Pre-Season

Fantasy Football Scout Pre-season page is now live for FPL 2020/21

It’s back! Fantasy Premier League has relaunched for 2020/21 and, as usual, we’ll have everything you need to set you up for the new campaign.

All of our pre-season content will be collated on THIS PAGE, which will be regularly refreshed between now and Gameweek 1.

It is where you can find our price-by-price, position-by-position rundown of pretty much every asset in FPL.

There’ll also be analysis of all 20 teams, Scout Reports on new signings and Moving Target articles on those switching allegiance.

Any information we learn about the various pre-season fixtures, from line-ups, goals and assists to the wider Fantasy talking points, will also be documented here.

As the transfer window develops, you can track all the ins and outs of FPL assets throughout the summer.

A lot of our content is free but, to gain access to every single article we publish and benefit from all the tools and stats on offer in our Members Area, subscribe from as little as £1.46 a month by clicking below.

Has there actually been confirmation that the teams who are still in Europe will start the season later or is it pure speculation?

GW1 is almost sure for United and City to blank I would say. GW2 likely.

Important to build drafts that allow flexibility to bring on their assets whenever they are ready.

Early WC seems obvious. You'll get priced out if you try to slowly get city and United players in

I don’t understand the rationale for keeping Firmino priced at 9.5. He didn’t have any extenuating circumstances to suggest that he’ll score any better this season.

      Absolutely.

FPL has been very kind in what concerns the prices of several assets, but they got Bobby severely overpriced.

Bobby at 9.5 is extremely strange. How on earth can Jimi, Ings and Martial all be cheaper.
      Strangest pricing in the game.
In reality he shoulda been 7.5 seriously

He still spearheads Liverpool’s attack week in week out regardless of goal scoring form. If you compare him to Jesus (9.5m) his price seems fair.

Many good ones playing OOP this year. Auba, Rashford in particular, but not sure if I have the fund to get them all

So if no blanks were considered, I would say Salah KDB and Bruno.

Considering the City and United blanks I am leaning towards something as Salah Auba Son, with 1m ITB, that allows me to do Auba Son to KDB Bruno when that time comes.

We won't have the funds to get them all in. It's just about being on the right ones at the right time, especially for captaincy.

Our initial picks will be easier if the manchester teams start late but once they're back it'll be some tough choices and opportunities to make ground by being different.

The double up is risky, in fact.

Fixtures pending and fiddling till kingdom come, I am on this for the moment when it comes to players nailed for my starting 11.

    Lloris
    TAA VVD
    Salah Auba
    Werner

Need to wait for Havertz as well who is looking likely to join CHE sooner or later. Problem we all have is who faces City and UTD the first two GW's as possible those teams will blank as well. Plus injures and fitness for all players which will only be updated from those pre match pressers for GW1...

I have put one draft together which I really like and allows me to switch between 442 and 343.

Midfield 5 is not looking like an option as the 4.5 mids which are available are 1 to 2 pointers. Putting together a decent midfield 5 you start eating money from defence.

Lloris will be set forget. Did very well since his comeback.

Ramsdale - been hoping for this transfer. Good goalie and decent defence.

Othewise Macarthy as Saints need season well and are a better side than Brighton by a distance imo. Potter never did defence really when he was in lower leagues. Can't see Brighton improving on last season's record in defence.

Looks like Aaron Ramsdale is going to be Sheffield United's No 1. Any chance he will be 4.5m (finished last season at 4.4m), or is going to SHU an automatic upgrade to 5.0m ?

I think you have to eliminate certain players otherwise you'll be paralysed with too much choice. Rashford - Greenwood - Auba as mids are absolute game changers. Iike Werner and Jiminez, but the mids are so exciting!

You already wrote those helpful hot topics - has anything changed since then?

If not, just let people pick random Leeds options and the rest to have an advantage! 😉

You don't approve of people selecting Douglas and Dallas and still less of Douglas over Dallas 🙂 ?

Anyone else think it’s a bit rubbish that they’ve made lots of forwards into mids this Season?

Auba is not a midfielder and neither is Rashford, they should have simply reclassed Salah/mane as forwards.

The only premium mids left would be KDB and Bruno and everyone would have them. It would ruin the game.

KDB, Bruno, Pulisic, Ziyech, Mahrez, possibly Mane and Son. Still lots of options.

Why would any of these players not be forwards too. Just because rashford and auba score goals and cut inside doesn't mean their position isn't on the left wing. Son, Pulisic, Mane, Mahrez would be forwards as well because they all like to come inside and score goals. Don't know anything about Ziyech

Pretty clear that Salah, Sterling, Auba and Rashford are forwards and that the others are not. Son and Mane are in a grey area though.

Please tell me what you mean by pretty clear. I can say pretty clear they're mids as well.

Wide forwards may not be traditiona no. 9 kind of forwards, but they're still forwards - unless they stay very wide of course, or drop deep to play as no. 10.

Just ask Pep - he'd ne happy to say Sterling is a forward! 😀

And i agree with that. But how can u say Son, Pulisic, Mane, Mahrez dont fit in that category

Which brings me back to my point that everyone would have to be reclassified and it would ruin the game

            2. Zimo

              4 years, 2 months ago

The rest of these players play the exact same way as these players. They're just not afforded enough minutes or aren't as prolific in front of goal. If they scored 20+ goals you'd be saying the same thing about them too

I agree with this. If it was mids and strikers, then the reclass makes sense, but the category is forwards. I just feel like it means everyone will have the same strikers. Son never outright plays up front (unless Kane is injured) whereas Salah and Auba, Rash and Greenwood do.

32 more just from the goals and clean sheets alone. I doubt he would lose that many bonus points, maybe 5 or so fewer?

We've got a 'midfielder' with a guaranteed 20-25 goals coming up. Something has to go wrong for me to sell him.

How do you feel about Willian as a pick?

I’m a little disappointed that Tierny came in at 5.5.

I wouldn't consider Willian. His late-season Chelsea run always felt unsustainable to me, plus he won't have penalties with Aubameyang around.

Also now that they've made Pepe 8.0, I imagine Willian would be more expensive than you're willing to consider.

    KDB Bruno Ziyech Soucek 4.0
    Werner Martial 4.5

          Ok.

          3 5 2 with a playing 5 and 4.5 every week is not great.

          My current draft is similar

          McCarthy nyland
          Trent rob lamptey vinag Dallas
          Salah bruno greenwood max soucek
          Werner martial Davis

          A more balanced 352 imo

              Oh right.

              I like your starting team.

No bench at all would worry me.

If you compare our teams, I still feel my structure offers me flexibility in formation and a deep bench.

Your advantage lies in a better starting 11 so it could work just feels a little claustrophobic for me

After making this killer draft team I realized that planning a team without fixtures atm is absolutely useless:

    Heaton / Nyland
    TAA, Vinagre, Saiss, Dallas, Ayling
Salah, Mane, Auba, Son / Soucek
    Antonio / Wickham, Davis

    1. FOO FIGHTER

Yes, the fixtures might see you start over again.

And one obvious fault with this midfield is that if Mane, Son and Auba are widely considered as place holders for Rashford, Bruno KdB etc, there will be mass sales and if there are other fires burning, it is a serious tv issue or even early forced WC.

The good thing about the Arsenal GK/def situation is that we should get some indication from the charity shield match line-up.
