Going to be some bargain basement clear outs coming ; United NEED AWB and Maguire to leave among others.

Why do we NEED them to leave?

Because United are struggling with PSR big time. They need to trim the squad hence why “the entire squad”’is open to offers.

We have one other right-back in Dalot and have already lost two centre-halves. The defence is not what needs trimming.

No but you can’t have a hoofer like Maguire stinking up the bench if your goal is to play how (I think) Ten Hag wants to play. They should’ve forced the West Ham move last year when they had the chance. Can’t afford to let AWB walk on a free next year either.

Just say you don't watch the games mate - Maguire is far from a "hoofer" and Ten Hag doesn't even know how he wants to play, by the way. We'd only get about £10m for Wan-Bissaka so might as well keep him.

Probably depends on how much they can get for Sancho ; keeping isn’t an option if they’re going to breach PSR ; that’s why teams are coming in with low offers. If you want to play out from the bacm Maguire is about the last CB I want in my team.

His 83% passing accuracy last season says different. Shocking for a big 6 centre half!

That’s what happens when there’s literally no midfield in front of you - watch the games, not the stats

I do watch games thank you Jim and Maguire is very awkward on the ball. With the same midfield ahead of them Lindelof and Varane had passing accuracies of 89% and Evans had 87.5%. You jump in two-footed with comments like "Just say you don't watch the games mate" and you don't know what you are talking about a large proportion of the time! Calm down!

Lindelof barely played and Varane was far less comfortable on the ball, hence why he did best partnered with Maguire or Martinez.

                        Again, eye-test > context-less pass completion stats.

Lindelof played enough to attempt 927 passes to Maguire's 1103! You're seeing different games to me mate! From watching games I had this suspicion so I decided to look into the stats!

You are so wrong mate, on all your points. Ten Hag wants to play a high line but he cant because of our center backs and defensive defenders such as AWB. That is why we must sell Maguier, Lindelof and AWB and sign Mazraoui and De Light.

Not sure how "De Light" helps us play a high line when he's also slow. Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka don't even start and neither will Mazraoui when everyone's fit.

    Check this one out.

    Areola Slicker
    Gvardiol Konsa Martinez Burn Faes
    Salah KdB Foden Palmer Rogers
    Havertz Isak Scarlett

KdB is a pretty crazy punt but if he's fit, 9.5m is a good price. Could he still be good value? I wouldn't mind bumping him up to Saka but not sure how I'd make 0.5m from this team.

Agree with you about Trent for England but from what I understand Slot's RCM role is completely different to what Trent played for England. Drifts wide a lot and overlaps the RW. This would suit Trent.

I think there's a dearth of top available coaches in Europe at the minute, so they're taking a chance on someone who did well in the Dutch league.

Bit deeper than that I suspect. How he plays, how he sets up teams, how it gels with the squad he’ll inherit. How he works is far more important than anything, they think he’s a natural successor rather than chancing it with a name.

    Palmer points look restricted

He becomes a system player with less counter attacks to win penalties.

Chelsea will need time to adapt to a possession based system.

This system does seem to favour the no 9 and 10 positions.

    Thoughts

I hope you are right, I dropped Palmer - going three up front, three man midfield. 4/5 high XG defenders which can be rotated.

      Pope (Turner)
      -
Saliba - Romeo - Konsa - TAA (Anderson)

      --
Foden - Salah - Gordon (McTominay, Franca)
      --
      Watkins - Solanke - Isak

Looks surprisingly balanced, plus I think (McTominay, Franca) could offer great value. Will try and keep similar team to this for a month - 5 transfers etc.

Nkunku is on the watchlist, To be honest I don't trust him. Plus Chelsea are a team in flux. A very inconsistent side. Bargains will emerge later maybe. But they are all over the place as a club.

was it 9 he got last year? even if they end with 6 or so this season taking 18-20 points away from his total last season still leaves him with a great ppg

and City attacking assets have perfectly fine to own under Pep, Arsenal attackers under Arteta, admittedly dont know much about Maresca but if its much the same they dont see why it limits Palmer's potential

got the point about taking time to adapt though, can understand why some want to wait and see

I am 50-50 on him. As good as he is half his goals were from penalties probably and 10.5 is a steep price. If nkunku can stay fit i would prefer him

Saka seems bit overpriced. Havertz looks like better cheaper option.

      Not injured

Some suggestions that he won't be in the preferred XI, but I don't get it. Kelly or Krafth to partner Schar instead? I dunno, but I don't see why

I have him in there for now in my Newcastle 4.5 CB slot. TBD via preseason

I think they bought someone and I read a story about him being not nailed. Livramento was mentioned and someone else. At this stage it's unfortunately far too early to tell. I will try to avoid all possible risks this time, but probably "Gabriel" happens out of the blue again with my luck.

I am taking a chance on Franca for Palace an attacking midfielder who Palace have high hopes for, might break into the side more this season.

I also like McTominay for 5m if he keeps up his knack of bombing forward and getting goals, could be great value.

the revamped European formats are going to have a big impact on teams aren't they? Tougher group matches, no qualifying after 4 matches only and being able to rest players. More matches to play. Big incentive to not be outside the top 8 in the league table to avoid playing a round of 32 in the KOs.

think it puts off early WC or whatever, minutes for top 6-8 sides might be more managed than ever in the league. Can see players like Eze/Mateta/Muniz/Solanke/Mbeumo/Hwang/Pedro etc becoming very popular after the first 4-6GWs. Triple Newcastle will be the template

True. Each game and each goal in CL gonna count now. Teams would want to finish in top 8 out of 36. Cant see top teams rotating too much in CL now. I personally feel its gonna be a more exciting cl format

yea agreed. like someone out City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Leverkusen, Atletico, Inter, PSG etc top teams will miss out on that 8th place. nothing can be taken for granted

    Two preseason questions:

Who slots into his place in their midfield?

    ...and who's now on pens?

Tielemens probably, if he is on the pitch. If not, who knows, between McGinn and Watkins, I'd probably lean towards McGinn.

Anyone else considering Toney in an early draft on the basis that if he does go somewhere like Arsenal he could well be a steal at 7.5M? Certainly, I would prefer him over Havertz in that scenario.

    1. F4L
      • 9 Years

yea more chance he ends up at Spurs if they fail to get any other options in. doubt Arteta would sign any striker to start ahead of Havertz this window

Why not start with Havertz and shift to Toney if Arsenal sign him? Seems an unnecessary thing to do.

Do 4.5 rotating keepers over a set and forget 4.5 ever work? In theory, it makes sense attacking home fixtures but I wonder if anyone has ever done any calculations.

I tried it at across at least 3 seasons and it never works out. You will have one keeper playing Burnley at home, the other away to City. The guy playing City will get a mega haul and the guy playing Burnley will get a 1 pointer. You never get it right. It will drive you insane.

      1. jacob1989

Not that it never works. It does make it bit more fun to play.

On Sanchez and Turner here at the moment. Although I don't particularly rate Chelsea, I still think that's a bargain. Sanchez is a good keeper as well.

I'd agree about Sanchez if I was certain he was the number 1. Does anyone know? Got to be a chance given there's not much between them that the slightest mistake and he's hooked for Petrovic too

I would imagine if you get the 'right' 4.5m keeper you're a lot better setting and forgetting. Pickford in particular but Leno too last season would have done better given a whole season than rotating any of the others.

Hi all. Sorry of this is the wrong place to ask but hey. Does anyone know for sure whether or not it is possible to have two or more admins in a league. I have not seen it done but chat GBP says yes. Looking st the FPL 'administer' settings it appears you can delete an admin so I would think you certainly can add one.

You can delete a league or change its administrator, but a league can only have one admin at a time.
If you have to go away for a few weeks then you could perhaps hand over to a temp admin while you're away, and then get the temp to return the admin to you when you get back.
You could still have a small committee to keep records and make decisions, but only the current admin can perform the options listed under Administer.
If you have other problems that are not covered by this, use Contact Us under the Help tab to ask FPL support about it.
I wouldn't trust AI chatboxes such as Chat GBP, since they can often give unreliable answers.
