Can you imagine the pandemonium if you were able to change FPL captain between days within the GW? Scenes!

I really like this difference between the games, makes captaincy so much less luck based and rewards good management. Admittedly though across 38 game weeks it could be a bit intense managing your team this much.

    Best Phrase of the season?

    A) LOVE to see it oh yes we do!

    B) absolutely NOWHERE to hide

    C) we MOVE!

    D) we FEAST!

So who has been peoples player of the season in terms of their own FPL teams? Mine goes to Aaron Cresswell. Picked him up for 5.1m. Owned him for a significant chunk of the season (18 gameweeks) and he was a constant source of points averaging 5.5ppg and was never hugely owned. He also blanked every time I benched him. One of the few shining lights in a bad season.

High ownership, but probably Martinez for me - only didn't play him in 3 GW's.

Then as a Leeds fan, having combinations of Dallas, Harrison and Bamford at various points of the season was a pleasant surprise!

Either of those over the whole season, but in terms of impact Coufal, as his 10pts won me my ML! Worst was either of the Wolves mids I got on WC - Podence did nothing, Neto got injured 30 mins into the first game I had him, not his fault but still...

No, from 31, I was joking a bit but playing him over Rudiger did literally win my ML for me, so he's kind of a favourite now!

The player of the season for me would have to be Mane, who I only brought in for the last game week and captained him.
Without him I wouldn't have overcome the 30+ pt gap to win the mini league.
Without him the efforts of every other player in the whole year would have counted for nothing. 🙂

Maddison gave me a nice boost mid-season to kick-start me again after a few months inattention due to moving houses.

Leno was the most destructive; particularly the own goal which wiped out clean sheets for him and Holding, lost bonus points and negative own goal pts; which happened just as I was building pressure during the chase.

Surely a player who has only played 1 game for you cant be your player of the season? There must have been other players who made a bigger contribution over the season to your final points total?

      No doubt - Dallas!

I started with Ayling but after I saw Dallas in few games made early change. His goals gave me a lot of fun and points. Even when I didnt have him for his brace vs City he gave me rank boost as didnt owned any City player that game and they were high owned.
Martinez, Gundo and Stones were also great early buys. For short time even Pickford and James were fantastic for my team. Got them all in the right time.

For me it's got to be Bruno, Martinez and Son seeing as I had them for the longest times and all scored very well, beyond their price tags. Can't believe I never owned Cresswell and Raphinha.

      Mine is John Stones.
5.8 points per game (the best of any defender).

Captained him for 54 points in DGW19.
Didn't get him till GW15, but would have kept him till the end of the season and perhaps have given him the armband again if it hadn't been for the Pep roulette that hit him badly from GW21 onwards.

He scored 119 points in 13 matches (9.2 points per game) while in my team, with 4 goals and 9 clean sheets, but was benched 3 times.
Only Gundogan, Raphinha, Iheanacho and Lingard had more points per game for me, and only Salah, Kane, Son, Martinez and Gundogan scored more points.

Another vote for Soucek here. I got lucky once or twice by getting his hauls of the bench so restructured my team to ensure he was in my starting xi by bringing Bissouma in. Particularly pleasing as a west ham fan. Eventually replaced him with Lingard who gets a special mention for his ridiculous run of form from GW27 to GW32.

Coufal, Dallas, Soucek or Raphinha. Got them all early and just enjoyed the ride.

It's between Dallas, Watkins or Stones for me.

IIRC I was quite early on all 3 and Dallas' hauls combined with going early on the Stones-Dias double up contributed hugely to my season. Stones goals were a god send to me when most of my rivals only had Dias, Cancelo or both.

I regret not keeping faith with Watkins though, having ditched him on WC for Keinan Davis in order to reinvest the money in midfield.

Tough one. For me there are 4: Martinez, Bruno, Gundogan and Kane.

Martinez: Had from 1st day of the season right up to Christmas and agve me great returns. I had a feeling his move from Aresnal was going to pay dividends for the Villa and it's great to be proven right!

Bruno: for sheer consistency and being a great captain-able asset.

Gundogan: I brought him in at the right time just before his superb run of form in the middle of the season and was a great differential. Great value for money.

Kane: It's always great to have a Golden Boot winner in your squad.

Shout out to Mane who I only had for the last GW and helped me win my ML by 1 point!

I think it has to be Martinez for me.
A set and forget goalkeeper is invaluable, especially when I had so many other fires to put out...
Bought him in early and even when I sold him, he didn't completely destroy me.
      Great work Emi.

Bale and Mane for me. They have been in my team for only 4 weeks in total (Bale 34-36-37 and Mane (C) 38) and gave me 55 points gain over 10K average which made my season a great one rather than a good one..

      1. Dallas. Picked him up for a hit when I couldn't get 11 out and he repaid me with 8 points straight away. Regret losing him on wildcard late on, especially as he got 2 goals against City that week.

      2. Soucek. Absolute enabler. Played him every week around the Winter period and watched the points roll in (which was usually when everyone else benched him).

      3. Martinez. Was on him early and kept him all season. Should have ditched on 2nd wildcard but missed the deadline umming and ahhing about it.

      4. Bruno. Scores goals after the final whistle. Gets assists for not touching the ball. What's not to like?

      5. Trossard. Captained him for the blank gameweek haul when everyone else went Kane. Resurrected my season somewhat.

Most hated players (FPL-wise). Vardy, Justin, Son, Foden, Craig F***** Dawson (think he actually scored net negative points for my team, while Coufal (who I sold for him on WC) got about 30 points in that time.

Haha good to hear. Found myself in FPL purgatory once again (last 4 seasons have finished in the 40ks and I can't seem to get out!), but given I couldn't seem to pick a captain to save my life, I think it's probably a decent return.

Swings and roundabouts at the end too - played bench boost and ended up with 3 no shows and negative points from Dawson and 20+ bench scores in weeks either side of that. But some flukey hauls from Nat Phillips and Rudiger gave me a couple of decent weeks at the end.

How you get on in the end?

Definitely Soucek for me. Got him in at 4.9m primarily for the bench, he got subbed in three times with double digit hauls so I ended up starting him for remaining games until he had to make way for Gundogan in GW21. John Stones a close runner-up who I got in at 4.7m - that 27 pointer in GW19 would have been a terrible double gameweek for me otherwise. Honourable mention to James Justin who kept delivering value way above his 4.5m starting price tag.

Bruno. Had him from GW 2 to GW 37 - having the highest scoring FPL player of the season for all his points. A memorable thing for me personally 🙂

For me it's one of the defenders - at different points I had Dias, Stones, Cresswell, TAA, Dallas and Shaw all delivering non-stop and quality hauls. After WC13 I decided to spend a bit more money in defense and it paid off in the long run.

If I had to chose one it would be Dias - I think his consistency through the mid-season really set me up for success.
Had him from WC13 to WC31 and he scored 96 points in those 18 weeks (5.3 per week) - and I rose from OR500k to OR499 in that time.

Funny that but Son would be bottom of my list. Owned him for a huge chunk of the season (22 gameweeks) and he averaged 4.1ppg but averaged nearly 8ppg over the weeks I didn't own him. He really has trolled my season.

Mason Greenwood for me. Got him instead of Bruno on gw31 wc when he was like 0.01% owned. Gave me 26 points in 2 pretty low scoring gws where the premiums didn't fire. Also the 19 pointer to match all the bruno captainers in gw35. I only owned for like 7 gws, but me transferring him in coincided with my ranks jumping from 700k to just outside the top 100k over 8 weeks.

I played all fantasy Euro/WC even fantasy Copa America but think that this year will take a break to enjoy pure football as even forgot how it was before FPL got me in 🙂
Those Fantasy tournaments arent same as FPL. First of all its really short so there is no time to climb the rank if you have bad start. I finished really high once around 130th place after great GW1 but most of the time had meh start and meh finish as was going template. It works in FPL as season is long but here that doesnt have to give you high rank.
Another important thing is callendar as you can swap C and players from bench after every day games so its important to have strong bench and players who play in diferent days (stick or twist questions will be popular).
With chips, unlimited transfers twice, and more transfers in later stages of the game you dont really have to plan much. Focus on every GW to get as much out of it as possible. Dont make much long term plans.

My advice is to pick some punts in GW1 team like for example 3xdef from one team and/or punty C etc. I think that if you go template than there is a big "chance" you will finish meh. If you are ok with it than fine but if you want to risk it to finish high than going template probably wont work.

    Good luck.

    Kane (c3) Lukaku (c2)

    Krul Werner Jota (c5) Holes

      Pickford
      Walker Stones Maguire

Too defensive for most fans but that's what I think he'll go with.

The question was England 11 you think Southgate will start v Croatia, not the 11 you would pick.

Southgate is not brave enough to drop Sterling despite poor form and Mount is a known favourite who has started last 8 matches. He could play Mount deeper instead of Henderson but in the first game of a group stage he'll want to avoid defeat so Southgate will go defensive.

Don't know about Southgate, but if I were him I would go with something like this:

      Henderson
      Walker - Stones -Maguire
      TAA - Rice - Mount - Chilwell
      Phoden - Sancho
      Kane

Henderson instead of Mount if fit.

With 4 forward players in your formation would you feel safe with TAA? Arguably the most suspect defensively of our options.

Interesting that everyone has put Chilwell ahead of Shaw, seems possibly harsh. I do like Chilwell more but then I'm also biased as a Chelsea supporter.

Yeah, good point, somehow I totally forgot about him. Imho he's also very good, but I rate Chilwell slightly higher.

I reckon he will go with a light grey waistcoast, a serillion blue tie, a pair of mocassons (no socks of course), and pocket square to match. Once he has decided on that he is going to randomly pick 11 names out of a hat and hope they gel well together.

Too many chips available in Euro fantasy. Boring as f because almost no forward planning needed.

There's only two chips and wildcard seems a very necessary one too given so many teams will be knocked out following the group stages.

I'd also argue it requires more forward planning, not less. You can plan your team for the group stages with teams expected to get knocked out rather than avoiding them. Increases the player pool dramatically and the limitless chip again requires more planning around game weeks for teams with attractive fixtures that might otherwise have bad ones outside of your chosen week.

Nice if you can take it like that. IMO max boredom.

It will be first time playing Euro fantasy, I'm looking forward to it.

I'm still not really understanding the logic behind your post though... The more I think about it with the captaincy and substitution differences added in there is significantly more forward planning required, ensuring you have teams that play across each day to maximise the subs/captaincy for each game week.

Less forward planning than FPL when there are more transfers, 2 wildcards and an unlimited price freehit over a 7 game period, plus flexibility to bench and change captains within each match day.

      Agree.
Fantasy Euro is great for casuals as no need to make long term moves and only few games for most teams means no real data needed just eye test. Changing captain/bench players is easier than people think so no big planning needed here but at least it adds some fun esp when your captain got small return and next day some big hitter has nice game.
Im not against it, its fun but also a bit boring as you said.

Agree but it is what I need atm. I have been forward planning since GW13-14 so I would prefer a game without any further forward planning in summer months. Day to day captaincy/substitution tracking and WC (almost) every matchday is entertaining enough for me 🙂

Does anyone know the the FFS Hall of fame works?

Can you search for your career rank in there / do you have to be a member to appear on there?

I asked this a few weeks ago, apparently you should be able to search where you are even if a non member, however any time I searched for myself or anyone else I know it returned 0 so not sure

I found a different site that calculates it (not sure how) and used that instead, if you Google all time fpl rank

Im waiting for HoF to be updated (made 2 posts asking mods about it but got no reply).
You can find any manager history there who played at least 1 season in FFS mini league.
Non members can see HoF without data from current season but for members its updated from time to time but as far as I know even for members it hasent updated fully yet.

No Bamford in England squad, wonder could he switch to Ireland. Might be good for him and certainly for the Republics team.

Harsh on Bamford given Watkins is in the squad. Bamford is better than Watkins and is better at penalties (so much so that Bamford took over penalties at Leeds whereas Watkins lost penalties at Villa)

I think Watkins is the better finisher, if Watkins plays for Leeds he scores more than Bamford in my opinion. Both good players doing a similar job for their clubs.

I think he's unlucky but it would be too much imo to bring both Watkins and Bamford. I'd bring Watkins too, they're comparable in form but think he has a higher ceiling and is younger so makes sense to nurture him over Bamford.

Switching to Ireland would be understandable if he wants to go that route.

I've just seen that he played once for Ireland U18s. Two years ago (after he had switched to England) Robbie Keane went on a sweary rant, saying Bamford should beg to play for Ireland. I wonder if his schoolmate Seb also has Irish grandparents.

Konate priority and seen as VVD partner next season, Gomez uncertain injury return still. Kabak only joins if Phillips/Matip sold

Is Chiesa nailed? I notice that he's been mentioned in this article and also holds a decent amount of ownership in the game. But when I look at the data, he does get rotated a lot.

Is anyone else having problems viewing the fantasy game on the UEFA website using Chrome? It just doesn't show at all for me.
