Gordon is currently unsettled due to Newcastle openly discussing potentially selling him to Liverpool, his boyhood club. I won't be getting Gordon initially, absolutely no chance. Even Barnes is a bit of,a risk with Murphy doing well in pre season.

I'm eyeing up Jota for that spot

I'd love Jota so much. I can't see any world where his minutes are guaranteed though. perhaps injures to Darwin, Gakpo & Diaz and then I'd be confident.

Certainly getting the mins in preseason and working early with Slot. Need to wait and see when Darwin and Gakpo are back.

Barnes has been poor by most accounts - I think Murphy is a legit option to start; Barnes more inevitable cameo than "bit of a risk".

Barnes has fluffed his chances in the two friendlies I've seen. I think Murphy should start as he's had a good preseason and Miggy has had limited minutes. I'm actually tempted by Willock, if he can prove he has 90 minutes in him before GW1.

Who says Gordon is actually unsettled? It all comes from an article weeks ago by Luke Edwards, who often is wrong about what is going on at Newcastle. Even he has questioned recently why there is noise about Gordon. It seems to have lingered because there are no transfer stories to write about Liverpool or Newcastle at the minute.

Contemplating GW1 BB, while not having to use your WC in GW2 or sooner.

Most teams have a bench that looks like this

    4.0(gk) Harwood Barco 4.5(mid/FWD)

Thinking of just spending a million more to get the following bench and BBing

    Flekken. Harwood Barco Amad

    Could upgrade Harwood as well.

Feel like the headache of Bench boost is just too much. In the process we limit ourselves around the DGW's just to have a bench of dgwers and perhaps it's better to get it out of the way.

Was no flag on Pedro's rib injury either tho he's now back in training. No flags on the Utd injuries either so I wouldn't go by or trust FPL's injury status, they've opened the game & left it at that while they have pre-season hols.

So I went without Haaland all of last season. I enjoyed playing the game and always had a strong 15 to choose from each week. Going without definitely backfired in terms of overall rank but my engagement in the game remained throughout the season.

Should I aim for Haaland + 14 this time or take the same approach and go for an overall better squad?

Quite surprised at how few drafts I’ve seen Solanke in here (although looks to be on 10% ownership overall)

Nailed, ‘talisman’, good form last year and didn’t play in the euros - think I’m sticking with him (plus Watkins, Isak) over the more expensive Havertz in my Salah, no Haaland 3-4-3

Yeah decent option, bit overlooked. 5 goals in the corresponding fixtures for GW 1 & 2 last season. Just a case of coming in 4th / 5th priority behind some others for me

Yes but NFO have made significant improvements to GK + CB so that opening away fixture will be difficult.

    1. Tonyawesome69

We don't have the info to state that. TAA still on holiday and Liverpool have a new manager so still a bit of an unknown there.

      1. Count of Monte Hristo
        • 11 Years
        2 months, 28 days ago

Not so much who is ready for GW1, I am thinking is Trent’s set piece taking and ability on the ball in advanced areas minus Liverpool’s weaker defence worth more than Arsenal’s solidity or City’s dominance.

        1. Tonyawesome69
          • 5 Years

Assuming Gvardiol plays the same role as last season then I would rate him higher than TAA as a pick.

Assuming Arteta has a set back 4 then I prefer Arsenal CS prospects and scoring ability at set pieces.

    Back to a Haaland draft.

    Sanchez 4.0
    Gvardiol Munoz Burn Barco Johnson
    Salah Son Nkunku Amad Winks
    Haaland Isak Wood

I haven't seen a Haaland, Salah, Son draft yet so wanted to try my hand and I quite like this. Will depend quite a bit on Amad/Rogers looking reliable.

    1. LangerznMash
      • 8 Years

It's risky but could work well.
Don't like Nkunku for GW1 though especially when he is playing against Gvardiol. Would probably consider Szoboszlai or Kulu/Johnson instead.

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 5 Years

Nkunku might be against Gvardiol. We don't know Nkunku's role when Palmer is back.

For some reason I hadn't even considered this as didn't think it was do-able but that draft confirms that it is. Still with Isak and a premium defender too.

It's making me think again about my current team.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah will need pre-season to confirm on Nkunku and Amad.

But I think it's fine to start with Nkunku if he's going to be a key player in that Chelsea team. A bad GW1 should not put you off buying a player. It's better to just start with Nkunku if you want him for the first 6 GWs than to start with a Szoboszlai or Johnson if you intend to dump them after just 1 or 2 weeks and think they're worse picks.

      4. Whiskerz
        • 11 Years

Booking a transfer that way though. You'll/we'll want chelsea for their run from gw2.

Imo the better option is to write off those 6.5m points for gw1/hope he does something against a possibly weakened city, or use a sub. Then be ahead of the game and 1 transfer up for gw2

He's looking nailed because of injuries. If Antony and Rashford are out and Garnacho still isn't back in training, very good chance he starts the first couple games.

One of the 2 final drafts I’m trying to choose between is Haaland, Salah and Son:

      Areola
      Gvardiol | Porro | Mykolenko

      Haaland | Isak

      Looks decent I think!

Was gonna say... That team looks incredible if it was Isak.

Yeah it’s basically no Isak or no Haaland.

I think my best option is to go with the No Isak one (this one) but have Isak in for Haaland for the start with 6.5m itb for GW2.

+ haaland has to take a hit somewhere and the drafts I tend to prefer take that hit at the back. Might consider gvardiol to a 4.5 for 1.5 to spend in mid? Or even ditching wood too and going 352.

    5. Weeb Kakashi

Alternate way of doing Gvardiol, Salah, Son, Isak and Haaland...
      Miguel 4.0
      Gvardiol, Milenkovic, Burn, Barco 4.0
      Salah(c), Son, MGW, Andreas, 4.5
      Haaland, Isak, Muniz
