50/50 for me but Eze is the main man at Palace, Mitoma has major competition - pretty good tie breaker

So general CS impressions? I thought Timber was really impressive, very tempted to take a chance on him over Saliba. Do think rotation will happen with him but he was really good and versatility should help. Foden looked threatening when he came on but mins a worry as usual. Odegaard was really solid but I thought he wasn't very advanced, but then again Arsenal didn't have loads of the ball. Havertz playing as a 9 has put me off considering him, but still he continues to get chances.

All in all I probably feel less clear on things than I did before the game

I think overall both teams were pretty poor, which is to be expected considering it's the first game back. Both teams created less than 1xG, with goals only coming through a moment of magic and a lucky deflection respectively.

From an FPL perspective, Timber and KDB have had their stock rise while Trossard and Foden have taken a hit, in my view. Pep did his usual 'use Haaland to distract the CBs so others can score' trick, so not really fair to judge him on this performance, but I'd be worried about the team's seemingly lack of creativity without De Bruyne on the pitch, if I was a bitter blue (God forbid).

Gutted Foden didn't start, he looked class when he came on and his turnover created City goal. Still think (hope) he gets a start on Friday, leak might sort that for us.

Thought Arsenal did a good job against Haaland and City in general. Happy to hold Gabriel.

The only counterpoint to that is Gabriel is in the box on corners with Saliba and Timber sitting back.

I'm tempted to go Saliba to Timber as he can get down the left.

I think he looked the best of the 3 and will start.

Game didn’t give me much clarity.

Taken Foden out of my draft. I suspect he will start on Friday but don’t want to spend the next few months fretting every weekend about whether he plays.

Saliba and Timber now tempt me over Gabriel as a differential

I made two, most probably temporary switches, after the game. Gabriel to Saliba. And Foden to Grealish

    Onana
    Estu, Gabriel, Porro
    Salah, Rashford, Saka, Mitoma
    Haaland, Jackson, Pedro
    Areola, Pau, Kabore, Nakamba.

Porro is the only one I'm thinking of changing. Maybe downgrade to a 4.5m palace defender and upgrade Nakamba to Brooks.

As someone who has played the game for a long time, perhaps I should know better but this has been bugging me this week.

In the past I've had 13 or 14 players who could start for me.

Have I been playing the game wrong all this time?

How many players do you choose as bench fodder?

    1. Admiral Benson
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 4 Years

I think you can play the game with 12 starters plus 2 fodder and a non-playing keeper until champions league starts.

Usually move to 13-14 playing players on first wildcard when bargains have emerged.

    2. ZiZou10
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I used to choose 12 players but last season I had 13-14 and whoever I would put on the bench would haul points, it happened time after time. I’m going back to bench fodder plus a 12th starter this season. Keeping it simple. I resented the game last season and lost over 160 points on the bench.

I always start with full on fodder, but try to make sure they are playing ones, bar maybe the keeper. Later in the season I maybe get one or two better subs.

2 playing bench players are plenty. That third bench might be used once or twice over a season, of course dependant on how much you gamble on your first 11 that is.

    GK Pickford, Turner
DEF Stones, Gabriel, Chillwell, Estupinain, Baldock
MID Salah, Saka, Martenilli, Rashford, Anderson.
    FWD Haaland, Pedro, Mubama

    Doing my head in now

Start with Salah and 4.5 frw and assess and swap to the best 8.5 mid and Watkins or just start with any of Martinelli Odegard Bruno and Watkins.

Salah C GW2 and get the best mid by GW 3 or just don't risk going without Watkins?

He's never been a good choice for a fantasy side unless it was on FH and had a super kind fixture.

5% ownership flatters him. If anything, playing OOP weakened Arsenal today also. And takes up both an Arsenal slot and a MID slot also when there are countless better options. But most of all, he's rank rotten.

It's crossed my mind tbh. Havertz that is, not the women's underwear.

Got into some good positions, and did well to get a couple of shots away. But I worry if against certain sides, Arteta may prefer more dynamism in the frontline with Trossard. May be dependant on the opponent.

Neale is the GOAT. Such great detail and insight.

Great to see Woodrow getting an assist. My favourite 4.5m forward atm.
