Curious to know what the highest predicted team is for the first 5 gameweeks does anyone know? Does it have Haaland, Salah, Palmer, Saka, Foden, Gvardiol, TAA etc

Latest draft, slightly compromised in midfield but I'm happy to get Trent, Salah and Haaland in aswell as Havertz from the Arsenal attack. I think the enablers can do well enough to make this work. Any thoughts?

    Flekken

    Trent, Mykolenko, Livramento

    Salah, Nkunku, B.Johnson, ESR

    Haaland, Havertz, Isak

    (4.0, Andersen, Barco, Winks)

Just saw early this morning. Kinda sad for the Arsenal fans. He's a gem but it's not working out both for him in terms of game time, and for Arsenal in terms of his attacking output and fitness. Might be best to cash on him now.

My draft is similar. I have different enablers in midfield and Virgil over TAA.

Nahh, I like Raya. Cheap way into Arsenal's defense and I don't like the 4.5m options available. I might reconsider if we get a Chelsea 4.5m keeper.

I know on paper having the arsenal centre forward for 8.0 makes sense but it's odd that he seems more popular now than he did when classified as a midfielder.
I had livramento in my first draft but have now switched to burn. Has there been any recent news about trippier leaving?
I'm not sure I'd want to start the season with that midfield unless the plan is to sell salah or wildcard early?

      1. TheBiffas
        • 3 Years

Livra only in there if trippier leaves. Havertz only really clicked in the system near the end of the season so he's in my team with the hope that he can pick up where he left off.

If I see that the players coming late from the Euros start playing in pre-season, I think I’ll be on this No Salah No Haaland but full off Premium Talisman Penalty Taker players draft:

    GK: Areola | Fab
DEF: Gvardiol | Mykolenko | Andersen | Konda | Bellis
    MID: Palmer | Saka | Son | Foden |
    H.Odoi
FWD: Isak | Liverpool striker (Darwin/Gakpo) | Muniz

The 4.5 defenders and Odoi/Muniz rotate quite well.
    Any downsides?

Arsenal are getting £35m for him when he's hardly kicked a ball in 2 years. Could he get injured again and be a flop? Yes. But could he become a talisman in an attacking team and recreate some of the form that earned him the no.10 shirt at Arsenal? Also yes.

Price doesn't really mean anything when you've got likes of West Ham chucking £40m at players like Kilman and Duran. Mad money for a player who's only had a short purple patch in like 4 years, and not even that young. He might prove me wrong, of course, but it'll massively depend on him staying fit.

    Raya/4.0

    Walker, Konate, Aina, Mykolenko, Barco
    Salah, Bruno, Nkunku, CHO, Winks
    Haaland, Isak, Muniz..

DEF rotates great till GW4, meaning no transfers till GW4 and then do the mini WC to bring Villa assets
Just an initial draft and will probably change a lot, but like it at first (most likely change Bruno to Rashford/Garnacho/Bailey and Nkunku to Eze, after getting more info from preseason games)

Important tip I've discovered over the years if youre a good manager... If you are 50/50 on a decision and don't know if to trust yourself or go with someone else's advice, go for yours because you will be more upset if you trusted someone else and got the wrong outcome. Whereas the other way round you'll find it easier to accept

    1. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

So basically don't ask for advice on 50/50s? Would make these boards less cluttered with crud questions so I wholeheartedly agree with this.

      1. Saka White Rice
        • 10 Years
        3 months, 5 days ago

Yeah I'd say ask but then if you're still 50/50, right before the deadline, and you trust you're a good manager because you've consistently been in the top 50k let's say (this is subjective), go for your opinion

        1. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo

No overlap between the circles on a Venn diagram showing managers who take a single stranger's advice to make a decision and consistently good managers, is there though.

    2. ᶠᶦˡᵗʰʸLucre $$$

So basically if you're a good manager you don't need advice. Can't argue with that.

    3. Eh, just one more thing ...
      • 12 Years

It’s the most common regret I think with many managers. We all kick ourselves when we go against our gut … what I can’t stand is the moaning afterwards … could have should have but didn’t. I’m making a real conscious effort this season to go with my gut every time but it doesn’t mean I would be listening to other opinions … but when it comes to 5 minutes before the deadline I am determined to go my own way …. Famous last words of course.

And yet people on here are on their 50th draft, when we're still 3 weeks away from the time to make a draft. Mainly so they can say oh I nearly had so and so. Oh I nearly had Havertz and I can't believe Minteh got an assist when I had him in draft no. 41.

These people are just stocking up on copium to use next month.

Salah, Foden and Havertz for Haaland, Saka & Rogers.

Instead of Hudson Odoi on bench he rotates with Rogers & Andersen depending on fixtures.

Given the lack of clean sheets and plethora of solid 4.5 def options, I think I'm really gonna go with 5x 4.5 defenders rotation this year and play the fixtures game with them. What do you say on this team?

    Pickford
    Mykolenko, Van de Ven, Pau
    Palmer, Bruno, Eze, CHO
    Watkins, Haaland, Isak

    Fabianski, Andersen, Robinson, Winks

that's actually an interesting take, though in that case I would maybe include one of nailed 4.0 defenders that rotates well with your other options (Faes, Harwood...) and go for Raya set and forgot to cover for Arsenal defense

Nailing this will be the game within the game.
Every second post should be covering this imo, rather than the neverending "I don't have Haaland/Salah ooh I'm scared though, hold me" comments.

Was thinking about 1 premium defender to hold it all together but that would be Gvardiol and Pep will probably rotate him at 3000 rpm anyway so might as well consider Primark defence.

Very similar to my initial draft but Allison in goal and couple of 6.5 mids again great selection to choose from

Forward line picks itself this year imo

Hello everyone. It’s great to see so many regulars sitting on the same bar stools. I’d like to wish you all a great season and look forward to some interesting debates in amongst the school boy (and girl) tomfoolery.

Is Harvey Barnes a viable "punt"? I mean, he's proven he's capable of doing things off the bench in the event of being subbed on v tiring defences...

A Harvey’s Bitter is a viable punt … but I feel Barnes isn’t with so many alternatives in midfield to pick from. One to watch perhaps.

Good point regarding the other options. That said, I don't quite fancy the likes of MGW and CHO as Forest aren't exactly notorious goalscorers.

Agree on the Forest boys … I think Minteh could be interesting. Kamada too … and Smith-Rowe if he gets a move.

Stepping up: Eze (if he stays), Nkunku (if he stays fit), Duran, Bailey, Amad, Gordon, Johnson
Dropping off: Foden, Palmer, Watkins, Solanke, Salah

Not really based off anything but gut feeling

Szoboszlai to step up in an advanced creative role.
White and Watkins to drop off (for different reasons).

Anyone tempted to use the BB chip in GW1 this year? I have always found it more of a nuisance that help, and with fewer and smaller DGWs this year, options to use it seem to be fewer...

        1. luk46

thought about it, but don’t think I go there, just some uncertainty over all 15 starting and potential benching issues following weeks that early

        2. Eh, just one more thing ...
          • 12 Years
          3 months, 5 days ago

I’d rather wait and get an idea of regular starters etc … but I always like to ditch it earlier … the reduction in DGWs I think will see its usage spread across more game weeks this year which I think is a plus.

maybe, the team i have right now then there is no chance of me using it, but i have other teams i'm contemplating with a better bench, if i go that route then why not

I've found it a nuisance too but I think the new rule to allow rolling upto 5ft makes a big difference. I expect I'll WC to set up for a BB in a DGW and then use rolled transfers to get the money back out of my bench the following week.

Got to say, I'm fairly happy with this

        Flekken Valdimarsson
        Gvardiol Gabriel Myolenko Andersen 4.0
        Salah Saka Foden Nkunku 4.5
        Isak Watkins Muniz

I guess the one downside is it's relying on Nkunku to fire as it doesn't have a strong first sub

If he does stay fit & fire it could be a formidable double up not wanting their defence.

Haaland underperformed xg last year, outperformed first year, same xg..217 points vs 272 points..

Hypothesis: the natural weight gain with age in such a big frame is affecting performance/sharpness etc.

He looked beastly in the recent friendly against Celtic. Only Kasper's heroic saves denied him a hattrick. Monstrous in the the way he scored the header.
