      Odegaard>Jesus
      Mbeumo>Foden

Then 10/10. Feel as though Odegaard ain't scoring 15 goals from a deeper position this season.

I hadn't even realised Andreas was injured. That's how closely I've been monitoring Fulham. They're going to struggle this season.

Enciso and the rest of the Seagulls - it's awkward that they open with 2 irresistible fixtures when we have no idea who will actually start those games.

Right. I'm starting with Ahamada. He'll prolly lose his starting spot once Olise returns and I'll be looking for an alterative 4.5 mid for my bench. By that time we'll have something to go on.

Yeah, he had a great preseason last year as well. Joey Barton raved about him when he managed him on loan. Think that's where the, slightly tongue in cheek, "Geordie Maradona" nickname comes from.

He can play number 8 or in the front line. I think he's still behind other players in terms of starting, but he will come off the bench regularly.

He was very unlucky not to get his first Prem goal against Forest last season.

      Surely the Scottish Maradona?

Looks like it was a squad game and the players may have been fatigued and it was played out in 32oC heat.

The stats suggests that Brighton dominated but I've only seen some goal clips.

Did the new Brighton keeper, Verbruggen equip himself okay or not?

      1. Hairy Potter
        • 9 Years

Lol, he's a Geordie from Whitley Bay. Some talk that he hasn't committed to Scotland at senior level and he could switch to England.

Newcastle weren't great in possession and the sight of Lascelles and Dummett playing out from the back wasn't great. Bruno still looks off the pace. Brighton were the better team in my opinion and passed and pressed well.

Verbruggen looked okay. Very similar to Steele. Hard to assess from the last two Brighton games as I think Newcastle press better upfront than Brentford, though Newcastle high press still isn't at the level it was last season. I think there was one pass that sticks out to a defender that maybe wasn't on and allowed Newcastle to get the ball and have a shot.

          That's funny.

          SofaScore have him as Scottish.

I've seen the highlights and the Brighton play out from the back did turn over a few Newcastle chances but they pressed high too.

I've got an inkling that Verbruggen starts the season in goal.

Should I go Ryan Christie instead? I'm going for a 4 mid, 3 forward combo with Haaland, Nkunku and Pedro in attack, Foden, Rashford, Saka and Mitoma in attack. This is for my bench rotation when needed.

        1. Bad Kompany
          • 6 Years

Id play those 7 over Christie every week so I’d just get the cheapest midfielder possible for your bench. Id probably prefer a cheap defender over a cheap midfielder to rotate with if that’s the route you want to go

Christie can rarely hit a barn door with a cricket bat. His shot to goal ratio is terrible, unfortunately he can’t finish. We cringe every time he has the ball in the box as invariably we know what will happen, it is only because of his 110% effort he puts in every week that we tolerate him!

      Solid

Not sure about João Pedro and his nailedness, Foden & Mitoma may miss some minutes due to attacking options for their respective teams ... and that bench means you can hardly rely on it with confidence if you are a player or two down so you will be dipping into transfers

Selling Salah would give a much stronger team overall

Thanks, yeah I just targeted the teams with best expected goals based off last season.

I really want Salah this year! Better midfield behind him. Don't mind Mitoma/Pedro with limited minutes. Brighton with the second best attack stat wise last year.

Foden I'm not too sure on. Rather go Martinelli/Akanji over Foden/Stones rn actually.

    2. Hotdogs for Tea

The question is whether Wissa & Mbeumo and Brentford in general will be as effective as last season without Toney.

A quick check of Wissa on Transfermarkt seems to suggest he has a higher strike rate out wide than he does when playing CF.

Mbeumo on penalties probably nails it between the two but midfield options are better in this price range than up top and I wouldn't go for the double up

Instantly down to 10 men if Haaland gets injured in the warm-up though.

        Thems the risks.
Might hopefully be a 4.5 forward that emerges or it will be an Archer 1 pointer.
I’d have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen though…

Sure, in your position I might take a look at, for examle, Rash->Jesus. then gw2 you know so mush more and have a flexibel situation to react

I see your point, but I don’t like Jesus.

    Should I
A Start with Salah -Chelsea away in g/w1 or
B Start with Bruno in g/w 1 - Wolves at home & bring in Salah for g/w 2 Bournemouth at home
I also have Trent Shaw & Rashford

Not a huge fan of cementing transfers, particularly week 1.

If you want Salah for week 2 then I'd start with him.

Definately A. You will have fires to put out post gw1.

Anyone looking at Robbo over Trent?? 1.5 cheaper and can still get assists

His attacking threat diminished greatly last season as did his clean sheet potential.

Only if Klopp reverts to his 4-3-3. So far he's not showing any signs that he will.

If he were 5.5 to 6 mil, then there may be a conversation to have.

I think at 6.5, he’s been priced out of the game as you can get much better value elsewhere.

Fundamentally this - also the reason Trent is still be picked is for oop opportunities- CS potential at Liverpool isn’t what it once was

Any reason Odegard could be bad this season? Lots of other options I can choose but have him for 1 week now.

There are suggestions that he’ll play deeper

He's not going to be bad but with Havertz arriving, maybe he plays a bit deeper?

      Still a great pick.

He was the 4th most advanced against Barcelona after Saka, Jesus and Trossard.

It was Havertz who played deeper.

More rotation at Arsenal plus the presumed occasionally deeper play.

Not at all. Just as good as a pick as last season, same role, right 8 linking up with Saka. Maybe those saying he'll be deeper don't realise Xhaka was left 8 not in double pivot..?

Who is the better option to start with?
    1. Darwin

    2. Nkunku

Nkuku has awesome fixtures from gw2.
Darwin is a good player but liverpool fovour Gakpo and Jota more. Atleast similar level if not more so even if he does great in one game he is gonna balance it out.

      B) Combo of 2 6.5 mids.
