Yesterday Gabriel and Mbeumo rose and fell by £0.1m respectively
Today Gabriel being sold and Mbeumo being bought - will either of them reach a net zero price change for the week?

FPL owners remind me of the words of the great philosopher queen Katy Perry.

Doing Haaland -> Alvarez allows me Diaz -> Salah with cash to spare, but just can't imagine going without the robot, as think he'll start exploding soon. Will probably end of keeping him and find another route to do Diaz -> Salah.

With the recent news about Diaz, I'm not sure is head is in football right now and understandably so. This makes him a risky pick in FPL.

Maybe move him on to Bowen or Mitoma? Archer to Nketiah is also a decent move

Yeah Mcatee is considered the biggest talent to come through city's academy since Foden. Followed his PL2 player of the season with a key role in getting Sheffield promoted on loan. Pep was going to keep him at city this year until mcatee pushed for another loan. Obviously he won't dominate games now that he's playimg for the league's whipping boys.

You could have asked "in addition to "Saka, Salah AND Adingra".

I wouldn't go without a Spurs player as they are in great form and without the Cup games middle of the week.

Diaby maybe short-term but I think JWP in that price range would be the better pick until December.

"Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) kept things ticking over with another assist (and yes, it was an assist in FPL terms)"

I don't think so. The goalkeeper does not just deflect the ball, he deliberately changed the direction when trying to save the corner kick. Also, Nketiah was not a CLEAR target as there were other players around him.

Smells a lot like popular (english) player bonus. But it's like with VAR, vague rules and poor decision making.

    https://www.premierleague.com/news/825262

[But in FPL, the basic definition of an assist is extended.

Firstly, the rules on touches of the ball by opponents are relaxed.

An assist can be awarded for a pass or cross, even if an opponent gets a touch before the goal is scored. However, that touch must not significantly alter the intended destination of the ball.

That "intended destination" can often be a team-mate if he is a clear target. But it may also be an area of the pitch.]

Speaking of popular English assists, Maddison shot going miles wide before Joel Ward changes its direction. An assist in FPL terms, not an assist in the real world. Its a game, stuff happens etc try not to take it too seriously

speaking of dodgy assists Neal Maupay overruns what must have been a 0.99 XG, gets tackled by Sanchez and gets an assist.

Well, if you think Saka's corner was a shot on goal which was blocked by the goalkeeper, okay, then you can also give him the assist.

His corner was not a shot on goal and came down like a bird's feather though with a clear change of direction by the keeper. That's never ever a rebound.

If the ball had been deflected the other way, the corner would have scored an assist (like Madders) and NOT a goal. I can't hear anyone complaining about Madders not being awarded 5 points for his "goal".

Of course, Saka owners will not want to change the rules, but it still doesn't make it right if such "assists" are sometimes awarded and sometimes not.

This is why the game is called Fantasy Premier League.

Sometimes things go in your favour and sometimes they don't...

If it was shot, did gk get save from it(?) I was told that it was a cross when A was not awarded to my player who gave corner in exactly similar situation. Unfortunately I don't remember when that happened. But it certainly did happen.

        3. Hotdogs for Tea
          • 9 Years

As I said, check the rebound rules. Sometimes corners can swing in and be heading to goal and the keeper has to save it ... that is what I would call a shot.

Other corners are generally in a dangerous area and the keeper comes out to clear it, that is what I would not call a shot at all and no assist should come of it.

          Rebounds
If a shot at goal is blocked by an opposition player, saved by a goalkeeper, or hits the woodwork, and from the rebound a goal is scored, then a Fantasy assist is awarded. The shot does not have to be on target to result in a Fantasy assist. The action leading to the rebound can be a shot or a cross-shot, but not an intended cross or pass attempt, as determined by Stats Perform.

If a significant touch is made by an opposition player after the blocked effort, then no Fantasy assist is awarded.

              Totally different.

The keeper was coming out to the ball on the edge of the six yard box for the Gordon cross and no way could that be considered a shot, it would never have reached the goal or even (barely) gone out of play beyond the keeper. It also deflected off another player after the keeper's involvement.

For the Saka assist the keeper was heading backwards to his goal line and actually saved the corner that may have even dropped into the corner of the goal or hit the post.

Surely you can see the difference between the two ?

Just explaining why Saka correctly had has assist awarded in accordance with the FPL rules I posted.

I agree 100%, I am a guy who usually defends that kind of decisions because at the end of the day they are correct, just FPL following their own rules. But here I just don't get it, Nketiah isn't the target of Saka's delivery, he's aiming 6 yard box and it happen that Nketiah is the one doing the run plus of course there's goalie interfering with the cross. Without goalkeeper stopping the ball it would go to Havertz who was at the far post, that was (somewhat) Saka's target.

I think it will start unnecessary motion of awarding dodgy assists, this "area of the pitch" is total BS, nothing in the rules about it.

The three promoted sides are terrible, the worst collective promoted sides I can ever recall and poor Luton didn't even play. Burley winning that Championship by so far and still being so poor tells you a lot about Luton. Everton getting a -12 is the only thing that can save any of them which would be extremely fortunate since Everton's offending was in another season which didn't impact on them.

On another note Manchester City are fantastic at flogging UK goalkeepers who look the part on paper. James Trafford is another Bazanu, I'm not sure how he got lobbed by Billing.

I've unfortunately ventured on another journey with Gabriel despite owning him for his entirety at the start of the season when he didn't play and then offloading when he started so I feel responsible for this happening partly. I'm getting off this particular wagon this week even though I didn't intend on playing him next week. Burn is in Eddie's plans permanently, Arteta clearly has an issue with Gabriel as he never rotates Saliba.

Thoughts on Gordon & Nunez to Maddison & Foster? Not keen on midfield double ups but at this point, the only player posing a major threat to my rank is Maddison. Haaland still up there but he got points GW9 and did not do much damage whether he was capped or not. Seems like only a seriously big haul from him and and having a pathetic team score will hurt. When he blanks or has an average score, serious gains for non owners.

Getting rid of Nunez before Luton seems brave; I was thinking of getting him in. You have a highly loaded defence and after yesterday, maybe the Trippier has peaked line is right?

However, Nunez is a minutes risk and I always like to have an obvious 8th attacker so go for it

I don't want to play the same defence every week and they rotate really well plus my TV is 104m.

Of course I will wait and see what happens later but if I do go for Maddison, it makes my chances better of geeting the best team score. Nunez is still a minutes risk as well and I am picking between him and Gordon for my last attacking spot each week so Maddison will resolve that issue.

Can see the appeal of letting Gordon go tbf. Does Trippier/Gordon to Maddison/Burn work money wise? Think Trip’s golden phase has sailed now

No point in getting rid of Trippier if you own him. Getting him back will be a headache at his ptice.

Something I've learnt from sometimes bitter experience, when in doubt play the more expensive player with a home fixture.

e.g. I should have played J.Andersen instead of Burn this weekend.

The biggest problem with my team is that I dont have Son. I've been working on the assumption that Madisson is enough to cover him, but if they keep this up we're gonna need both.

Neale's scout notes are just so damn good. So readable -- he doesn't simply state what happened -- and that stuff on Gabriels minutes is just fantastic insight. As someone who has written many community articles, I know how difficult it is to get them up to this standard.

I read through the transcript of Arteta's press conference on football London and couldn't find out why Gabriel was benched. Of course none of the so called "journalists" asked directly about it. Trust Neale to find the golden quote that we all missed.

Thoughts on a Neto replacement. Hes going to miss a couple at least with a hammy.

A: Hwang or will he suffer without the assist machine?
B: Gordon or are Newcastle a bit leggy?
C: Douglas Luiz despite having Cash & Watkins?

You are pretty up to date with info missed out on.

Gordon is a really nice asset to own. If he plays LW he will see lots of minutes. Playing up top is where things could get tricky with him being subbed off early for Wilson or being benched if he does not play LW.

Interestingly Howe hasn't been subbing him off when Newcastle needed a goal in the last 2 games. That bodes well for him and suggests he looks to Gordon for goals.

    Morning all,

Currently have this lot and 1 FT and 0.4m itb

    Areole Turner
    Trips Burn Cash Udogie Kabore
    Salah Maddi Bowen D.Luiz Gordon
    Haaland Darwin Watkins

Is Trips/ Maddi to Son/Saliba (or anyone else up to 5.5m) for a hit worth it?

Having massive regret going Maddi over Son and think Son will be right up there with the golden boot.

    Cheers!

I would wait until after the cup games mid week before you move Tripps to Saliba.

But basically I agree, Son could outscore Haaland this season if he remains fit. If that's the only way to get him in, then do it.

Has there ever been a stronger Championship? The top 6 have 82 seasons’ experience between them and include a former champions and reigning 1st Division champions.

I wish Luton, SHU and Burnley all the best but think the league will be more balanced next year with less rushing to get players for the next newly promoted team hammering

Speaking from experience as a fan of a side (Derby) who were in there for a while and now languish in League 1, we were dreadful for quite a while and somehow kept surviving, mainly because FFP has seriously hampered half the sides in that league and there are loads of points penalties. When we made the playoff final in 2018/19 the teams in those playoffs were us, Villa, Leeds and West Brom (when they were half decent). You can see how far the league has fallen looking at last years playoff final with respect to Luton and Coventry, Sunderland were just promoted and missing a striker for half the season and they made the playoffs, Blackburn had a negative GD and just missed out. Its not a competitive league like it used to be. I think we'll see a few sides looking really decent like Burnley did only to find that the reality is the gulf to the PL is much deeper and you need serious investment to stay there like Forest did.

I’d normally agree with that; the gap is depressingly large (speaking as a casual Watford fan). Think Leicester may be an exception - they have the team and the finances. It’d be interesting to see how other recent PL teams would get on, such as Leeds or Southampton

      2. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 4 Years

As a fan of another club in a similar boat (Reading), I can't agree more, the gap is only getting worse each year. Covid did a number on EFL clubs in particular for finances but the issues have always been there. People think parachute payments are good, and they can be if utilised well but they can also encourage irresponsible behaviour. You can have what happened with us where owners think the best thing to do is spend all of the money instantly and effectively pay PL wages (since other EFL clubs can't afford to do it so you can attract talent that they can't or beat them to certain players), but effectively gamble that you're going straight back up. Look at the damage it's done to us after we missed out in the playoff final in 2017. Dai Yongge is the reason why we've fallen so far but other clubs have taken the same risk then can't get the wages off the books when it fails. Think it's going to be a rarity now that you'll see clubs come up and do anything like what Swansea or Brentford did. Some clubs are sensibly run like Norwich but it also means when they make it up, they're all the more likely to drop straight back.

seem to be going the right way, top manager but they weren't better than Plymouth last season and barely better than Sheffield Wednesday either. I think they're getting by on momentum still from last season which is no bad thing but they'll need a lot more should they get promoted. The fact Leicester are 14 points clear of 3rd already further illustrates my point about the league, one or two decent sides, loads of middling inconsistent sides, half a league of dross. Cardiff and Hull being in the playoff places.... yikes.

I keep waiting for the Alvarez bubble to burst, after all he’s supposed to be filling in for KDB as a playmaking role rather than a striker. I suspect he’s going to have a similar role and impact as Gundo which, combined with his obvious quality, makes him pretty indispensable.

I’m not ready for Darwin yet but he could be gold and has Luton next
