Double Gameweek 20 confirmed for four teams

Following the results of this weekend’s FA Cup third-round ties, we now have a confirmed Double Gameweek 20 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Four teams will now play twice in the upcoming Gameweek: both Manchester clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

MAN CITY AND SPURS

Neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Manchester City required a replay to settle their respective cup matches against Portsmouth and Chelsea, so their ‘provisional’ Double Gameweek 20 becomes a confirmed one.

Both sides are involved in local derbies on the weekend of January 14/15 before they meet at the Etihad on January 19.

MAN UTD AND PALACE

The doubles don’t end there.

Manchester United’s progress to round four of the FA Cup and Crystal Palace’s elimination at the hands of Southampton means that neither club will be involved in a third-round replay in the otherwise free midweek after Gameweek 20.

Their outstanding fixture at Selhurst Park has now been rerranged for that slot.

United face their cross-city rivals before heading to south London, while Palace are away at Chelsea before entertaining the Red Devils.

Further reaction will follow later this evening and tomorrow.

    Currently on;

    Ederson
    Trippier - Botman - Shaw
    Martinelli - Rashford - Odegaard - Almiron
    Haaland - Darwin - Martial

    Kepa - Salah - White - James

    Considering;

Kane + City mid for Darwin + Salah

But it all feels counter intuitive. Kane vs Arsenal, fair enough I don't have any defenders on, but then he's vs Ederson.

Same with a city midfielder, risk + vs Shaw so I'll lose points one way or the other.

Kane’s a good pick, he’s pretty much a season keeper for me barring injury.

Think of Shaw as Palace plus a bonus of whatever he gets v City. City mids come with risk of minutes but a huge ceiling. You know that obviously but it could be a good week to take a bit of an educated punt.

Considering Liverpool form too, I’d say those are good moves

Kane often gets booked in the NLD.

      He would miss game 2.

Exactly, one in 4 and he has trod a fine line in recent ones. It will more fiesty than last season than last season, when one game was very early and the other over in the first 30 mins. It is a risk to sign or captain him for DGW when the game will probably have 7-8YCs.

    So what's the plan?

Free hit a team with Utd, City, Spurs and Palace?

Or wildcard a team with Utd, City, Spurs, Palace and Arsenal (and any other dgw team that may be announced in the next few days)?

Think I'm gonna free hit now.

    Have 2FT

    A) Darwin + Wilson > Kane + Mbeumo/Toney

    B) Wilson + Bruno > Kane + Almiron

I know Bruno has a double but not convinced he scores more than Almiron.

    Thoughts?

Have 6 DGW players at the moment....if you count Walker and Foden. 1 FT available. Would you do:
    A) Martial in for Mitro
    B) Bueno to Perisic or Doherty

Already have Rashford, Shaw, Foden, Walker, Haaland and Kane.

I would leave Martial as you already have two Utd assets already and Rashford has the potential to outscore everyone else in the team. So B) is the option for me, although both Perisic and Doherty have their advantages, so it's a coin toss. Also Foden and Walker are likely to be rotated too.

Thoughts appreciated on these moves -

    GW20 Darwin to Kane.
GW21 Almiron, Andreas & Mitrovic to Odegaard, Mitoma & Ferguson for -8

This would be providing Arsenal & Brighton have DGW's in 21.

Really don’t know what to do

    Got Shaw, Kane, Rashford, Haaland

Gonna do Salah to kdb for free

    Considering

    Cucurella to Stones Akanji -4
    Mitrovic to Martial -4

    Agree???

    1. Big Mike
      • 2 Years
      1 year, 9 months ago

Salah to KDB is probably the wisest choice for City's double. However, taking a hit for a City defender is a risk as we all know Pep loves to rotate, plus City don't have great fixtures so they may not get any clean sheets - even if you pick someone who plays twice. Also I wouldn't bring in Martial as you already have Rashford who is likely to outscore everyone else at Utd. So Salah to KDB is the move to make.

      1. Gazzpfc
        • 8 Years

Yes saves me a minus 8

        I may consider Cucurella for a -4
As I want to get rid of him don’t trust Chelsea. Either Daliot/StonesAkanji?

Will Dalot play? I would wait for the LC game, although not sure home to Charlton will tell you much.

I am expecting Martinez (who I have) and Varane against Man City but it could end up any pair of Maguire, Lindelof or Shaw.

      1. Sheffield Wednesday
        • 4 Years

I don't know if Dalot plays but he was the preferred RB when available - it could backfire.

With four teams having dgw and 2FT I'm looking for one defender I can afford who is probably nailed for both fixtures, but isn't a Crystal Palace player.

        1. Gubby-Allen

Shaw would seem better but who knows, Dalot could easily play both. A 0-0 V Ma City wouldn't surprise me, so at least one Man Utd defender is a must.

Even one goal and 7-8 points for him in each game and 45 points would be decent enough.

Going to have to think long and hard about how best to use my moves this week.

Have 2FTs and was originally thinking of bringing Stones or Schar in for Bueno (or both with Castagne going too). I’ve also got my eye on Mitoma and wouldn’t rule out Martial.

Tricky trying to decide if there’s more upside in targeting this week (limited appeal for doubling defenders) or next week, where Brighton and Arsenal might double?

Just the one FT this week and use two in 21? Or use two this week? Will hold off until the end of the week but trying to gauge plans…

    2FT 2.9ITB
    Kepa
    SHAW Trippier Castagne
    KDB RASHFORD Martinelli Almiron
    HAALAND KANE Mitro

    Ward Andreas White Bueno

Cheers! Sorry, rambled a bit there

ManU supporters: Is this the likely current ManU back 4: Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw?

    1. Bennerman
      • 6 Years

Think that would likely be considered first choice – but there's a lot of competition there now, and a lot of games in short order.

The manager loves Martinez. And Shaw would be my other pick, assuming you're thinking along the lines of who is best for doubles.

But no-one is guaranteed a double I wouldn't think. Manager talks about the squad a lot, the squad sharing the workload.

I think Malacia may start vs Palace as the game is between two huge games of MCI and ARS but still Shaw could start at CB and he is the most nailed out of all ManU defenders i think along with Varane

There is a very good chance the starting United back 4 vs Palace is something like Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia.

Varane, Shaw and Dalot will be needing a rest before playing Arsenal.

So lets wait to see if we have any news till Friday cause I think if they are to announce DGW21's fixture they will do it at least 2 weeks before those games so in the next 2-3 days

After several red arrows, I need to capitalise on the DGWs

    Kepa
    Trippier / Cancelo / White
    Rashford / Almiron / Martinelli / KDB
    Kane / Haaland / Mitro

Bench: Ward, Andreas, Bueno, Neco Williams

    2FTs 2.1itb

    A. Kepa + Neco Williams —> DDG + Shaw?
    B. Almiron —> Eze
    C. All of those transfers for a -4?
    D. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Trippier, Cancelo, White.
    Saka, KDB, Almiron, Rashford.
    Haaland (c), Mitrovic, Darwin.

Botman is the more guaranteed starter of the 3

Dalot as he's the preferred RB over Wan Bissaka and is likely to get more bonus points because he's more attacking than the other two. Plus Lewis is likely to be rotated.

If those are the only options you're willing to consider, then B.

Unsure about Kulu though, just returning from injury and Spurs have some tough fixtures coming up.

I can't believe I'm considering Mahrez over Kdb after being burned by him the last 2 or 3 seasons.

Mahrez on form - guess he may play at least 120 mins in DGW20?

I punted on him at the end of last season
Was in good form, 3 goals, 1 assist in his last 3 starts
Mahrez went on to get 19 minutes in total and 1 point in 3 GWs vs. WAT, LEE and a NEW+WOL DGW
City scored 19 goals in that time
        Absolutely brutal!
