How the new Bonus Points System has affected FPL scores so far

The changes to the Bonus Points System (BPS) in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) were something we previously discussed ahead of the season.

Now, with the international break upon us and three Gameweeks’ worth of data to assess, we can see who the early winners and losers are.

HOW DOES THE BONUS POINTS SYSTEM WORK?

The BPS utilises a range of statistics supplied by Opta, who capture actions on the pitch to create a performance score for every player.

These actions range from scoring a goal, assisting and keeping a clean sheet to successful dribbles, recoveries and pass completion.

You can read more about these actions here.

The players with the top three BPS scores in a given match receive FPL bonus points – three points to the highest-scoring player, two to the second and one to the third.

WHAT ARE THE BONUS POINTS SYSTEM CHANGES IN 2024/25?

The adjustments to the BPS for 2024/25 are as follows:

one strategy I'm considering, mainly for simplicity atm is to stick with

Haaland - Pedro/Wissa - Jebbison

I know Jebbison is blasphemous and there's the likes of Havertz I'm tempted by, but I think this week has shown with Eze/Mbuemo/Diaz etc. getting on as many mids across the 5 in a Christmas Tree formation really appeals

3 atb trying to get something from Arsenal/Pool CS wise otherwise its just 4.5s all the way (maybe Porro, but again I think he's superseded by ARS/LIV)

so an emphasis on cash and transfers in that midfield area and getting beyond Rogers/ESR etc.

  My doubts in not going for him were 2:
  
  - never reached more than 17 games a season
  - Romero/Spurs defence, whilst hopeless for CSs, have tons of attacking potential
  
  I'd argue, even if he's rotated and the other defenders occasionally hit attacking returns that 5m price tag to get an ESR/Rogers to an Eze/Mbuemo means Konate all the way atm

  I think Saka to Salah is sensible for the next 2 weeks if Salah is not injured while on international duty. I think with premium assets we'll need to rotate quite a bit throughout the season.

    Thanks. I agree with that. Tried a WC draft but wasn’t to sure as there were so many players I wanted like Palmer, Saka even Watkins that I couldn’t fit in and team and fixtures look decent next GW.
