Lingard and Bowen lead West Ham line as Masuaku misses out with late injury

Fantasy Premier League managers have their eye on Jesse Lingard (£6.6m) and Jarrod Bowen (£6.0m) as West Ham visit Newcastle on Saturday lunch-time.

The Magpies have conceded at least twice in nine of their last 14 Premier League matches while David Moyes’ men are in a rich goal-scoring form.

With Michail Antonio (£6.5m) still out injured, Lingard and Bowen are tasked with leading the West Ham line as out-of-position forwards again, just as they did against Leicester.

Pablo Fornals (£5.8m) supports the pairing from a number 10 role with Tomas Soucek (£5.3m) and Mark Noble (£4.5m) occupying more traditional central midfield stations.

Moyes has gone with wing-backs again today although has been forced into a late change following an injury to Arthur Masuaku (£4.3m) who joins Aaron Cresswell (£5.8m) on the sidelines.

Budget option Ben Johnson (£3.9m) comes into the team to operate as a left wing-back on the opposite flank to Vladimir Coufal (£4.6m) who has assisted in each of his last two Premier League matches.

Angelo Ogbonna (£4.7m), Issa Diop (£4.3m) and Craig Dawson (£4.5m) are the back-three today, spared having to face Callum Wilson (£6.5m) for 90 minutes.

The former Bournemouth forward, who has an admirable scoring record against West Ham, is named on the bench for the second week running following his recent hamstring injury.

Joelinton (£5.7m) spearheads the Newcastle attack this afternoon with Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.1m) and Miguel Almirón (£5.6m) either side of him.

Double Gameweek 32 Line-ups

Newcastle United XI (3-4-3): Dubravka; Dummett, Clark, Fernández; Ritchie, Shelvey, S Longstaff, Murphy; Almirón, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin.

West Ham United XI (3-4-1-2): Fabianski; Ogbonna, Diop, Dawson; Johnson, Soucek, Noble, Coufal; Fornals; Lingard, Bowen.

RE: Article title, Masuaku was not the lte injury.

He got a knock at the end of the last match. Not many picked up on it, but ran through the West Ham forums:

    https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/23679548

He'll likely be back next week:

    https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1383367922546970624?s=19

ExWHUEmployee also said he expects two changes (Cresswell > Ogbonna, Masuaku > Johnson) -unless- there is a last minute change due to an injury:

    https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1383365605126934531?s=19

Probably means someone in the XI has some sort of knock but deemed okay enough, for now?

Norwich need 10pts from their last 5 games to reach 100pts. 100pts+ is usually the mark of a team that is more likely than not to stay up in the PL the next season.

However, 4 of their next 5 games are against teams in the top 7 (chasing promotion) so will be interesting to see if they make it to 100pts.

    1. 7rjngs lollygagger
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

How many points did they come up with last time?

My suspicion is the balance in the championship has been affected this year by COVID finances. The only teams with money are the ones with parachute payments. It is unusual for 2 teams that were relegated to go straight back up - especially directly and not through play offs. Also notable that Bournemouth also look good for the play offs. It's almost unheard of for 3 teams to shine when demoted.

Weaker division than normal so not reading too much into it.

        94 pts in 2018/19.

Last team to get close to 100pts was Wolves in 2017/18 (99pts)
        Leicester got 102pts in 2013/14.

And before Leicester, Newcastle in 2009/10 with 102 pts.

A team that win the league should stay up, provided they spend some money. Last time they spent next to nothing.

          • 5 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

          Impressive in that case.

They may well be better than last time but I think possibly more because of the PL experience they have rather than romping home this time. How much money is spent is always a factor and no one has spent anything in that division this year. Typically there are at least a couple who go big in the attempt to buy their way into the PL.

They will be better equipped from the premier league next year for sure. They won't spend and will stick to the same model but they look more balanced all round now and have the experience of last year behind them.

    Martinez
    Shaw, Rudiger, Veltman, Phillips
    Bruno, Salah, Lingard
    Iheanacho Bamford

    McCarthy, Dias, Gundo, Son, Kane

I've got 10 + a FT for GW33 and FH and BB still available.

    Would you

    A) FH now to beat the price rises.
    B) FH later this GW if no DGWs/blacks have been announced.
    C) Save FH and BB in the hope that a DGW35 and black GW36 are announced after the GW deadline.

Does anyone ever look at the watchlist on here. There are often some curiosities but this one is one is very odd indeed

Vardy is rated A for form - 3 assists in the last 6 matches
Bamford is rated C for form - a goal and 2 assists in the last 3 matches

        Good spot - Salah too

Mods play the game too and lose sleep over OR ranks ect so naturally they are completely unable to leave their aspirations at the door when they get in, so always take these "watchlists" ect with a bag of salt, they are designed to cleverly sway players away from the picks they feel they want to move up in OR ranking. Never EVER take their recommendations as gospel, ALWAYS use your own decision making methods to sort your team. Vardy is a class player and no doubt can haul but to rate him as form A yet Bamford is given a C for the same number of attacking returns and further more points all screams of mods trying to sway the crowd, similar to how they all arrogantly avoided putting bamford at the beginning of the season, never ever mentioned or recommended the lad and ultimately were made to gag on the entire humble pie rather than a slice of it. FPL, Family, Munday ...everyone play ignorance to Bamford until they were forced to recognize him ...weeks after the train had left them at the station
