Having rolled out a Selection Guide to Goalkeepers earlier this afternoon, we now switch focus to the Members Projections for our search for the men between the sticks. While Joe Hart predictably sits out on top, we focus on value in this first Members article, examining those keepers who are expected to deliver the best points per million ratio for the season and the first six Gameweeks…
Errr ... no. Better luck next time ... 😀

sunderland/cuellar 4.5 do not rotate well with any 4.0 defenders!!! errrrrrrrrrrr
Open ControlsWHM isnt terrible, its what im doing. everything cant be perfect AND cheap. if that were true Id get laid more often.

Morning all,
First post this season (could this finally be the year I promote myself from lurker to regular poster?)
Friedel - Fed
Clichy - Cashley - Cuellar - Collocini - McCartney
Mata - Bale - Peinaar - Michu - Noble
Tevez - Torres - Petric
2m in bank
Heading in the right direction?Open ControlsNot sure about tevez. I would prefer to pay the extra and get aguero. Michu???? No nothing about him.
Looks good elsewhere, however, you might need some further tinkering if you go with aguero.Open ControlsThanks for the feedback. Up until this morning I had Aguero, Kagawa and Fabio instead of Tevez, Mata and McCartney. Changed it as I thought I would be happier with Rooney as my ManU attacker rather than Kagawa and the difference between Tevez and Aguerro might not be that great.
Open Controls
just my opinion but id
friedel > DDG
pienaar > taarabt
idk how i feel about collo at 5.0. rest looks pretty standard. good luck with tevez vs. aguero. that has been the biggest headache for me and im playing it safe with sergioOpen ControlsI've had the DDG/Fed combo in several of my drafts...it may well return! Not sold on Taarabt over Pienaar though, and I agree about Collo at 5.0 I just "trust" the Sun/New rotation for my 3rd def spot......haven't spent enough time looking at other rotations yet though tbh.
Kun/Tevez will do my head in before the season starts I know, somehow the "risk" of picking Tevez feels lessened by the saving of cash allowing me to replace Torres with Rooney or upgrade a mid-price mid down the line.Open Controls
Morning Runty,
I like your team, seems rather standard but good nonetheless. I do have some criticism however, although I'm sure it's nothing you've not already considered.
Cuellar / Collocini is a solid home/away rotation option but I'm not sure it's worth the 9.5m outlay as there are a few problematic fixtures in the first few (1, 4, 7). perhaps keep looking for a cheaper alternative or better rotation to go with Cuellar, who I agree is great value if he does play!
I don't like Mata to be honest. I'm sure he was promised an extended break after the Olympics considering he hasn't had any holiday yet. I reckon Torres is sufficient Chelsea coverage at the moment!Open ControlsAgree about the Collo/Cuellar rotation and it defintely needs looking in to better rotation options.
Mata seems the safest bet of the Chelsea mids at this stage but I agree that he might not play both of the DGW and therefore isn't worth the outlay over someone else. I like that he allows me an easy switch to pretty much any other mid though after the DGW.Open Controls
I've had Graham in my team since beginnig of this endless tinkering.
Now I'be been dragged into that Petric wagon...never seen him play (not that I've seen much of Graham...), but is he really absolutely, definetely, nailed on starter?
I have experience of ebanks-blake, bent and boselli as my third striker when season starts - do I really want to add Petric there...?
On the other hand, maybe Michu + Petric is safer than Michu + Graham.Open Controlsenjoy in Petric skils
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYZcSdO7iZc&feature=relatedOpen ControlsI have Michu and Petric at the moment but it doesn't neccessarily feel safer as both are punts!

Some pre-season matches results:
Norwich 1-1 Ajax (Pilkington)
Wycombe 0-3 QPR (Mackie, SWP, Onuoha)
Spurs 2-1 NYRB (Bale, Sigurdsson)
Man City 1-2 Oldham (Santa Cruz)
Swansea 2-2 San Jose Earthquakes (Graham and Chico)Open ControlsOnly QPR keep a clean sheet, defensive giants those boys 🙂
Open ControlsYes, Bubs.
Open Controls
wow chico scored? lol
i remember looking at his goal record and seeing him having a whopping ZERO coming into this campaign. I guess that doesn't take into account friendlies 😉
I wish he was a threat, was hoping to name my team "Chico & the Head"Open ControlsDoos, Dyer got very little game time again btw. Came on late in the second half for Routledge.
Open ControlsRead you. May have to have a think. 🙁
Open Controls
Graham or Petric?
Petric is unproven but is on fire preseason. Graham more established with easier fixturesOpen Controlsgraham has had one good season... could easily flop and who knows how they go without rodgers at the helm
Open Controlsdamn, just when I was changing to pertric - graham scored 🙂
Open ControlsPrefer Graham for safety, especially since I plan on having Dempsey if he stays at Fulham.
Petric is certainly tempting though! I think I'll wait and see. If he shows some form in the EPL I'll consider getting him in early doors.Open Controls
A or B:
A
Hazard, Mata, Larsson
Aguero, Torres, Graham
GW2: Torres -> Rooney, GW3: Hazard/Mata -> Bale/Dempsey/Kagawa
B
Hazard, Mata, Kagawa
Aguero, Torres, Graham
GW2 Torres -> Ade, GW3 Hazard/Mata/Kagawa -> Bale/Dempsey/SilvaOpen ControlsB (but planning 3 weeks ahead rarely works out for me at the start of the season)
Open ControlsI think you have to plan at least a few weeks ahead although I do know what you mean.
Having 2 Chelsea mids won't be great so I'm just planning to trade one out to most likely a Tottenham player since their fixtures really take off from GW3Open Controls
Not gonna lie, I want both Bale and Sigurdsson...
Open ControlsHey lads, how many of you are paid up members and how useful is all the stuff? want to up my ranking and smash my mates in our leagues. would you say its important to have access to OPTA stats?
sorry for asking dumb questions!
thanks in advanceOpen ControlsI signed up, it wont make a huge difference but for the amount of work put in on this site they deserve it. Extra articles and gizmos are good too.
Open Controlsyeah for a few bucks it would all eb good to have. u are definitely right about the site though. i used it casually last season just to check peoples thoughts but never took interest in the articles but this season i have noticed the quality of them...
Open Controls
Can't comment on its usefulness but I find the information powered on this forum/site very useful when combined with totalfpl and fiso.
I am considering forking out this season for the membership, however, this game takes up a stupid amount of my free time already and more information will probably mean more lost hours as its the kind of thing I get engrossed in.Open Controls
How fickle we are...
The Rooney Plan (Torres to Rooney switch after GW1). Cause we all know Everton away is a tricky fixture, right?
Jelavic. Don't get him, cause Everton always start slow, didn't ya know?
Maloney. Get him, cause Wigan have traditionally great starts to seasons.
Torres. The ex Girlfriend who cheated on you, but you just keep coming back for more. Until you remember why you left her after she leaves you in the gutter. Again. Unlucky son.
Not saying i'm not guilty of a few of the above, just some random musings..Open ControlsToday the overwhelming consensus is that Tevez will start so go for him and Aguero. Also Rooney has bad fixtures 5-10 so it;s better to go for a manu mid instead.. Baa Baa
Open Controls
Decided that Tevez is a simply must-have at £9m if City do not sign RVP. He is seriously under-valued if he is playing and effectively allows, say, Walters to become a VDV or Siggy.
Kun would keep pens I am sure and probably more game-time but Tevez can easily hit the heights of previous seasons and likely to keep direct free-kicks.Open Controlsthey placin a bid for Higuain apparently
Open Controls
ok regarding petric,
looks safe to be nailed on as long as he doesnt have a serious drought. good.
I feel a lack of better options there combined with history with jol should provide confidence in that. fine.
all i need to know is, is he injury prone, does he stay match fit, does he play 70 minuted more often than not, is he prone to cards. this youtube video looks great, but as an investor these are the questions i need answered!! Any input?Open ControlsProbably nothing that you don't already know, but it falls under the category of 'glamourous punt' vs. 'unglamorous yet safe pick'.
Graham was solid last season in terms of returns and probably has better fixtures. Petric could be explosive but we don't really know how much gametime he will get and if he will he the ground running or will take time to adapt and be slowly eased into things.
If your team contains few/no punts I suppose it's not the worst idea picking Petric but he these things always seem to go wrong!Open Controls
Keiron Dyer got some gametime last night for QPR.
Please let him have a season injury free, for old time's sake. Poor lad has been through enough.Open Controlsso a lot of ppl debating who is better option Graham or Petric
i've been watching Petric and follow his carrer all my life and he is top class striker
aslo if you wondering will he be nailed on i think he will cause Jol has been his coach in HSV
Also Fulham is better club than Swansa and thier atacking style will suit him
please check this link and just check some of Petric best goals
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qja5_ewjM4YOpen Controls😀 answered it as he asked it. Cheers Forca.
Open Controlsyou are getting a bit overexcited, he is not nailed on with Rodallega & Ruiz there too. It doesn't matter that Jol coached him before, he also chose to sign Rodallega, and has seen Ruiz & Dembele at close quarters in the Eredivise. As I mentioned above youtube clips are almost worthless
Open ControlsIndeed.
Open ControlsCan't see a striker that's scoring for fun atm not being nailed on though. Add to that the fact that he's managed him before and brought him in and I think it's a fair assumption.
Open Controlsi suppose its a matter of how long is nailed on. It seems certain petric will start the season in the XI, based on form alone, and i would imagine unless he is absolute pants, will be given a bit of a leash. Will be tough though, if he doesnt come good week 1, then you gotta be patient week 2 with the utd fixture then all of a sudden if hes not scoring week 3 its a total bust.
Open ControlsRuiz and Dembele haven't played striker for Fulham, and probably won't.
Jol has also said Rodallega can play out wide and that Petric is a fantastic number nine. He will be nailed on to start the season.Open Controlsi get your pont Pomp and as i said i dont have Petric in my team myslef but i seriously consider him
i dont like judge player by video links as well but i just wanna show how good he can beOpen Controls
forca what about the other questions i proposed above? any more profile on Petric regarding injury, attitude, etc.?
Open Controlshe scored 131 goal in official matches
most of them for HamburgOpen Controls
Graham scored 10 + in his first season and has unbelievable fixtures first 8. Can play him every week in that period and then swap for LAmbert. I like that
Open Controlsi know that you can not judge player by youtube links myself
but Petric did score +10 golas in every seaosn and he deliver also manny assist
he play in Germany league as well
i got Graham in my team at this moment myslef but seriously consider Petric as punt
when he is on fire he could easily grab a hattrick and his oppening game is against NOROpen ControlsFulham better than Swansea?
Open ControlsForca, Is he a consistent player or is he very much a form player?
Open ControlsFulham is not necessarily a better club than Swansea, though ... just sayin'.
Open Controlswell, i predict that Swansa will drop out of Premier league this season 😉
Open ControlsThat really is crazy talk, mate.
Open Controlsit's my prediction doos
now Rodgers is gone they wont be as near impressive as they been last year
i really like Swansa and i would like to see them staying in Premier league but i just can't see that happeing 🙁Open ControlsWell, suit yourself. But there are more than eight teams worse than them - including five that stayed up last year ...
Open Controls
Any 4.0/4.0 defensive rotations?
Pushing it a bit?:)Open ControlsGreen + Al Habsi or Fabio + Figueroa.
Pros: Both teams with good defensive form at the end of last season, cheap and good rotation (particularly juicy from GW5-13). Likely to be overlooked by many
Cons: Not the best stats to back them up.
Discuss!Open ControlsI have a Fabio/Alcaraz rotation.
Open ControlsAre you 100% settled on that? Are you also having SUN cover?
Open ControlsYep a Santon/Cuellar rotation as well. 90% sure of sticking with this although the individual players may change.
Open ControlsInteresting.
so your going for one big hitter plus 4 rotating defenders for 2 spots. A Cole/Lescott the big hitter with Hart/Cech in net?Open ControlsMy back line will likely be
Foster – Begovic
Ivanovic – Fabio – Alcaraz – Santon – Cuellar
Not sure atm who Ivanovic will end up being.Open ControlsI'm going to be totally honest and say I don't like it!
I think your keepers could really frustrate you as you've got 3 bad fixtures in the first 4 weeks. Begovic/Sorensen rotation could also really cause you problems and Foster isn't strong enough to rely on every week.
I'm also not convinced by the New/Sun rotation route since they also have 3 tricky fixtures in the first 7 weeks. I agree it will be solid over the course of the season but I'd rather have someone else than a Newcastle defender for the time being.
I also think missing out on City defence could be a huge mistake, especially given the generous pricing of Clichy and Lescott (although I agree there is the risk of rotation for the former). I also think that a United keeper for 6m is impossible to ignore!Open ControlsYeah it's not the strongest (especially at the start), but it should be great value over the course of the season.
New/Sun/WBA/Sto/QPR/Wig are all strong at home and should keep plenty of CSs.
Ivanovic will become Lescott or Rafael/Vidic within the first couple of weeks.
I think the money is much better utilised up front in attack as that's where the points are.Open ControlsPerhaps a few of those will keep plenty of cleanies but I don't think they will all do well. I wouldn't count on many clean sheets then and just hope your more expensive attackers do well!
I honestly think there will be great value picks at the back this year from the likes of City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. so I'm going down that route. Best of luck to you.Open Controls
Until Al-Habsi came in at 5.0 I was hell bent on having him in my team paired up with Schwarzer. GW 4 aside he's an excellent rotation with Green for the first 10 wks though so I totally get your thinking!
Have Wigan signed Ramis? If so that may put Figueroa at risk and make the decision for you!Open ControlsYeah I'm not too sure about who will start for Wigan and the choice of starting 4.5m defenders will heavily influence my decision. It also depends if I go for DdG or 2 rotating keepers.
Open ControlsDemi said it would be Boyce as RWB, with Caldwell, Alcaraz and Figueroa as CBs and Beausejour as LWB. He also said that if they sign a new CB then they would replace Figueroa.
Open ControlsCheers. Think I'll wait and see before getting stressed trying to figure out what to do.
Open Controls
Eeeuuurrrggghhh!!! 🙂
Open Controls???
Do enlighten us!Open ControlsSorry, TinkerMan - I just think that Wigan and QPR have got their work cut out just to chisel a few points, never mind be in my team.
Open ControlsYeah I know, I hadn't even considered it a viable option until just now. They could be this year's surprise defensive packages considering their form at the tail end of last season. If it doesn't work out, at least I've not wasted too much cash!
I just don't see many viable alternatives!Open Controls
Rooney or Aguero?
Tottenham's early fixtures have convinced me to get Adebayor.
However, my budget won't allow for a Aguero, Torres (Rooney), Ade so will have to either:
Aguero, Ade, Graham +0.5
OR
Ade, Torres (Rooney), GrahamOpen ControlsI don't even want to consider Adebayor. The possibility of him really screws everything up.
- Pro tip of the day 🙂Open ControlsThe extra 2.5 over Rooney....you know you want it 😀
Open Controls
Maybe decide nearer the time.
I wouldnt be so sure that Ade will be there.Open ControlsI guess I'm getting a bit ahead of myself but if he does move, he:
-will be great value
-will be pretty much nailed-on
-will have great fixtures after GW1: WBA, NOR, rdg, QPR, mun, AVL, CHE, sot, WGNOpen ControlsTotally agree with you. He is a very good choice.
Just need to keep tabs on the move now.Open Controls
So Allen off to Liverpool, anyone tempted? Or will he be a bit player? *sticks on watchlist*
Open Controlsprobably less minutes than henderson last term
Open Controls*removes off watchlist*
Open ControlsI'd think he'll start. Having watched Liverpool 'perform' in pre-season it doesn't look like they have any midfielders who can play the one touch, quick passing style that Rodgers wants to instill.
Open ControlsSo ... why didn't he get Britton???
Open Controls
Forca:
on the other hand. Graham is proven fpl propect, even without siggy's present.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mLQ2_4xqH4
enjoy 🙂Open ControlsNowhere near as impressive.
One is in the Championship, the other in the Bundesliga. Petric's goals are better too 😉Open ControlsYou forgot the 2 stunning free kicks 😀
Open Controls
how manny times i have to say that i got Graham in my team??
also-that's just regural goals in 2nd england league
petric has been scoring goals against TOP opponents
also-i dont see any flip kick shots and sick free kicks (like petric ones)
Petric is proven player in europe and he is way better than Graham
also-does ppl forget Petric brilliant strike at Wembley when CROATIA beat england 3:2??Cuse of him England didnt qulify at euroOpen ControlsBPs for flip kicks? 🙂
Open Controlsnope 😉
just saying that he got better skills than Graham and fantasy wise that means anything since Graham can score some easy goals and earn more pts than petric for his 1 crazy goal
he is still decent option i would say and i expect him to taking Penalty and Free kicks as wellOpen Controlshe been taking penalty kicks in every club he been playing for
aslo he scored few brilliant goals from free kicks as wellOpen ControlsI think Graham is a bit overhyped TBH. HE was solid last season and I had him for a fair bit of time, but that was because he was 4.9 m. At 6.0 he seems very bland and we don't know how they'll do under the new management. I'm hoping for Fletcher to Sunderland personally.
Forca, I was in Croatia during the 2008 Euros. Loved Dubrovnik the night you beat Germany, less of a fan of the beer adverts montaging you knocking us out in qualification! 😉Open Controls
Also, it seems like most Petric's goal comes from crosses, and fulham is definitely not a crossing team, as seen in the team stats. They play most of their goals through middle.
That's my worry.
Also, I don't rate players with long shot as a consistent fpl prospect. (except siggy)Open Controlsthat's just some of his best goals
he scoring normal goals as well 😆
and he was playing different postition in bundesleague (he always been playing in hole behined striker)Open Controlsthis is why i don't understand why Jol says he's a great no.9, i always thought he was more of a support striker. But then again, I don't particularly rate Jol so there you go.
Open Controlsfor that reason i have Graham in my team instaed of him....even if i think that Petric will do great i never seen him play as lone striker
Open Controls
those going pienaar, are you ok with having jelavic too if/when the time comes? for that reason im going larsson. Sunderland dont have any strikers!
Open ControlsThey'll be back in with another bid for Fletcher shortly. I don't see any Sunderland mid as viable until they have someone to pass to!
Open ControlsI have Larrson and Pienaar atm. No real plans to get Jelavic in the near future, but if he starts killing it then I would be fine with 2 Everton players.
Open ControlsPlease let Sunderland make a bid for Berba.
Open ControlsPrefer Bent/Tevez over Jelly at the moment so I'm happy having an Everton mid.
Open ControlsJust Pie for me, but not until gw4

does anyone have the full list of teams who rotate together? For example Sunderland & Newcastle, UTD & City

Are Little Wizard or Epic Fail lurking around at there?
Open ControlsLong time admirer, first time poster 🙂
Gone back and forth on lots of teams but have settled on an approach that more focuses on distributing spend throughout the team for the start so easy to switch to early starters without multi-transfers.
Team at the mo:
Fedirici
Terry Lescott Cashley
Pienaar Lampard Bale Michu
Ba Agüero Pog
Bench: De Gea, Fabio, Noble, McCartney
0.5m in the bank so can upgrade Lamps to 9.5er (such as Hazard) or Aguero to Rooney if any of them hit an early purple patch. Early move Terry to Vidic likely as well and potentially taking some of the money out of defence to upgrade Ba to Papiss Cisse/ Ade later on.....
Thoughts appreciated.....Open ControlsBalanced overall and an interesting team. What are your plans to play 10 outfield players in GW3? I'd consider only having one Chelsea defence or perhaps downgrading for GW2/3 for a cheaper player.
Ba could be a really good differential as a lot are put off by his fixtures but I'm personally not ready to take the risk! Maybe upgrade him with the money saved from downgrading a defender?
Also, how do you plan to use Fabio? 4.5m for a bench players seems a waste.Open Controls
