Is it possible to see someone's rank by GW? An hour or two ago I could see the rank for GW9 but now it's updated I can't access it. I've a friend who got 115 with no chips played and he was wondering how far he was off manager of the week. His GW rank is showing as 6,449 but when I could access the GW9 ranks before I couldn't find anyone above his score who hadn't played chips.

Even when teams are down to 24 or so, this is high

Someone talk me out of Alvarez, Maddison, Botman > Watkins, Saka, Lascelles for -8. Cheers.

    Areola
    Cash, Udogie, Burn
    Salah, Son, Maddison, Mitoma, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Alvarez

    (Turner, Gusto, Botman, Semenyo)
    1 FT, 1.8 ITB

    1. Oooo Matron

Yeah seems risky. Maddison could easily haul v Palace with no real threat. Botman will be back next week. Saka good, but not worth all those hits

Maddison fixture is not bad and team in good form right now, feels kind of hard to justify

Considering the same move. Have Son too so losing Madds is a bit easier to take.

Probably my move this week after the euro games have been played. Think there's a small chance Maddi could punish us this week but long term I think it's for the best (I will keep Son).

I wouldn't do it for a hit. I'm probably doing it because I have 2FT and it's a natural move. But for -4? Harsh.

Just a quick one fellas, who would you lose out of:

    A) Diaby
    B) JWP

This is mainly to acquire Watkins from previous post (many thanks for all the help I got with it)

    1. Bleh
      • 7 Years

      B. Diaby just feels wrong before Luton (despite the incoming Watkins).

Agreed, plus JWP just feels like he’s dropping too deep now, even Soucek is further up than himz could change instantly of course but yeah, has to be JWP doesn’t it. Cheers man!

I agree. Sods law he'll get a return vs. EVE now but there's less open play threat of late.

Yeah definitely less threat from open play, which counts for a lot actually, Palmer even with the tough fixtures looks really up for it and helps hugely with pens in his locker

    2. Tonyawesome69
      • 5 Years

Tough one. JWP has the better long term fixtures and more routes to points. Role might be an issue as he is playing deeper

It’s a toughie for sure buddy! But to keep seeing him blank like this with Bowen and Soucek hoovering up the points I reckon I’m happy to let him go.

        1. Tonyawesome69

Yeah understandable. Similar position holding Mbeumo for 4GW blank in a row but on the right side with his DD haul

            • 5 Years

I watched the game vs Villa and realised I shouldn't sell JWP with those upcoming opponents

West Ham will see a lot more of the ball in their next 8 games or so, increasing the number of set-pieces they'll get... And *every* JWP delivery or direct free kick causes issues for defences. Every one

And that's against the better defences. I think he's on for his usual 150+ points, but I'll probably ditch around GW15 to get Trippier back

Agreed! Would never happen but I think we should have a choice as FPL managers on how many of each position we get - say at the start of the season you can choose how many players from each position to get, and you then stick with that until wildcard where you can alter it.

Would make more competition as less templates - some may opt for a strong defensive set up e.g. having 6 or 7 defenders in your squad and play 5 weekly, others may see the value in midfield and play 6 or 7 midfielders...

For me he was always a short term play from GW8 wildcard to:

Yeah, I’m leaning the same way.
Sold haaland 2 weeks ago and have had some major green arrows, but feel the move is to get him back for the next two then move him on again. On paper I could see him outscoring son in those two games

  12. Ze_Austin

UCL wildcard, the one place where I'm comfortable selling Haaland:

    Kane Griezmann Alvarez
    Sane Bellingham Mendez Thuram
    Molina Di.Lorenzo Dumfries
    Sommer
    .
    ter.Stegen Galeno L.Hernandez Schar

Bellingham is currently my Tuesday captain, but I might end up slapping it on Kane later. Wednesday's cap is probably Griezmann vs Celtic

    Thoughts?

If there's anything that will keep Udogie from starting vs Palace, we'll surely find out in the Thursday presser (Ange is honest) or a Friday team leak

If Ange says nothing, then the early sub looks more like a rest or maybe he was in a bit of pain from the Palhinha challenge in the first half

That said, Gabriel vs Sheffield is still an easy buy, but maybe for someone else in the squad

            • 5 Years

Lmao. It's actually my distrust in Howe that made me go Botman to Coufal for GW9

Once that quote came out after the game, I laughed so hard. Typical, almost predictable at this point

They both ended up with 0 points anyhow, but Coufal has some nice games coming up and he was on my bench here anyway

        2. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years

Ah, defenders this season. I'm being quite ruthless with my transfers there, as none of them has been reliably fixture-proof so far... And this includes Trippier. Thinking...

GW10: Trippier to Gabriel, to fund Watkins and Saka
          GW11: Udogie to Guehi
          GW15: Cash to Trippier
          GW16: Guehi to Colwill
GW17: Gabriel + Coufal to Burn + Botman for the very temporary triple-up

Let's see how that pans out 😀 (I know I won't get the luxury of playing this plan out, but it's fun for me)

    Vicario / Diaby / Morris to Turner / Palmer / Watkins ?

Thanks Baps and Royal. Yes I want to keep Alvarez too (and Trippier, Salah, Saka, Halland, plus Maddison as paltry Son cover) so it is a challenge.

And I just realized it is for a -12 LOL don't know why I was thinking I had carried a transfer.

Depends who else you are lacking but near-future there are much more pressing targets in Watkins and Bowen. At least you can cover most of Trippier's points with a much cheaper alternative. You can't cover W&B.

Botman to Gabriel not tempting as alternative to B? But either way you would be buying a bit of a defender bench headache with your -4.

    Turner/Areola
    Trippier/Cash/Porro (Mitchell/Taylor)
    Diaz/Madds/Son/Bowen (Neto)
    Darwin/Haaland/Watkins

    2FT, 1.0itb

I could do a straight swap for Diaz->Saka or downgrade Neto to Palmer for funds.

Obvious omission is Salah. I would downgrade Haaland->Alvarez and Diaz-> Salah if I were to get him.

Any moves you see here? Thanks!

You could have just done JWP > Palmer tonight & waited on Alvarez > Watkins.

Palmer was rising (he did) but neither Watkins or Alvarez were remotely close to a price change.

Just good generic advice given there's European games midweek.

Yeah agreed, I could have just waited, but was adamant I wanted Watkins and didn’t wanna talk myself out of it haha! It would of helped with any injuries of course, but still happy making my first early move of the season hehe

This is where I tell you could have waited on the FWD part of that move tonight. Neither Alvarez or Watkins are changing in price 😆

Say Haaland got injured on Weds on the dodgy pitch at the Wankdorf Stadium!

Hoping Watkins holds tomorrow for that very reason (or any other UCL game).

But yeah I'll be joining you with it soon enough!

Depends on your team points if he does explode. Should allow you a better balanced team. Alvarez is impacting his FPL returns. City not as predictable this season as last when they were more reliant on Haaland returns. Should improve when De Bruyne returns. Rest of the City team can't find Haaland as easily and quick as De Bruyne which can throw opposition defences.

Yep hard to prod holes in what you say there, it’s just a gamble I can’t be prepared to take at this stage I guess when trying to just hold ground right now and be that little bit safer with him for now. Think I'll give Haaland next two games & assess - if he can't haul v Bournemouth at home then it's a sell for me.

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years

Salah didn't haul vs Bournemouth, so some people sold him

Haaland got just 4 points vs Sheffield, so some people didn't cap him vs Fulham the next GW

It's nowhere near that predictable, imo

...neither did Salah after Bournemouth, and then he didn't face low-level opponents until GW9. That's what I'm saying 😀

That high Salah points total came in one of the worst fixture runs he'll have this season, and he did that after scoring just the rebound penalty vs Bournemouth

With lads like Haaland, Salah and Son, fixture difficulty doesn't help so much. It could just be that they have more space in these games. I dunno

Foden and Mbeumo would be my priority exits here, as the others are doing well enough to stay. You've missed Trippier's best run, imo. Not that he's a bad asset, just that there are higher priorities now when it comes to value + points potential over the next 6, including the Saliba you're selling

I'd go with C but make it Bowen and Mitoma

This might let you afford Gusto to Guehi in GW11

I know people said prices don't lock while a player is injured, but there is definitely something in the formula that slows down price changes for flagged players. If you are yellow/orange/red you can be -100.0 on FPL stats for days (sometimes weeks) without the price change.

Estupinan has had 3 price drops in the same time frame so that is not consistent

I'd switch Diaz (back) to Maddison. They're not even close in points potential this season, imo

Don't think Raya is needed when you've got White, as he can drop out any time for Ramsdale... And will definitely sit out the Brentford game anyway

I don't see many games where you'd want to play Burn any time soon. I'd slot Coufal or Tsimikas in there instead

I see that TV is keeping you away from Haaland, so I'll leave that decision as you've already made it

So, Diaz + Digne + Burn + Raya to Maddison + Cash + Coufal/Tsimi + Turner for me

      1. Hazz
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

West Ham (Areola) have BUR when Arsenal (Raya) Play Brentford, so I think if you want to go with an ARS keeper - this is a good combo.

I agree with you on probably not wanting to play Burn much. 10/12/15 is where he'd be considered but...

        Fixtures: 10/12/15
        NEW: Wol/Bou/Eve
        ARS: Shh/Bur/Lut
        AVL: Lut/Ful/Mci
        CRY: Tot/Eve/Bou

You're note gonna play Burn ahead of Trippier & you're not gonna play him ahead of White & Digne's fixtures? Fulham maybe but... yeah. Guehi also covers Digne's GW15 fixture too.

I'd day just get one of Burn/Guehi.

Coufal or Tsimikas is a shout but when will be play them?

          • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Technically could even go without Digne instead & keep Burn/Guehi. Both perhaps better defences than Aston Villa? But get it's to cover Cash.

        2. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years
          1 year, 9 days ago

Ah yes, the 5th defender can be fodder to afford Raya

I like the Areola Turner all the way to GW19 though, as Sanchez can then come in for one of them in GW20... While the fifth defender can be useful in BGW18 (far away, tbf). It won't hurt to get 'em off the bench during the coming fixture congestion, but your suggestion works just as well

I get all your points, it just feels very template - maybe i'm getting jaded with endless conformity in FPL. Coufal is massively overperforming xgi, i feel like tsimikas minutes are questionable.

Diaz is massively underperforming on xGI and literally nobody in my MLs owns him with great fixtures coming up, whereas every man and his dog owns maddison and son combo, plus cash, watkins etc.

I'll judge this as a Haaland-less one and not make recommendations in relation to to that.

I like it. 2x ARS defensive cover is a nice differential & Digne over Cash is a fair enough differential (given the budgetary constraints).

Personally not sure that you need Burn AND Guehi. You could go with one fodder, with would allow Maddison over Diaz, or Cash over Digne.

I get the play with Diaz (fixtures) but Maddison certainly has performed better than him this season.
