Wednesday team news: Edouard benched, Broja and Raphinha fit

Four more Gameweek 24 matches take place this evening, with Manchester City v Brentford, Norwich City v Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton all kicking off at 19:45 GMT and Aston Villa v Leeds United getting underway a quarter of an hour later.

It’s not often that the headline Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team news comes from Palace but that’s the case tonight, as the most-bought player of Gameweek 24, Odsonne Edouard, finds himself among the substitutes at Carrow Road.

Vicente Guaita, Wilfried Zaha, Joachim Andersen and Will Hughes are brought back into the side as Patrick Vieira makes four changes from the weekend win over Hartlepool United.

Angus Gunn, Max Aarons and Teemu Pukki are back in the Norwich City XI in Dean Smith’s three alterations from Saturday, with Josh Sargent missing out through illness.

The omission of Kyle Walker is the only real surprise in Pep Guardiola’s line-up.

The City boss makes five changes to the side that beat Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, with Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling replacing Walker, Nathan Ake, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish.

Ivan Toney misses out with a calf injury for Brentford and he is one of three changes to the side that were beaten by Everton on Saturday. Ethan Pinnock, Frank Onyeka and Saman Ghoddos come in, as Mads Bech Sorensen and Vitaly Janelt also make way.

It’s straightforward team news from Villa Park, where both sides are unchanged from their last matches in Gameweek 23. That means a start for Raphinha, who had been flagged going into this contest.

In keeping with that theme, Antonio Conte sticks with the same Spurs side that beat Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday – so that means new signings Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski have to be content with places on the bench.

Opponents Southampton make 10 changes to the side that beat Coventry at the weekend, with only the indefatigable James Ward-Prowse keeping his place.

There’s good news regarding Armando Broja, who recovers from a knee problem to feature, but there’s no Tino Livramento, who lasted 90 minutes on his comeback from injury on Saturday.

So many forward options that he can’t be considered nailed unfortunately. Not a palace fan though

    Kdb v Norwich
Or kdb to salah v Burnley is a real
    Headache

Salah not the best record scoring at Burnley and they seem very tough to score against at moment but Norwich are improving as well

        I can for a -4
        Kane to Maupay (dgw)
Then I could swap Gallagher for salah
        That seems tempting.

I think Palace should have won today and a better team might have had 3,4,5 goals.

I think if you've got KDB in, I would wait until GW26 to swap for Salah if you can't get both in this week

Well that’s a good point Man City can score big v Norwich
I can get. It’s in for a -4 hit . Would mean selling Kane for a cheaper striker maybe Maupay who has a dgw then bringing in salah . That could be quite tempting

I have KdB, but he played 90 minutes and did awful lot of running. He was sometimes the lowest defender and I am considering selling him for a hit to Salah. I am uncertain about him playing at all.

Wouldn’t really want Williams on WC. I assume your going Bruno > Son next GW. I’m going Kane and Bruno > Salah next week but each to their own I suppose. KDB a nice luxury and if plays a great option but could be rotated with Europe

What is the ideal midfield going forward from this gw? I’m not solely focused on the dgw players being honest. Don’t think United are worth investing in. Still prefer Kdb to Son.

Salah, Kdb, Jota, Bowen, Ramsey is the ideal 5 I reckon but I still really like the look of Coutinho, Saka even Sarr

'Ideal' is a very relative term. I picked Salah, Mahrez, Son, Bowen, Gallagher on my WC. But, you could swap Mahrez, Son with KdB, Coutinho in there if you factor in today's performance.

Everton can't finish and DCL was already on bench. Leeds conceded 3. Selling DCL now could be legendary mistake to remember. He could quite easily brace if he starts. On his day he can score. On the other hand DCL has to go soon. I am planning Gray to Ramsey tonight, since I need funds for possible DCL to Kane transfer and Gray is decent BB player, even in good sgw.

On my WC last week I selected [Mahrez + Son] instead of [de Bruyne + Coutinho]. That's already a 14-point swing in GW25 (I captained Son, while I would have captained KdB with the second option).

To be honest, I always preferred the first option. While the second was tempting, I could not bring myself to trust Coutinho for the long haul. Let's see what the future games have in store.

I got ramsey on the wildcard - gw24. Ian Wright was raving about him in a game shortly after Gerrard got the job. I was weighing up him or Gilmour at the time. Annoyed that I did not pick Ramsey way back then. Ramsey is not a 4.5ish fpl player. Next season he will be close in price to Foden is my prediction.
Ramsey for me great player, nailed in team now - saves money whats not to like.

Guardiola has adopted the approach of keeping players in the starting XI following a strong performance.

With that in mind, why do people feel KDB could miss out on Norwich?

How many minutes KDB played over the last two, I genuinely ask? If he had 90' both in the cup and here, I guess he will be rested v Norwich. On the other hand he missed a lot of games this season, maybe he still needs more pitch time than rest.

I haven't seen KdB running like that probably ever. They have that CL match soon after Nor. I would be much more confident for him to start if he had been subbed off like Mahrez. Gundogan will start next one imo. But that's only my reasoning.

He always appears to fly half-mast. Perhaps he's finally top fit again since the Euro's.

Anyway, I agree with you - signs, no matter how biased or futile - seem to favour less than 90 minutes for KDB.

I am an owner, one who owes his rank purely to KDB.

My gut says rest, but I'd like him to start, so I'm getting a few opinions.

As above - signs and "common sense" say rest. History (read: Pep) says: "who knows".

Have you considered the 5-4-1 /4-5-1? - I moved to it on my wildcard. Looks good going forwards.
Edouard is my 'main' striker - until the saints play Norwich as I have Broja. Also have Idah.
Those three are ideal for anyone who has already used BB.

      I have for example -

      De Gea (Foster)
      -
(Tierney)- Varane - TAA - Digne - Cancelo
      -
Fernandes - Salah - KDB - Bowen -Ramsey
      -
      Edouard (Broja - Idah)

Varane and digne both have very poor clean sheet potential.

          True enough -
          But Digne has attacking potential.
Varane is going to start both of the double gameweeks.
Varane will be shipped out for VVD in gw26

Do you think Reguilon is nailed ? Could have easily scored or assisted against soton and has nice fixtures after double gw26
