Rashford feels bourne a bit more out of hope that expectation

      Martinez > Mykolenko or Robinson.
      Mbeumo > Eze

Play Munoz. Plus if you have the funds I'd upgrade your keeper to either Onana or Pickford

Rashford a big gamble over Eze and better picks than Mbeumo with those fixtures. I’d be starting Munoz if I had him too.

It’s different which is good to see but you have some tough fixtures there. Gwk1 is essentially a wildcard that gives you the ability to choose a squad based on the first 4-6 weeks around your longer term assets .

do we like this template-ish team?

    Sanchez
    TAA Gvardiol Mykolenko
    Salah Odegaard Nkunku Foden
    Watkins Wood Isak

    4.0 GK Rogers Anderson Faes

Similar to my current draft, but I like the tweaks from shifting Odegaard down to Gordon/Eze:

      Pickford
      Trent Munoz Gvardiol
      (C)Salah Gordon Eze Nkunku
      Wood (V)Isak Watkins
      .
      Virginia Burn Barco Winks

Someone's leaving for Foden at some point, so imagine he's there instead of one of the three non-premium mids

Arsenal's coming in GW6, via saved FTs or a WC

Solid imo. Mine has palmer over foden and Gordon over odegaard.

Logic has completely ruled out Saka until GW6.
Arsenal have the second WORST opening 5 fixtures according to the difficulty ranking. The only reason they aren't the worst is the opening home game against Wolves... Saka played a whopping 636 mins at the Euros and is going to be late back to the Arsenal preseason camp. He might not start (or preform well) in Arsenal's one good opening fixture. SAKA = NO GO.

I agree Saka’s not an option for me. I still would have an Arsenal player though as I’m only really looking at GW1-3 and they have two at home.

Broadly agree since seeing Saka jaded & underperforming has become a familiar sight at times over the last couple seasons. But I don’t especially want to go so far as to avoid Arsenal entirely & will probably still get Havertz, then maybe double up on attack (possibly with Saka) from GW6

Agreed in my early drafts I was looking at rotation system of Keepers for Raya as their fixtures were so mixed. Concluded it was a waste of money.

What Arsenal need is squad depth, they are very dependant on the same core of players. They have been very lucky with injuries in recent seasons either that or their S&C is superb,

    4. Whiskerz

Arsenal = no go for me. Until wc, or gw6 when I'll probably triple, or at least double

I am hot on Arsenal but not Saka

I think we fixate too much on fixtures at certain points

filling our teams with the likes of Forest (yes, appreciate they're significantly cheaper), but not Arsenal etc. is overthinking that I've been guilty of in past pre-seasons

    6. Big Mike

I agree totally LNM. I'm currently on Son for game week 1 as he's got better fixtures and is more likely to start. Then it's a simple sideways move to Saka when Arsenal's fixtures improve.

Did just that now, looking for a different 6.5.

Downgraded Havertz to Wood, upgraded Rashford to Bruno and Bailey to Johnson.

Bailey being any 6.5 is the right decision. Having that price point just makes sense. Him or nkunku is the choice, just gotta hope you get it right.

I went Johnson for now, instead. Could also be Nkunku, with the fixtures Chelsea have, wouldn't mind a double up (who knows, maybe Nkunku will get more of the ball if he plays in his preferred position and role and Palmer is pushed out the right wing).

Got a feeling the Chelsea 6.5m midfielders will be the ones to own. Maresca relies heavily on wing play and Nkunku and Palmer will be central.

    Haaland Isak(C) Muniz

Do you think having Nkunku & Palmer as his 8s works though, especially from a defensive POV? I guess that would be fun to watch & good for FPL but I have a feeling either Palmer will play RW or Nkunku up front (or both even)

      1. Athletic Nasherbo
        • 7 Years

Both might not play in the 8, yes. Nkunku off the left, can’t see Jackson not playing. Maresca has said Palmer will play central more often than not this season. I think Madueke will definitely play as he can keep width which Maresca demands.

Defensively, inverting James makes us solid centrally but we will be prone to space out wide for sure.

Like last season, I see goals in these games.

"Having both Haaland and Salah still doesn’t require a lot of sacrifices, in my opinion. Ok, I am missing out on all £9.5m to £10.5m midfielders but I’m hoping they have a slow start after a tiring Euros."

This is the key dilemma. And I don't agree with Lateriser. The sacrifice of that tier of (mostly English mids) is not worth it for me. Especially if it's to get a 32 y/o Salah in a new Liverpool setup.

Foden would have benefited the most from the BPS changes last season, and Palmer is just a goal involvement/penalty machine. I don't think I want to sacrifice this tier and I would rather build in 2 of them instead. This is typically the MOST explosive position in the game. Maybe even more than Haaland when the player is in form so having 2 shots to try and hit that streak matters a lot to me.

that bracket looks potentially class when the dust is settled

current strategy is starting with Son/Odegaard to help access Saka/Foden/Palmer

set a solid defence and frontline and then concentrate all early transfers on the midfield.

My midfield is constantly changing. The rest isn't

If you really think Foden/Palmer/Saka have slow starts then I like this team. For the FPL veterans, it's all about the assessments of strength from GW1 - fixtures, potential etc.You back the players from the teams you think will start well. Liverpool could absolutely do great from the start and the fixtures are there. But most Liverpool fans are cautiously optimistic at best so I'd rather wait and see.

Set and forget team for season. No transfers allowed, but can play chips.

Did this last year, no transfers and ended up about 3m. Playing the WC gameweek 2 was my main mistake as didn't have all the info (e.g. Cole Palmer) so I'll be looking to hold on as long as possible.

4.5, 4.0 from same team pairing
    Saliba, Andersen, Konsa
Palmer (c), Saka, Foden, Bowen, Gordon
    Isak, Watkins

    J.Pedro, Robinson, Faes

I definitely think I need to beef up the defence, but until that bargain midfielder reveals themselves, I'm struggling.

Alternatively, attack the first 4 weeks w/o the Euros players (Saka, Foden being the main 2), then wildcard around GW4 and hope we've got enough info by then. Decisions.

What are you current best 3 or 4 rotating cheap defender team options for de 2nd and 3rd defender?

Currently I’m on 6, 3x4.5 and 4.0 with the cheap ones being:

    4.5 Palace
    4.5 Everton
    4.5 Aston Villa
    4.0 (Southampton or Brighton)

Difficult to know which Newcastle defender as the only one nailed is Pope at the goal. Which one do you have?

Hopefully it'll become clearer in a couple of weeks. Trippier flew to Dubai yesterday (for "holiday" 😉 ) Livramento might soon be the one

Lots of ongoing rumours about Trippier's marriage, which may be playing a part in him not joining up with the rest of the squad for the Japan trip. Hopefully Livra plays in the preseason friendly against Hull today as he hasn't played since his injury at the back end of last season.

Livramento if Trippier goes. Hall if not

There are loads of decent variations that can become overpowered if you throw in the odd transfer (start with Van de Ven then transfer to Konsa for GW3).

Not seen many draft's with Gabriel in them, but loads with Saliba.

Is Gabriel now seen as a rotation risk?

I think Califiori plays LCB(or LB?) as does Gabriel.
      Saliba plays RCB

Calafiori will play LB IMO, it was a problem area last season with no real settled pick there & he was a LB who moved centrally in his career.

          Is Timber not a LB?

Timber signed as a RB/RCB but filled in at LB when there wasn’t a fit one.

When he came on in the last game of the season he replaced White at RB, in both pre season games so far he’s played RCB.

In the spirit of "lessons learnt", has anyone here ever started the season before with their whole defense consisting of 4.5's and 4's?

Was it sustainable for several weeks, or was one or more upgraded quickly to a more expensive one?

I started last season with a premium defence and not a single one of them kept a clean-sheet GW1!

713 Hall of Shamers have signed up for the coming season. Aiming for 500,000, pretty sure we can do it if we start press ganging friends, neighbours (everybody needs good neeeiiiggghhbours), random strangers etc.

Today’s secret prize reveal is a beauty. The overall winner of the Hall of Shame shall win for themselves the Duchy of Dubbo! Finest counter lunches in the land are to be found in Dubbo, and the Duke de Dubbo shall have their feed full of them!

    All are welcome, league code:

Down to these 3 trios for my main structure, which would you choose?

    A) Porro | Nkunku | Isak
    B) Porro | Gordon | Solanke
    C) Trent | Gordon | Muniz

A few unanswered questions but this is how I'm shaping up so far...

    £4.5m Palace GK (£4.0m)
3 x £4.5 defenders from Newcastle, Brighton, NFO, Palace and Fulham
    Son(c), KdB, Szboszlai, Gordon (£4.5)
Haaland, Isak, Darwin (if Slot's #9)

Defence rotation gives decent opening fixtures for potential clean-sheets and will chose players who score the odd goal.
    GW1: vs SOU, eve, BOU/bre
GW2: vs WHU, LEI, sou (captain Haaland)

Probably make a couple of transfers for GW3.
