?

                            A) Robbo and KDB
                            B) 4.7 and Salah

OptionA looks more obvious, but Salah is a great option for captaincy in comparison

There are so many cheap defenders that B can be strong as well. A offers two players with massive bonus point potential and depends on Salah’s ankle update.

KDB at his starting price was a set and forget all season for me, unless long term injury. Unless you can have Salah and KDB i would go with A.

                            Advice needed please.

                            Bench one:

                            A) Lund home to Utd
                            B Soy away to Brighton
                            C) Pulisic away to Man City

I can see by reading the papers there is an international break. Not so much about the football, but the lack of it.
When are the money people going to realise there is a limit to the level of fitness a player can reach. Clubs pay the wages and I am gobsmacked they have as many breaks as they do.
Listening to the England manager saying all will fear them after their last 2 wins. How does it get England anywhere having Montenegro, Kosovo and Bulgaria taking up space in a calendar that supporters would hope to watch a decent game.instead of boring crap.
Something must be done; either reducing the premier league to 18 teams or Seeding the Euro teams so that competitive games can be watched. I hope I am wrong when England play a decent side their defense will be sadly lacking.
