What Tuesday’s FA Cup results mean for Blank Gameweek 28

We’ve got a clearer picture of the situation in Blank Gameweek 28 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) after Tuesday’s FA Cup results.

Five top-flight sides were in action, with Manchester City, Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion advancing into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

What Tuesday's FA Cup results mean for Blank Gameweek 28 1

BLANK GAMEWEEK 28

Six scheduled Premier League fixtures will definitely go ahead in Blank Gameweek 28:

  • Arsenal v Crystal Palace
  • Aston Villa v Bournemouth
  • Brentford v Leicester
  • Chelsea v Everton
  • Nott’m Forest v Newcastle
  • Wolves v Leeds

However, Brighton v Man Utd, Liverpool v Fulham and Man City v West Ham are postponed, with each of those six teams blanking.

All that it will take for the one remaining fixture – Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur – to fall will be a victory for one of those two sides in their respective cup matches on Wednesday, which looks likely to happen. That’s because Southampton host Grimsby Town at St Mary’s Stadium, while Spurs visit Sheffield United.

The FA Cup quarter-final draw will then follow and this will have implications for Blank Gameweek 32, which you can read more about here.

As a result of tonight’s fixtures, one more additional Gameweek 32 has been confirmed as being on: Leicester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers.

GW28 Premier League fixtureStatusA blank will happen in the following situation:

Aston Villa v BournemouthOn
Brentford v LeicesterOn
Brighton v Man UtdOff
Chelsea v EvertonOn

Wolves v LeedsOn

INITIAL REACTION

Championship side Blackburn Rovers knocking out 2021 FA Cup winners Leicester has big ramifications for FPL managers.

We already knew Brentford would ‘double’ in Gameweeks 27 and 29, but they now have a guaranteed fixture against the Foxes in Blank Gameweek 28 too.

That means they will play five times in the space of three Gameweeks, more than any other side.

However, that is no longer the case for Brighton, who will now blank in Gameweek 28, with appealing ‘doubles’ either side against lee + CRY and BRE + bou.

Liverpool v Fulham and Man City v West Ham are also postponed in Blank Gameweek 28, an intriguing development, given that many squads are loaded up with players from these teams.

What all of this means, however, is that chip planning just got very interesting, which we’ll be exploring in much more detail in the coming days.

Why dont you do Lewis and Darwin to Mee and Toney in GW27, that will give you 8 players which is fine?

How is this WC looking? Have tried to set it up for both DGW27, Blank28 and DGW29.

    Sanchez, Ward
    Trippier, Gabriel, Estupinan, Kristensen, Mee
    Salah, Rashford, Ødegaard, Maddison, Mitoma
    Haaland, Toney, Watkins

Gabriel Will most likely become Shaw for 29.

Anyone just thinking of doing Mbeumo instead of Toney and have done with it?
Want Brentford attack upto 29 and Toney on 8 yellows and the potential ban looming is putting me off him.

Maybe but he's the sort of player I'd bench outside of GW27-29. One less benching headache.

Yeah, Mbeumo can certainly be a benchable FWD at 5.8.

Thinking the same, Toney a better player obviously but there's so much uncertainty around him. If Toney's banned Wissa might be a cheeky punt.

Good call on Wissa when toney is out. Mbeumo seems to be involved in a lot of their attacks though.

Mbeumo’s from over last 4 games is better too. Seems to get 2 pointers with the odd double digit haul.

GW28: You have 8 starters currently. So couple of Brentford players will set you nicely. I think Trent to Mee/Pinnock is a decent start this week(or next if you want to save FT). One more Brentford player and you will field 10 in GW28 which is good enough.

GW29: You have 8 doublers already and triple Arsenal vs Leeds, again good enough. You can try to save FT for this GW and take a -4 to get doublers for Tarkowski, Andreas and Gnonto for BBing. or just field XI and use TC on Rashford.

yea thnaks mate, thinking of those moves.. mbeumo as well could be one..thinking gakpo could be a differential as im chasing 70pts in my ML but Pool not looking great..

Yeah, Maddy plays 28 though (Gakpo doesn’t) and has a decent 26 fixture if fit. See how Pool go tomorrow I suppose, but they’re not exactly setting the word on fire.

Going to be way too much salt on everyone's chips the coming weeks.

FH28? BB29 was an option but that blank is some pain. Double Man Utd, Triple Pool, double Fulham...just three teams and that's only 7 players to juggle.

      I don't think anyone knows.

He's not pleaded guilty to all of the charges, so what process is involved is unclear.

Personally I may hold off until 27 to get more information - he won't get banned between deadline at 11am and the game at 3pm on Saturday and then may just have to keep fingers crossed.

But the last game in 29 is over 1 month away so it feels like something may happen before then.

Probably to add, he's got a big upside and biggest risk is him being lost halfway through a DGW where you can't react. As long as you're happy knowing it's a hit and having a back up plan (money ITB and/or a suitable target) then it's probably worth it

    Thinking ahead a week.

Which combo is better from 27? Broadly is Toney and Mitoma + losing Salah, better than Mitoma & Estupnian/Ferg?

Mitoma & Estupnian (9 in 28) Bueno & Andreas out
Mitoma & Ferguson (9 in 28) Andreas & Gnonto out
Mitoma & Toney (10 in 28) Salah & Gnonto out

    Free hitting in 29.

Anyone considering selling Haaland in GW27 og 28 short term? Watkins and Toney can be good alternatives with 2-3 extra games til GW30. For people chasing it can be woth the gamble.

    Haaland: 27 Palace (a), 28 blank, 29 Liverpool (h)
    Watkins: 27 WH (a), 28 Bou (h), 29 Che (a) Lei (a), 29 NF (h)
    Toney: 27 Eve (a) Sou (a), 28 Lei (h), Brighton (a) Che (a)

Your fixture listing is wrong btw. Included GW30 for Watkins & Toney's DGW ends witht MUN(A), no Chelsea.

Yes Toney facing ManU in 29, not Che.

Anyway, if you have good team value I think it can be woth it short term. You get 2 ekstra games with Watkins and 3 with Toney/Mbueno. And with CL games coming there is a possability of Halland getting a rest.

Only thing thats scary with Haaland now is the ownership, not he`s points per game.

With no Brentford and Brighton, have Nketiah, Mahrez, Salah and a bad defence, 7 BGW 28 players, but not the right ones, time to WC?

Have almost identical squad and more thinking of rolling transfer this week and bringing in 2 Brighton for DGW27 for Mahrez & Patterson. Then FH in BGW28. Personally like the team so wouldn’t want to tear it up just to accommodate too many Brentford / Brighton. Most of your current team also have very good GW27 fixture.

In the exact same boat of having no Brighton and Brentford players now. 7 positions available for BGW28 currently: Kepa, Trippier, Gabriel, Saka, Martinelli, Gnoto, Bueno.

      Thinking about the 2 options:
      1) FH28 and then use FT to attack 27 and 29. Dead end to 32, WC33, BB34.
      2) WC27 to set myself up for BGW28 and BB29. FH34/37.

Is Rico Henry nailed on for Brentford? Can't afford Mee in one transfer.

I think he’s a legitimate option, but we like to call him Uncle Rico.

Absolutely. If I didn't have Mee I would defo go for Rico. Good player

Why’s that Milk? The only + I can see of Henry is the £0.5m saving. No defender had scored more than Mee’s 3 goals this season

There is the cost saving yes, but historically, he has been useful for the odd assist or two. And given how good Brentford's defence can be, that's a bonus. But if you can afford to get Mee, then go for it.

After last night's results, FH for GW28 must be the way to go for most?

No, Brentford v Leicester was the big one for me to avoid FH. Can easily field 9-10 now

Not for me I have 9 players, 8 outfield and can build to maybe 10 or 11 in the coming two gameweek transfer windows

I can field 9 without a hit. Happy with that.

If I WC now, I'll still only go with 9 I think. Should be enough and well set for 29 BB

      Kepa
      James, Gabriel, Trippier
      Maddison, Saka, Odegaard
      Toney, Watkins

Raya, Shaw, Estupinan, Rash, Mitoma, Haaland all benched

    5. CONNERS

No - I will probably save my WC / FH and get 2 Brentford players and one Brighton mid (-4) over the next two GWs and leave it there.

Brentford playing in 28 has made things much easier

I'd argue the opposite, even without any BHA/BRE until now, you can get several in, especially BRE who have been in good form and will play in all blanks and doubles. If you can get in 9-10 players with FT and minimal hits, I'd say that is better than spending your free hit on a mediocre BGW.

    hi guys who to play:

    A) trippier
    B) shaw
    C) use FT to get another def (estu/mings) and play ahead of A & B

      B. Or play Estupinan over either (but check presser for fitness first)

I think I will get Toney. Enough upside with him to even take him out for a hit after a couple of gameweeks if banned.

My worry is that I am effectively taking a hit to get him in (was planning on Mitro to Toney this week but wen Darwin last week, so moving onto Toney is an extra transfer) so if he's only around until 27 it's less likely to pay off than, say, Watkins
