I don't think adding ball recovery's is too complicated, imo the current BPS system is too complicated and convoluted, I'd wager that only a tiny % of the player base knows how they are tallied up, the Sky system with tackles or the Uefa system with recovery's is much easier to understand imo

If they keep the current BPS system then I'd personally like to see players from both teams in a match get bonus points regardless of the result, as I'm sure there would be quite a few hidden gem bonus magnets from crap teams that you wouldn't normally consider that would help expand the viable player pool

It probably won't be any of the above though, but I do think last season's challenge FPL was possibly a trial run of being able to change your team throughout the gw, maybe not transfers after the deadline but certainly being able to change captain before he plays or make manual subs if one of your players doesn't start etc could be possible

Without too much effort from FPL Towers; I think limitless would make sense.
Everyone would like Tfr's up to kick off but the system will crash or there will be no live info available for a few hours.
Updating Captains will be frowned upon by the lazy managers.
Ball recoveries will take extra work for FPL Towers.
I would love transparency for transfers and FPL Towers to get rid of effective ownership by limiting information.
The game has become the stats junkies domain, so awarding MOM by a panel might help.
In the end, the game will want to encourage clicks and I can't help but think the new but pointless game at the end of last season was a trial run for change in the real game.
Most people want to spend 20 minutes each week changing teams; not like engaged managers who tend to be addicted like myself (smile)

Why change it?! Leave it as it is, if anything get rid of the triple captain chip as it’s rubbish and boring and replace it with something like defence scores x 3 for a single game week! I also agree ball recoveries should be introduced and also if a player gives away a penalty should be -3 points…last seasons prior an own goal is -2 points and there’s no penalisation for giving away a pen?!

How is this? My only worry is Mbappe but he is against Navas and Nacho. Think Dembele & Morata could be a good shout too.

    Pickford / Simon
Kounde / Hernandez / van Dijk / Dumfries / Guehi
    Bellingham / Saka / Ruiz / Olmo (C) / Williams
    Mbappe / Depay / Gakpo

Mbappe big game player, I wouldnt dare to go without him rest of the tournament.

Dumfries, I am not sure he will have that much space against England.

Mid i very attacking I would get few ball recovery mids

I like your attack but I went Kane instead Depay in the end. Netherlands concede a lot of headers and Kane could exploit that.

      Who are your captains?

    Mbappe Gakpo Morata
    Saka Olmo Rodri Simons Williams
    Joined Cucurella Stones Guehi
    Pickford

Would u use WC? Can’t really see much improvement even if I do. Might as well save for final?

Likely to be higher scores in semis and 5 changes for the final. I think WC semis best.

No point in WC in final when you only need 11 players.

Also you are missing 2 players, plus who is Joined?

Front 8 looks fine but defence is really important at this stage. Would definitely want more Spain/France defenders, depending on how you see that game going

I think I am settled with this. Any thoughts?

    Maignan Pickford
    Hernandez Kounde Laporte Guehi VVD
    Olmo Rodri Ruiz Jude Rice
    Mbappe Kane Gakpo

I was on Depay instead Kane, but Netherlands concede a lot of headers and I think Kane could exploit that. With same thinking maybe to put Stones instead Guehi as bigger aerial threat from corners?

Not really happy with 5 England players but should be fine for finals if they are out.

Expect the first SF will be pretty tight but I think Spain will edge it 1-0 / 2-0 so considering Cucurella (C) - at this stage I'd be very happy with 9pts (x2).

This french team will likely suck the soul out of the game and it will finish 0-0 so perhaps a defender could be good!

If they were to add this mid gameweek changes to FPL the game would dead for me. I absolutely hate the fantasy games where you have to make changes all the time between games. Just let me have this simple system FPL please.

I'm far from casual and I really cba with fiddling with my team 3 times a week for 9 months. That Xmas period would be so annoying too.

Like someone else said - it's manageable for tournament football (even the CL game I forget about), but a whole season is just too much. Make it a separate game, like the Challenge mode, if there's a real appetite for it, but the main game should be as simple and accessible as possible.

There's no chance they'll introduce this type of format. It might work in a tournament, but not in a full-season game.

If they did, the usual 60% of dead teams will become more like 80% by October.

I would actually quite like it tbh. Of course I'd miss the occasional deadline, like everyone, but even if I can't make any changes for a midweek game I still check the lineups so it wouldn't be such a great inconvenience to me. Think there's a definite skill edge to be gained by planning your subs for this which would make for interesting strategy

I still play the Sky game but don't give it as much attention as FPL. No bench but you can make transfers and change captains each day during a GW. Always funny when missing a deadline (or running out of transfers, maximum of 5 per GW and no hits) benefits you and it happens more than you'd expect, but would probably mean regular minor annoyances if FPL introduced something similar.

    Hello,
Does anyone know where I could find stats showing from where the Netherlands conceded goals or better Xga or actions?
My feeling is that Ake is much better than Dumfries defensively and that therefore it might be a Foden match even though Saka has clearly been the better player.

Think you might have to go through each match individually, but I like the shot maps on fotmob:
      https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/matches/turkiye-vs-netherlands/1gotp4#4043981:tab=stats

You can click on each dot to see xG, shot taker, direction etc.

I would also agree, on the balance of what I've seen, that they're weaker down their right flank (but still unsure about Foden)

Interesting that no one seems to be considering the strategy of blocking out Spain defence next round, considering how blunt, and overreliant on a seemingly neuteured Mbappe, France have looked in attack. Is it because of the age of Navas/Nacho? Because you'd need 2 FTs to switch back to Carvajal / Le Normand for the final? I'm considering doing this with FTs even at the expense of leaving a couple of dead spots in midfield. Just don't think there'll be all that many points for midfielders in this fixture. Also if the final is Spain v Netherlands I might only play 3 at the back expecting BTTS so I don't think I'd need to use any further FTs on defence in the final anyway

Most RMTs and YouTubers I've seen have 2 french and 2 Spanish defenders and keepers. I've currently gone for Unai, Cucu, Kounde and Saliba. Part of the argument for less Spanish defenders is that the french midfield options are pants, so 2-3 Spanish midfielders with Mbappe upfront is popular. I think I'm taking a punt on Dembele over Kane if he starts

That kind of makes me want to do it even more... in practice though I'll probably max out 3 at Spain defenders since I already have Yamal & Williams & I like Olmo

The game isn't perfect, but the whole notion of fantasy football is nonsensical anyway and I am not sure a perfect approach exists, having played many of the games starting all the way back with Shoot! magazine's Dream Machine in about 1996. Even though I spend plenty of time on FPL, I don't want rolling caps or subs within a weekend, the fact that doesn't exist makes FPL much more laid back and fun. Personally I would prefer them to leave it as it is, or get rid of some chips.
