How FFS Hall of Fame leader and Virtual FPL champion is lining up for Gameweek 2

Current Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame leader, Fábio Borges has finished inside the top 5k in each of the last five seasons, and even won 2020’s inaugural edition of Virtual FPL.

After an intense Fantasy season in 2019/20, I decided I needed a longer break than usual in order to come back stronger.

Not only was Project Restart a hectic return to something resembling normality, the lockdown period was defined by my involvement in Virtual FPL – which threw four Gameweeks per week at us for nearly two months.

Pretty exhausted from all of that, I only started tinkering my FPL team for 2020/21 a few days before the Gameweek 1 deadline, which I think actually helped me. It made sure I was able to avoid overthinking and countless outdated drafts.

So, the first Gameweek went great for me with 82 points, which means I’m currently 231k in the World. Even more important than that, none of my players got injured or red carded and, other than a few small concerns, my starting 11 still looks in good shape going forward.

Without further ado, here is my team and what I’m thinking ahead of Gameweek 2.

On WC and really want JRod

Would you keep as is or switch it up?

    Meslier / Steer

Digne Robbo Shaw Justin / Mitchell

Auba Salah Bruno Klich / Biss

    Wilson Werner / Brewster

I’m switching Auba to KDB and Robbo to TAA eventually

Great team, forget JRod for now.

Thanks bud, JRod seems a great deal and mainly just want to get the most out of my wildcard.
I sort of messed it up as I wanted Laporte in and now he’s flagged so went different direction.

Hence the post. But I think Digne is enough, Everton are not pool or City. DCL was in before price rise but removed as I just don’t rate him high enough.

Ok your right, as it’s wildcard and I’m building for future fixtures then I’m going to swap Shaw for Saiss now. That way only KDB and TAA to bring in

              I'd want 3 on a WC honestly.

It's primarily why I'm heavily considering a WC in GW3 because you can get Wolves without having to survive the City game. I want double defense and Jimenez/Podence.

Wow, well each to their own. I mean they are a good team but I wouldn’t even want 3 pool in my team. Only do at the moment because I’m expecting a Brewster move

I’d go Jimenez & DCL instead of Werner & Wilson and maybe Saiss over Shaw.

I’m doing Saiss but that’s it. Jimi and DCL trickle it great for consistency but I’m all about those big smashers. Both Wilson and Wrener can hit a Hatty

I have Salah and Willian ... i want Salah going forward, i dont have Aubameyang in my team .... would you put Auba in for Salah this gameweek and use your free transfer next week to get Salah back?

Seems silly to me doing a wildcard and already planning next weeks transfer but Auba vs West Ham scares me

This Jota transfer has come from nowhere. I was already considering Podence for next week for Saint maximum. He must surely be nailed now for wolves good run of fixtures. Seems too good to turn down.

Nailed, no. As it stands both Podence and Neto look like they will start most games. Fabio Silva will be pushing them hard and vitinha looks another talent

Silva and vitinha are more likely to be back up. They are inexperienced so will need time to bed in. From what I've heard from wolves fans if Podence takes his chance he will be a seriously good asset at 5.5m.

      I think its worth it

with that 0.1 gone u cant move anywhere from him apart from Mitchell, and just have to let him ride the bench and hope he gets back into the team. If he was 5.0 and u could downgrade to 4.5 then holding makes sense.

There are reasons to keep him. Good GW3 captain option, still a good player and if he gets chances should score.

Just hard to see Spurs scoring lots of goals which they need to because Kane will get half of them, J-Rod and United assets look good now given most already own Salah and Auba.

Im keeping him - his fixtures and chances look too good to pass up. That and it would take a hit for me personally as a Spurs fan and someone who already did their transfer... I played the grow the bank game last year - not a winning strategy...

In the same boat. I just feel like we have to little information to make decent transfers. So I'm leaning towards keeping and using extra FT on next gmw. 2-3 changes with more information. Spurs got really nice fixtures so if they start scoring Son would be a good FPL player

Basically my thinking. Earlier in the week I was so sure on transfering him out but Im glad I didnt because Im having second thoughts now. If Spurs dont perform against this woeful saints side it would be very concerning though

I did, but just having cold feet and feel like I want to see how United play. Palace looked okay at the back too.

Maybe it is a week to save and take the Southampton fixture and reassess with 2 next week.

Just do it. You planned it, you have the money there. It even works out for you, because Son doesn't look so hot.

This is why I really didn't like the strategy in the first place. Son is hard to remove because he has sou NEW and is a proven player.

Now you're just floating 1.5m that could have been used to improve your team overall. You made your bed with this forced transfer, so make it.

Not really adding much to the squad, could hardly get a game at wolves.

I just entered my Fanteam team. Can you tinker with the team after you have entered it? I swear I can't find anywhere that lets me look at the team I've entered now that I have... if I click on the tournament it just tries to make me make a 2nd team.

Yes you can tinker with it.

Hit 'change team' once you pull up your team.

What do people think of this possible wildcard team for gameweek 3?

        Patricio
Arnold - Van Dijk - Taylor
De Bruyne - Fernandes - Havertz - Greenwood - Podence
        Werner - Mitrovic

        Nyland - Ayling - Mitchell - Davis

Downgrade to someone like J-Rodriguez and upgrade Mitro to DCL perhaps?

Not sure how good Rodriguez will be in terms of fpl. Can see him performing well most weeks without contributing directly.

Willian is super inconsistent. I've put him in after good gameweeks only to be disappointed many times lol

I'd rather get a placeholder and wait on pulisic. Havertz did not look good at all. U say u don't want Hamez but he will still be a better fpl player than havertz. U could go with Mahrez or Grealish or VDB depending on how he performs against palace

Was considering Mahrez tbf. No Sane surely means he starts most games even with Bernardo and Torres?

Why is Werner droping like he is? What am i missing?

It surely cant be just because they have Liverpool this week. Big time players score against big time teams...

Decided to bust out my wildcard in a moment of madness earlier!

        Current team:

        McCarthy
        Digne, Gabriel, Justin. (Mitchell, Douglas)
Salah (vc), Auba (c), De Bruyne, Fernandez, Soucek,
        Adams, Wilson (Davis)

I Just can't resist those four midfielders! Had to drop Son, VVD, TAA, plus some rubbish but overall quite happy. Ridiculous move I know but sod it

Ings to Martial worth a -4?

Transfer next week will be Auba to KDB/Sterling so can't ship Ings next week for free either.
You would say Martial will outscore Ings with 4 points over the next two right ?

A- Alli to Harrison? (Good GW2 game, but not available for GW 4)
        Or
B- Alli to Podence/Neto (good fixtures post city & I might get him anyway for GW3)
        C- save FT
