In addition to Niclas Füllkrug, there could be another surprise change on the lineup against Denmark tonight. David Raum is said to be currently ahead of Maximilian Mittelstädt at left-back after he left a strong impression in training. Raum has so far only made a substitute appearance against Switzerland and assisted Füllkrug's last minute equalizer [@BILD]

      I'm going with both, but...

Morata scored a hattrick against them in qualifying and would probably be no.1 for me, but I agree with your previous post about his mins potentially being more capped than Yamal.

Joey shared this article about Spain subs:
      https://www.relevo.com/futbol/eurocopa-masculina/espana-respeta-georgia-margen-cuidar-20240627085832-nt.html

Seems like Le Normand, Carvajal & Pedri are the main candidates to go off. Morata & Williams also tend to be subbed around 70 so maybe Yamal will be good for 90.

Also seems like Georgia have conceded most chances down Yamal's flank, and hardly anyone here seems to be picking him.

      I'm going 3x England, 2x Spain, 2x Germany, 2x Portugal, 2x France, 2x Netherlands, 1x Italy and 1x Austria...

I can withold more surprises (favourites going out). In your case, Portugal or Spain go out, you are done.

            • 8 Years
            6 months, 19 days ago

True but favourites are unlikely to go out, so you play the game 100 times, and you'll have to make more transfers than me on average, according to my brain. Safer to go with the odds and make extra transfers only if necessary imo

              • 6 Years

But I only picked favourites for this round (except 1 italian, which is a tight match).
How do you determine who will win in GER-SPA, FRA-POR or NED-AUS, for example?

              • 6 Years

You are basically saying that Portugal and Spain will win vs France and Germany, which I'm not that sure that the reverse is even a surprise.

              1. Deulofail
                • 8 Years
                6 months, 19 days ago

Yes, Portugal and Spain are my picks to go far in the tournament, along with Austria. I can't determine anything, of course, a I'm no God (yet), and I don't know if they are the favourites in the QF games, but they are my favourites. Either way, the logic stays the same:

If you pick 4 players from the team that's more likely to win, you might have to make 4 transfers when they lose, but you are more likely to save transfers, because they are more likely to win than lose. If you repeat this process, you will make an average of

                1. Deulofail
                  • 8 Years
                  6 months, 19 days ago

...less than 2 transfers each time. Maybe I make 4 Spain transfers and 0 Portugal transfers after the QFs, or vice versa.

If you pick 2 players from each team, you are guaranteed to make 2 transfers, which is worse than "less than 2".

Maybe I make 8 transfers because both those teams lose, but 0 transfers is more likely than 8 (assuming I am right about who the favourites are), and the alternative is a guaranteed 4. Is 4 safer? It's more than the 2FTs, so I would argue not.

So even if the QF games you mention are tight to call, if you have a favourite, there is an advantage to back them, however small, and a disadvantage to bet against them.

And if there are hypotheticaly no favourites (literally and precisely 50/50), both methods would be as "safe" as each other imo, though only one COULD get you a big points haul. That said, if your only goal is to win, it's "safer" to go big or go home.

AHHHHHH 20 mins till deadline and I spent my time writing this instead of panicking earlier

After some good advice aroun here, I guess this might be the final draft:

    Pickford - 30/06
    Diogo Costa - 01/07

    Stones - 30/06
    Kyle Walker - 30/06
    Cucurella - 30/06
    João Cancelo - 01/07
    Van Dijk - 02/07

    Gundogan - 29/06
    Musiala - 29/06
    Nico Williams - 30/06
    Bruno Fernandes - 01/07
    Sabitzer - 02/07

    Morata - 30/06
    Yamal - 30/06
    Depay - 02/07

Still have 7.5M in the bank, and the WC in the safe.

    Changes:
    - No players in risk of second yellow card ban (Stones and Walker in for Guéhi and Carvajal).
    - Tripled on England defense (Yamal on for Kane) and tripled Spanish attack.

Strategy was to deploy players from both sides of the bracket (almost evenly - or 1 transfer away from it) and spreading from different teams just enough so I can still have the option to push the WC to the semi-finals if things break my way.

    Any thoughts about it?

I'm not overly worried about guys on TCs. Even not using the WC in the QFs, you still get three free subs which should really cover anyone that gets a second one. I'm going for the guys that i think can get the most points this GW, and if i have to sub one or two out next week, so be it

      1. Gullit
        • 6 Years

I'm just covering all basis (trying).

Because between Guéhi and Trippier or Stones and Walker, there shouldn't be much difference.

And backing more Spanish attacking players, while backing more English defenders, seems to make sense.

WC left. Any thoughts on last two spots?

    Pickford (SVK) Costa (SLN)
Guehi (SVK) Cancelo (SVN) Carvajal (GEO) Cucurella (GEO) XXX
Bruno (SVN) Gundo (DEN) Williams (GEO) Sabitzer (TUR) Baumgartner (TUR)
    Morata (GEO) Ronaldo (SVN) XXX

Thinking Walker/Mendes/Rudiger & Gakpo/Mbappe/Yamal (swapping out Cucurella) for last two spots.

Stick with Musiala as captain with 18 points or put in Ruiz or Morata as captain?
