BRENTFORD: REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL
The ‘underlying numbers’, which the Bees put a lot of stock in, were decent last season despite the 16th-place finish.
Top half for both expected goals (xG) and expected goals conceded (xGC), their attacking stats in particular stood out:

Even if Ivan Toney (£7.5m) departs, Brentford have some promising attacking assets at their disposal. Yoane Wissa (£6.0m) hit 12 goals last season, while Bryan Mbeumo (£7.0m) delivered 16 attacking returns despite injury limiting him to 22 starts. Kevin Schade (£5.5m) will be ‘like a new signing’, as the old cliche goes, having missed the bulk of 2023/24.
They’d surely reinvest the cash if Toney is sold, too. Igor Thiago (£6.0m) has already been brought in, although a knee injury looks set to sideline him for months.
Injuries were damaging last season (only four clubs had it worse), particularly at the back. With the regulars returning to fitness, there’ll be optimism that the defence can tighten up again – a total of 65 goal concessions was 19 more than in 2022/23.

Have I got onto something here? Without Haaland I’ve fit in 6 premiums. Is the depth enough?
