Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 11?

Fantasy Premier League managers arguably have more choice for the Gameweek 11 captaincy than first thought.

With the deadline moved to Saturday morning following the postponement of Newcastle’s trip to Aston Villa, Fantasy managers have been gifted an extra day to dwell on the destination of their next armband.

We should use that time wisely, testing Manchester City’s meeting with Fulham against the other appealing fixtures this weekend, comparing underlying statistics for players and team defences alike.

As this article uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

Captain Poll

For the first time in several weeks, we have a runaway captain poll winner again. It is Kevin De Bruyne (£11.7m) this time as he gathered over 47% of votes ahead of an appealing home fixture against relegation-threatened Fulham at the Etihad Stadium. 

That number might even increase closer to the deadline as anyone considering Jack Grealish (£7.7m) or Callum Wilson (£6.5m) will almost certainly look elsewhere for a solid captain choice.

Following yet another away from home haul, Bruno Fernandes (£10.9m) sits second in the poll, although he still only managed to get the support of 9.0%. The Portuguese international and his team will visit a West Ham United that has been a little fortunate not to concede more heavily in recent weeks.

The remaining three picks in the top five list (if we exclude Grealish for now) are Jamie Vardy (£10.3m | 6.9%), Mohamed Salah (£12.2m | 5.3%) and Riyad Mahrez (£8.3m, 5.2%).

    This is my team, would you use the FH to make sure you field a playing 11? Or just accept Martinez' 0 pointer and the possibility that Kane may not feature either & I'd have Taylor/Burke off the bench..

        I wouldn't play FH. WC is always an option, but your team is in good shape. I'd accept the Marti null points or make a transfer now if you're unhappy with him in general.

          Depends. Is there another keeper you want for the next 8-10GWs? Otherwise no, Villa have some good fixtures and possibility of a DGW

              That’s a decent upgrade. Alternatively, you could consider upgrading Steer to someone like Meslier, McCarthy or Johnstone, thereby freeing up a Villa spot in case you wanted to go heavy on them for the future double gameweeks?

    Guys, is it madness to go without KDB for the next two fixtures at least and capping Jesus instead? I have two scenarios planned and I am really torn between them, both could backfire spectacularly

    1st scenario - no KDB but I get to keep Son and take only 1 hit

    GW 10 Jimenez > Jesus (C) for free
    GW 11 Kane > Bamford, Jota > Salah (C) -4

    2nd scenario - getting rid of both Kane and Son and taking 2 hits, but will have the big three - KDB, Bruno, Salah

    GW 10 Son > KDB (C), Jimenez > Bamford -4
    GW 11 Kane > Wilson, Jota > Salah -4

    Hi all, apologies if this has been asked a million times already, but I’ve not been on this week - has there been any indication as to when the villa-toon match will be rescheduled? I’ve somehow ended up with 4 players from the two sides.. but I’m also in the top 1000 atm so very reluctant to rip my team up if there’s no real need for it. Cheers in advance

      If it doesn’t happen this week, there’s a reasonable chance it could get rescheduled between GW17-GW19. But nobody knows for sure

          its possible it gets shoved in mid week, but highly unlikely imo. Im starting Grealish either way, I even start red flagged players just incase. Nothing worse then they somehow getting minutes and you benched a great player

      Chelsea fan here - I can’t see FL starting Giroud so soon after the last match, despite his form. He’s said he’s keen to manage his minutes and he likes what Tammy is doing for the team. Personally would steer clear of both though due to the uncertainty
