Something a bit different and with a bit more risk perhaps:

    Pickford (Areola)
    Stones Gabriel Estu (Botman Bell)
    Salah Saka March Martinelli Grealish
    Haaland Pedro (4.5)

0.5 ITB. Pedro could be Wissa/DCL/Ferguson will have to see what the minutes are looking like

Think Botman is a mistake, as he’ll price drop with mass sales first few weeks. Someone like Pau could be a great diff.
I would prefer Eze Foden Wissa to March Grealish Pedro too, but overall nice differential team really.

Thx for a fresh take on botman mistake. With the itb make him Saliba or get Leno to rotate or pick>Ramsdale. I think it's essential to have 3 Ars starting first 4 gws.
        Need Mbuemo over March surely.
Id rather have Ederson than Stones. Gl

Put the 4.5 to Leno and rotate I always think you should spend 9.0, but not more on keepers.
That's a good Salah team but your 4.5 will have better fix's with Henry< Botman and def March> Mbuemo. I went Foden but coin flip. Imo gl

Didn't know Cancelo played, but him going on the tour alone was a surprise to me when it was revealed. I wonder if it's merely a "put him in the shop window" thing or if there's actually a chance he may stay and that he and Guardiola have perhaps worked things out, especially if Walker is leaving. Also, didn't he do the inverted role under Pep a lot before?

Foden playing central again is promising, KDB being back may actually be a good thing so we can see if Pep will continue to play him there. With Gundogan gone I think it still is a big possibility that Foden will make a permanent move there, even if KDB is available

    1. Boberella
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 2 months ago

It’s interesting. I think it may be a shop window thing, but I wonder if Cancelo is back how that effects Stones ‘new’ role.

I’m gonna risk it starting with Foden more because of no Gundo and Mahrez and less options for him to be rotated for. If it backfires, and if KDB impacts him, easy early switch to any number of MIDs.

So many players well priced, never had this much trouble picking !!I just can’t look beyond the fact that mbeumo, eze and Mitoma are the best values in the 6.0-7.0 striker / MF bucket. Is it crazy to start with all 3???

    Onana
    Stones. Estup. Gabriel
    Salah. Saka eze Mbuemo Mitoma
    Hal. Jesus

    4.0 GK. 4.5 defender 4.0 defender and 4.5 striker

With your structure it’s harder to get to 7.5-9.0 mids that hit form. If you have just 2 of the 6.5s you can move among them easily enough. Consider Salah 12.5 plus Eze 6.5 is 19.0 million. Trade those two for Bruno 8.5 and Rashford 9.0 (or similar) at only 17.5 plus 1.5 itb to move around. That leaves you 3 mids in the 7.5-9 mil range plus 2 mids in the 6.5 range plus money itb. More balanced and flexible. In GW 1-8 Salah likely to be favored captain in GW 2 but maybe not again until GW 9. He would have to be immense to make up the difference in price/points. Understandably, people are having a hard time giving up the Salah security blanket we’ve had for 6 years. This might be the time?

Colwill is bandwagon. Someone more nailed. Henry is less exciting but fixtures and 3k minutes last go.
Did you pair onana with Areola? Id Foden> Mbuemo and colwill> Gabriel with savings. Those are small things good team for sure.

Yup that’s my GK pairing for now.

I still have 0.5mm in the bank and will look to move Estu (fixture turns after gm3?) to chilwell of Chelsea starts strong or simply change colwil to chilwell if he is not nailed.

I like mbuemo but will if foden plays. Can change Mitoma to mbuemo when fixture turns too.

I like Gabriel but he can only come in after I decide to ditch Jesus or martinelli…

I just took a look at the City defenders. They all got very poor returns. Simply rotation? Or were the forwards / mids hogging all the Baps / assists?

I think its got to be TAA + Arsenal + one of Spurs (I'm on Udogie), Brighton or Chelsea (although they have tough early fixtures)

Too early to really make a comment on RMTs tbh. Things will be much clearer in a few weeks, when many signings are made, and the players are fit & sharp. Managers tend to play their best team in the final pre-season game, so that will help.

But I don't see anything wrong with any of your picks. Except maybe Bell.

I mean the owner saying he has to be sold if he doesn’t sign it’s pretty indicative of what is transpiring - he’ll be a massive loss, just like bale so you need that big cash to try to rebuild

I'd sooner sell the rest of the team before Kane. He'll thrive at any other club but will find it hard to listen to 'Stay up their Harry, we'll find you. No need to carry lazy players here'. Postecoglou would have an impossible task trying to replace him.

Personally I would never BB GW1 as we have so little info on preferred starters compared to later in the season (not to mention lower TV, little idea of form, etc). Pedro/Undav definitely fall into this category of uncertain starters, Burn/Gakpo maybe. Sanchez is likely to be 3rd choice GK at BHA if not at another club by GW1. And Armilon?

Aha Almiron. Sorry, the spelling threw me for a sec. Think he should be fine. In any case we have some excellent sources of Newcastle knowledge round here with Neale (editor) & the likes of Hairy Potter so if anything changes for them on the RW you'll probably get word of it

Cheers for that....Sanchez is a great keeper with a lot of safes plus since entering fpl a bonus magnet. But will keep it mind for final decisions thank you so much

Its a stylistic/tactical thing. De Zerbi wants a GK who's good with his feet to aid their very patient style of playing out from the back & Sanchez just doesn't fit the bill for him. Verbruggen (new signing) is apparently very strong in that regard

I'm not really tinkering too much at the moment & will leave a lot of decisions until after I've seen more friendlies. But my current draft is:

              Flekken
              Estupinan Gabriel Pinnock
              Salah Rashford Saka Martinelli Mitoma
              Haaland Wissa
              (Min bench - 4 / Beyer / 4 / 4.5)

Might switch to a rotation of Pau Torres with another 4.5 rather than Gabriel. Also keeping an eye on Chilwell & Nkunku as they're difficult to get to from this structure.

It's a good team. But after GW1 you'll prob have too much cash on the bench and a benching headache. I'm more a fan of a skimpy bench and maxing the 11. Might be easier to bench boost when players form emerges. I've never had a good bench boost mind you.

Same for me never worked out, this is the reason for trying in gw1. Yeah i agree after gw1 i got work to do and generate coin from the bench. That the reason i choose higher midfield brackets too, to be able to switch to players in form etc. Thank you for your input. Hows your looking atm?

Never know with Pep, but could operate in that LCM role like he did yesterday and KDB on the otherside. Probably more of a case of whether Kova or Foden starts.

      Million dollar question

Foden playing isn’t dependent on KDB, will get more game time than last yr, just brings an air of uncertainty around minutes + city now looking at olise

He should play on the right with Mahrez gone. I’m not sure where this KDB stuff has come from as Alvarez and Silva deputised for him.

KDB was on the bench and Pep was quite positive about his progress. I'm still fine with Foden for GW1. I think over the first few weeks as he loses his guaranteed starting spot, a viable 7.5 or less alternative midfielders will arise.

Palmer apparently (didn’t watch) but it was a random team beyond the back-line.

Foden has barely ever played on the right in his time at City so I'm not sure where the idea that he's instantly Mahrez' replacement has come from. KDB went off injured early in the CL final and Foden is the one that came on for him and took his spot, and Foden spoke about moving into central midfield himself towards the end of last season

Is that on Transfermarkt? I was looking at that recently but not sure I really agree with their categorisation for players like him or the likes of Silva or maybe Grealish and KDB. According to them Foden has made a huge amount of appearances in CM

It’s based on the team-sheets which, especially with Pep, are open to interpretation. I remember him specifically starting on the right in the derby though and 4 league starts sounds about right to me.

Was impressive in his few starts on the right, as against Man Utd. But you're right, only 18 careers appearances there compared to 113 in central midfield positions and 25 up front. Transfermarkt don't even list RW as a valid position for him

Yeah I just meant on the "main position" page, although its not really a big deal. I can see both sides of the argument tbh but think I'll just avoid him due to the uncertainty

Possibly more drafts are Liverpool-free than not. I won't be able to fit Salah or TAA without wildcarding but I can do another mid or forward once we know who's nailed and lively. I'm hoping it's Slobby.
