Simon March’s FPL Gameweek 28 preview and team reveal

After a week in which Brighton and Hove Albion’s two-goal number seven dominated the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) discussion, we’re hearing from our very own S. March.

The 2014/15 FPL champion and regular Scout contributor, Simon March, joins regular host Andy North for the exclusive weekly video for Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout.

Fortunately for viewers, the content will be better than the lousy intro to this article.

The pair will be chatting on our YouTube channel about their own teams and how they’re approaching Blank Gameweek 28 of FPL and beyond.

They will be live from 20:00 GMT, with the stream watchable via the embedded video below.

And if you’ve missed the start or indeed the whole of the live broadcast, you can of course still watch the stream back from the start in its entirety.

Only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will be able to watch the video below, so make sure you sign up today to get access to not just this stream but also exclusive YouTube content from the likes of Simon, Mark Sutherns and more throughout the 2022/23 campaign.

    FH team. How's it looking?

    Kepa
    Gabriel, Trippier, Chillwell
    Saka, Martinelli, Almiron, Madison
    Kane, Toney, Watkins

    Pope, Botman, Dawson, Kovacic

Has Conte got a time machine and has brought 2021/22 Son forward from the past? Or am I missing why he's so popular this week?

Was about to ask this too, why all the Son love? Maddison has had a better season.

It's fair enough. I'm just surprised if the consensus. I like the fun of some wild picks on a WC but I also like points...

A WC is for life, not just for Christmas. If you're not gonna take one punt on a FH then the game has gone.

Mine is similar, just I have Son and Zinchenko instead of Almiron and Gabriel. Both could work.

1 game Haaland vs 3 game other striker. Should be easy decision but it isn’t

Haaland is the early fixture in 29 too. Gandhi probably approves of dropping him

    3. gart888
      • 10 Years

I'm in the Yay camp. We'll probably want to move on from Toney soon anyway (surely gets suspended at some point), so being able to go Haaland -> Watkins and then Toney -> Haaland can be justified as only costing one extra FT rather than Toney -> Watkins.

Then it's easy to justify the other FT on getting 3 fixtures instead of 1 over the next two weeks.

Plus, Haaland might lose value again and then it won't even cost us /that/ much to get him back in.

Anyway 0.2 or 0.3 is not so crucial this year

You say that, but when I try to plan out my moves for the next couple of weeks I keep coming up 0.1 or 0.2 short of what I want to do.

Would be 0.3 for me. Should be a no/brainier but 2 goals for Haaland against Liverpool and would Watkins beat that over 3 games? I reckon I’ll probably do it tho.

    Haaland > Watkins for -4?

Seems like it's worth the risk with Watkins' 3x fixtures vs. Haaland's 1

Will do Toney > Haaland in 30

    Template move I guess...

It's a tough call. The minus 4 offsets 2x Watkins appearance points, but basically means he has 3 games to match Haaland's returns (assuming EO doesn't mean he has to exceed Haaland by more). I'm probably doing it for free but a hit is less certain

Anyone with all chips left tempted to WC this week and FH next?

I have this squad and tempted to dump Haaland and Salah to field 11 this week...

    Kepa
    Tark Tripp Mee Botman
    Saka(c) Rashford Mitoma Martinelli
    Toney(vc) Watkins

    Ward Haaland Salah Estupinan

    0.8m itb and 1ft

    Any advice appreciated, cheers

No, simply because I don't see a better week to BB than 29. Tarkowski aside, I see minor improvements but nothing WC worthy in your team, plus you can field 11 players

        Cheers.

So my original plan was FH this week and BB next. But my team looks alright for this, with a hit. So I might hold my FH until later in the season...

So why do you need to dump Salah and Haaland for a hit? Yeah its not the strongest 11 this week but is still 11

I want rid of Salah anyway. Haaland too, until GW30.

Plus those 2 free up some serious funds to invest this week and also try prepare for BB29.

        What about this Biggsy.

Advice please. Take hits, use WC or use FH?

        GW28
        Kepa
        Trippier White Tark
        Saka
        Toney Kane

        GW29
        Kepa(dgw)
        White Ake Trippier(Dgw)
        Rashford(dgw) Salah(dgw) Mitoma(dgw) Saka
        Toney(dgw)

I mean that's a pretty obvious FH for 28. Not sure what the rest of your team looks like in 29? For me 29 is optimum to BB - there are big doubles in 34 and 37 but nowhere near as big - but a FH and then getting a strong 11 in 29 and saving WC/BB for later is viable.

          1. Heiro
            • 14 Years
            1 year, 7 months ago

            Thanks.

Missed Kane/Haaland in there for 29.

I'd also have Ward Bueno Andreas Tark, so not great bench for 29..

Interesting you think FH over WC this week though.
Certainly have a strong 11 for 29 with a few transfers.

Now I've got the whole picture, I would probably say WC - bench is a bit of a mess so sorting 28, a nice BB in 29 and making improvements all in one chip is a nice move

                Thanks again,
Yep, WC felt right, just seen a lot of WC that contain 90% of my squad so wasn't sure.

                Will have a tinker!

Is this worth a -4 to get to 11 players this week?

    Estupinan & Haaland > Chilwell & Watkins.

That would give me 6 games over the next 2 game weeks instead of 3.

They are moves many people appear to be considering. The obvious question revolves around the likelihood of Chilwell playing all those games.

would definitely go 10 w/ Haaland to Watkins

Estupinan to Chilwell sounds good too, especially if there are concerns Estupinan will start both games in GW29

Over the next 3-4 GW's, due to Casemiro's ban, will MUN's Fernandez's role become:

    1) more defensive and play deeper
    2) more offensive
    3) unchanged

Double question, is he worth -4 for Martinelli or other?

No, but fixtures decent and maybe they’ve turned corner with new formation

A YC next GW for Toney a pain but manageable, one in first game of double would be very annoying

I'm a Leeds fan but I must say I feel sorry for Chelsea having James and Chilwell selected for the IB. OK Chilwell has played a few games in a row after long tern injury but James hasn't done enough to show he is fit or in form for selection yet and if played will probably end up injured again before returning to Chelsea for their double.

    Which one better?
    A) March -> Maddison this gw (bre, cry, AVL) Martinelli (LEE) = 4 games
    B) Martinelli -> Bruno next GW (new, BRE) March (BRE, bou) = 4 games

I have double Brighton (Mitoma, Estup) and double United (Shaw, Rashford) for DGW and Saka

Looked like a muscle strain of some sort. Doubt he will be able to play this weekend at least.

So with Tomiyasu and Saliba now injured does Ben White stay at full back or move to center back?

Holden should be okay for a home game against Palace at least.

Got the same dilemma as a lot of people I think

A - Brighton def to Chilwell

B - Brighton mid to Maddison

Would take a hit for me, but gives an extra fixture. I want my Brighton mids for the double so favouring A or not at all.

No mention in the transcript. It might be nothing. I know he’s not a popular choice but thought he might be a nice differential

I have him in my team but if there is risk he will miss out then I have no idea who to bring in. Limited options for the GW in mid

Too risky to go without Toney on WC?

    Very tempted to go with…

    Kane Watkins Havertz

That’s the 3 I’m looking at, given we’ve got the option. %’s would suggest not buying someone 1 game from a ban and hoping for 3 games

I’m chasing… guy I’m behind has Toney Watkins and Haaland…

I’m guessing he’ll do Haaland to Kane/Havertz so I need differentials

    Kepa
    Gabriel, Trippier, Botman, Henry
    Saka, Odegaard, March,
    Haaland, Toney, Kane (c)

    Raya, Estupinan, Macalister, Rashford

    2FT 2.9 ITB

Is Haaland and Estupinan/Henry to Watkins and Chilwell the correct moves here?
