Thinking of rotating my 4th defender and 2nd striker hopping between 352 and 451. If Mitrovic goes, Vinicius at 5m would be a shrewd pick and help this strategy nicely.

Vinicious would be a season keeper for me if starting at that price.

Sorry, 4 actually. I’ve back up Everton keeper instead of Areola, Bowen for Enciso, Vinicius and McAtee but dependant on Mitro heading off.

Richarlison on the radar after watching the game v West Ham last night. Especially if Harry Kane starts wearing lederhosen. He got a plethora of chances. Kulu looked very good as well. Spurs are really going to enjoy their high scoring defeats this season!

How have they? Hos many leagues have City won under Pep compared to Liverpool? This Liverpool team isn't a patch on the team that dominated English and European football from the mid 70s and the 80s or Ferguson's United team. Great teams win trophies.

Liverpool have won trophies. They have also competed regularly for the title with city. They haven't won as many, but that doesn't mean they didn't compete. The point I was initially responding to was that Liverpool's owners lack ambition which I think is unfair. Also bringing up events of 40 years ago is probably unhelpful.

They'll always be compared to that great Liverpool era. Always. Those stars are still around Anfield and Liverpool on matchdays meeting the fans. The league and Champions League winning team was well capable of winning more leagues and Champions Leagues. Owners did spend but were also penny pinching. Made Jota play a dead rubber CL game where he got injured because more points meant more money.

Klopp's blind spot for Trent as a defender has cost them games too. Too stubborn to move him further up the pitch or get him to try and improve his defending. He doesn't have defensive instincts so will be interesting to see how he fits in a new look midfield because he's a hell of a footballer.

"As the season goes on, we’ll also be working to integrate some features of LiveFPL into FFS as part of our new updated members area (and vice versa)."

What new updated members area? Will it even be here before the start of the season? You've removed functionality from paying customers and yet no refund or apology in our mailboxes.

Why don't you put some dates on your plans to release the new area and to integrate LiveFPL features? It's been years of false promises/advertising and no one is holding you accountable.

I have already cancelled, safe in the knowledge that I won't get to try the product before I buy it.... or even use it after I've bought it..... again....... again.......

I might even do an Andy!

All this talk of content, content, content, as if it's a selling point to have more noise. But people (particularly premium members) here don't want quantity. They want quality (premium) articles. They want to support the FFS "community" specifically (ideally all in one place/platform/ecosystem). They want a useful and useable premium members area with developers who are giving it some love and listening to the users. And they want a website that isn't a mess and is more conducive to productive discussions and learning (including on-site notifications, which you apparently had the basic functionality for already 2.5 years ago! https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/23449770 plus the ability to follow threads and users!).

Besides, you can probably get more "diversity" and "breadth" by hiring 1 writer to cover diverse ideas than you can from 20 content creators, if that's what you really love about FPL.

I don't know what's happening behind the scenes. This comment is aimed at FFS, the organisation, not Fozzie, and at anyone thinking of taking up a subscription. I would suggest you wait for them to deliver before you spend any money.

    Kind regards,
    Deulofail, a dissatisfied customer

Haven't been a customer for a couple of years, but I look at things like my profile page and one year on since it was introduced am still wondering:

What is "ACTIVITY LEVEL" and why does it "Need data"?
And why does the "Alerts & Notifications" page under 'edit profile' now never load in Firefox?
Why do I need to click seven times to reject/object to unnecessary cookies instead of once? There are many sites where clicking reject dismisses the cookie page. Seems dodgy hiding all the options in sub-menus.

Then I read complaints like yours and it doesn't fill me with confidence that things improve in the customer areas.

        Agree with everything Deu writes.

But I do want to renew on my fixed old rate, and can't even do that.
I get these emails telling me my membership has expired and I must renew imminently. Apparently, if I do that I have to pay full price like a new member but if I email and ask nicely, I'll get a refund. So I'm to trust a company showing this level of incompetence.
But when I go to my profile, I'm told there's a week left on my membership and I can't renew early even if I try to.
My stance is I'll renew if I know I'm paying £17.50, but no way am I forking out over £30. My worry is if they don't let me renew before my deadline, my account will expire and then when I pay the £30 and ask for the refund, they'll tell me I paid after expiry and am a new member. It's hard to feel confident that they'll get this right.

Automatic renewal policy. You’ve got to go in and cancel your membership before the renewal date.
It’s common practice with most companies.
IMHO there’s enough content out there for free.

Correct, all we want is a decent members area where we can make the most of the stats. Have no interest in articles which just express the opinions of various content creators. Want to be able to make up my own mind based on data

For Two years this new members area is talked up when you want people money then nothing happens. How can you complain about other companies, when you treat your own members like just a cash cow

Really tough one. Hard to ignore Trent. And on paper Mbeumo ‘should’ do very well.
James/Chilly still a gamble with their penchant for injuries, but I’d prob go Chilly out of the two. I have a feeling Son is going way under the radar and last season was just a particularly bad one for him. He’ll bounce back this year.

A couple of the advice pieces on here have advised against rotating keepers, so here's a question about GK: Pickford and Leno to rotate, or Pickford and backup Everton keeper, no rotation? No rotate saves 0.5m and it's set and forget, but on the other hand... Everton keeper every GW?

    1. Sheffield Wednesday
      • 4 Years

If spending 9M on a pair of keepers I'd get a set and forget 5.0M keeper and a 4M backup.

I personally think Pickford and Leno makes for a good rotation pair. I wouldn't want to start either against high-quality attacks.

Flexibility is absolutely key to start the season. Two 4.5m forwards really restricts you. Tis like the gibbet in mine dungeon. Schar is an odd pick given Botman is there. Ederson should really be a 4.5 or 5m keeper I think. Good start but needs some work. Good luck.

Haaland missed 5 games last season. How will you cover that situation. Better to take 1.5m out of defense and invest in a 6.0m support fwd.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 12 Years

Surely you'd just sell him for literally any other forward in the game. You'd possibly even buy him back later at the same price or cheaper if many others sell.

Last season Haaland missed Rds 12 & 14. So you would use 4 transfers to sell R12, buy R13, sell R14 and buy again R15 ?

I'm not using this strategy myself, but that doesn't seem problematic to me, given that with the extra cash you can afford plenty long-term, stable assets and not need to use too many transfers.

Exactly. We are debating the above situation with Haaland as a lone striker and missing R12 & R14 like last season. I will be running with a support forward to cover that circumstance. Nice to lock horns with you Andy. Over and Out.

My opinion is Ederson and Schar are very strange picks when you don’t have a 2nd fwd.
      Benching Chilwell?
      I’d absolutely get a 4.5gk and 4.0 def and go a decent 2nd fwd.

Understand that 100% most of my drafts have been 352 with Jesus and Pickford Botman cash Henry etc

Looking at city fixtures I really want a way to get 2 or 3 players and I don’t trust any outfield players except haaland to be benched (ake stones yes even them)

Considering I only have to risk Jesus who can’t hit a barn door with a shotgun at times to gain upgrades like

        Pickford to Ederson
        Botman to Schar
Henry to Chilwell (already have mbeumo and don’t want two Brentford plus I want Chelsea coverage for the fixtures gw2 onwards)

I’m never going to captain Jesus so I’m thinking the upgrades are worth it

Yes having two 4.5 cfs can be restrictive but I could save 1 ft and easily fix without to much turmoil

Thanks all for the replies to this 451 draft

I think at 5.5, only Enciso and Andreas are viable options. Madueke, Billing and Kluivert at 5.0 might become viable later.

Neither. A 4.5m mid and upgrade elsewhere. Not great potential there, maybe McNeill but unlikely. For 6.5m Mbeumo, Eze, Almiron, Mitoma look much better value than the 1m extra.

Thanks for your input. As I stated, at this stage it's 'for a laugh', and as a bonus stops me from tinkering before making a final GW1 selection after the Community Shield and pre-season matches are over.

Sorry Steevo - this seems to have hijacked your optimal 6 week projection quest.

      Hi Steevo.

Try Pinnock, Baldock > Mee, Guehi/Tarkowski/Mings and Enciso > 4.5 mid.

See how that goes in your projection, seeing as everyone is against having 5.5 mids.

so with Fofana injured again,Badiashile struggling with a hamstring injury, Thiago 39 in September, Chalobah not good enough and Koulibaly sold, that surely opens the door for Colwill to stake his claim, which has given me a plan.....

    Current defense
Shaw, Estupinian, Saliba, two 4m wasters, with that defense i'd need to play the 3 good players all the time even in tough fixtures, or sell them when their fixtures turn

    plan
sell Shaw for a 4.5m, leaving me 1m to upgrade the two 4m wasters to two good 4.5m players, then rotate all defenders depending on fixtures thus saving transfers, the defense would look something like this, Saliba, Estupinian, AWB, Colwill, Botman, granted they're not all entirely nailed but they don't have to be when there is that much good cover

true, AWB will be the biggest culprit in that scenario probably, but as a former Dalot owner at the end of last year, there is no question that AWB would have been the better choice

Every year I tell to myself that the actual value of a team lies in defense (points per million) and go in with five premium defenders. Couple of weeks into the season, one gets suspended and two injured. So there comes the emergency wildcard. But at the end of every season I realize that if I had stuck with my defense, not only would I have scored more points but also would have saved half of my transfers.

But the premium defenders all did so poorly last year? TAA 150, Robbo 120, Chilwell 70, James 40, Cancelo 70- that would have been a huge a waste of funds to hold onto them

Who are the best 5m Forwards and Midfielders as things stand? That article about 4.5m options was good but basically says no realistic options for each!

There are no reliable starting 5.0 forwards with the exception of Luton's Adebayo, and possibly Vinicius if Mitrovic leaves Fulham and isn't replaced.
Midfield isn't much better - maybe someone at Bournemouth or the promoted sides.

I've currently got Harrison Reed for Fulham in midfield (5m) and Edoard (5.5m) at Palace up front and just feeling extremely 'meh' about them - might even swap out Edoard for a 4.5m non player as he's third sub!

Depends what you consider as a realistic 4.5m option. Is someone who regularly gets 1 point cameos really much worse than a 5.0m who regularly gets 2 points?

If they are 2nd or 3rd on your bench is it better to use that 0.5m on your starting players?

      1. Return Of Chamakh
        • 11 Years

Yeah this is the question - you make a very good point about 1pt versus 2 point cameos too! Definitely food for thought in 3rd sub at the very least!! Leaning towards grabbing a sneaky extra 1m for the starting XI

      2. The 12th Man
        • 11 Years

That extra 0.5m to get a 5.0m striker that at least gets appearance points should only be a bench backup for Haaland in a 4-5-1 formation in the event that Haaland unexpectedly misses a game.
Otherwise a 4.5m fodder would do if not needed for anything.

    3. Arteta

There are no guaranteed starting forwards at your asking price. This is why they cost £5m or less. Mubama (West Ham) is currently getting minutes and attacking returns. Vinicius (Fulham) will become an option if Mitrovic leaves.

In midfield, you have options like Enzo and Caicedo, who are more or less guaranteed 2 points per week, and more attacking-minded players a la Garnacho, Buonanotte, Kluivert, Ouattara, and Sarabia, but they may not be starters from the beginning. There is also Brownhill, which many believe is the best cheap pick you can get, and I also agree with them at the moment.

Taking your enquiry a little further I’ve just interrogated the official FPL site and can let you know both Kulu and Richarlison are 7m each. Richarlison got a gazillion chances in the box against the Hammers and the end score should have been 30-3. Didn’t realise he was so cheap and classed as a mid. Once I finish this detailed and considerate post to you I’m off to bring him in. Phweeeew, thank God that’s over, it was taking forever, just typing, typing, Richarlo on mine mind. Good luck nudist!

In ancient Rome they had vomitoriums (or is it vomitoria?) where feasters could go and have a technicolour yawn before returning to the feasting. Having just feasted on half a block of Cadbury vanilla and passionfruit chocolate I feel they should be re-introduced. I see a possible franchise opportunity here, we could set them up next to food courts - particularly those with a Craven Cottage Cheese restaurant (mine other franchise idea)!

Not sure where Chelsea finish this season, but defence wasn't their problem last season. I think a starting 4.5 Chelsea defender would be very appealing, but too early to know who will be first choice or if they go with 2 or 3 CBs.

  27. LangerznMash

Badiashile is first choice when fit. Chelsea kept 4 cleansheets in the 10 games he started, which equates to Newcastle/Arsenal level over course of full season. Add 2 or 3 attack returns and he could score 130-140 points.

He only joined Chelsea in January and I believe he only missed six games he was actually available for. Also factoring in that Koulibaly has left and Fofana crocked, I think it's safe to say he is first choice.

I don't remember the homepage ever being clean and minimalist. I think it's more clean and minimalist now! It's just most recent article + featured articles + dreadful scrolling news ticker + list of recent articles. On the old homepage, I had no clue what I was looking at so only ever used it to click on the most recent article.

The new one could definitely do with labelling its blocks with "featured articles" and "recent articles" to make it clearer, getting rid of the scrolling ticker and changing some colours, but in general, I find it more useable than before, personally. Feels like people are describing something different to what I see. I turned off adblock and just had one ad across the top, which didn't actually load, but nothing more.

I find the terrible green and black menu bars with those numerous and unintuitive tabs/options to be the worst offender for navigation. The only thing I ever look at to click on is "team news" (and injury/set piece options below it) and "premium tools" (and "fixture ticker" below it).

That said, it does look like the menus have been cleaned up a little. It's a start, I suppose. I wish the black menu bar on desktop would just be destroyed for good. It takes up space on my narrow screen and is just used to push whatever they want this month.
