Interesting having a look at most fpl managers reaction to the gw, they assume that if you had Palmer then you got a massive score and big green arrow.
However with 57 points Im 1 point off having a red arrow.
Villa players actually had a big impact on rank

    WHAT to do here

    Pope VerBruggen
    Digne VVD Mazraoui 4.0 4.0
    Salah Semenyo Kudus Madueke Rashford
    Havertz Welbeck Haaland

    4.0 , Madueke to Timber , Rogers ?

    Or what to do here

I would suggest the following moves with your 2 FTs for GW7:
      Kudus to Rogers
      Digne to Konate
Then for GW8 ditch Rashford for Mbeumo.

Forwards look solid, along with Salah, VVD and Maz. Semenyo fine for next week but then his fixtures start to become tougher.

Non-Haaland team from the beginning, went from 400k to 21k in this gameweek, really shows how much impact Haaland has on your overall team, every time he blanks you're probably having a terrible gameweek

Maybe you went form 400k to 21k because of Palmer?

And what's the reason for so many managers not owning Palmer? mostly because you have Haaland and have to spread the funds.

          • 11 Years

Wrong! I have Trent, Palmer, Saka and Haaland so you can comfortably fit in lots of premiums even with him you just can’t have them all.

            2 months, 22 days ago

No but it certainly makes you have to decide between him and Salah or him and Saka for example, or an expensive back three, without haaland you can have them all.

    2. DARK SIDE OF THE LOON
      • 8 Years

Not necessarily. Have him and capped him this week. Rank improvement of 57% with Semenyo still to play. It's about what you have around him in your team. And I don't have any Pool attackers.

I had a no Haaland team until last GW when I hit the WC. I was on 260k. From GW3 to GW5 when Salah(C) only got 1 assist while Haaland had 3 goals + 6 bonus points I droped from 150k to 260k.

I had a great team with Salah, Watkins, Diaz, Trent, Mbeumo and so on. But I got stressed since many people WCed and I did to. Now Im around 750k with Semenyo to play.

I got around 30p less on my WC.

I belive I would have now been within top 10k with my old team. Its tough and its ruined my weekend. Have to take a small break form FPL a few days and come back at the weekend.

I dont have Haaland but not having him through the upcoming run might be madness. Sure, you can do really well, in general, by having more cash for better options across your squad but captaincy is a real issue. Haaland now becomes perma-captain, whereas we'll have to nail our captain pick week in week out.
How many braces and hattricks will Haaland owners captain in the next 6 vs us?
FUL, wol, SOU, bou, bha, TOT

Thats the reason I used my WC. I went 1 week to early in hope that he could score against New too. It backfired big time for my team, but Im trying to be positive with the upcoming fixtures.

What I dont like about Halland team is the structure. You are heavily relying on Haaland and that the cheap players deliver too. If the cheap players dont do well you can only change them for other cheap players.

I dont think Halland is worth 15.3 mil when you compare it 11 vs 11 with a no Haaland team.

I'm actually selling both Palmer and Watkins on WC this week and buying Saka - as crazy as it sounds.

Bought both in GW3 by selling Haaland post-Ipswich. Looked like it was backfiring massively until this last week.

Targetting the fixtures it's now time for me to move on and get Haaland back.

There are simply so many ways to play the game that I find it difficult to dismiss a way of playing based on picking a player ranked 9th overall for points currently. I have all three players mentioned, plus Haaland. Currently the only big issue in my team is still having Eze. My overall rank puts me in a decent position at this stage of the season. I'm just playing my own game and enjoying a green arrow most weeks.

from someone who didn't wildcard in 6 I can say hand on heart most of those picks I'd have had too because they are common sense good picks with the fixtures and/or form. One week does not determine a WC. Those going non-Haaland are behind the sofa until the Christmas tree goes up.

Cmon so many players to pick from so many different alleys to points and yet everybody went TAA, Lewis, Gbriel, Diaz, semenyo, mbuemo, saka etc. They all picked up salah in gw 4 and now got rid ahead of wolves and palace (2 of worst teams in the league). You dont find this funny

      2. Haa-lala-land

This is the justification they tell us, that they're logical picks. I don't think that's correct. I can't see how they all decide, for example, that Mykolenko is the best cheapie.
Mykolenko is a fine cheapie for one of the managers, say, but for all of them? No.
One of them initially chose Myko, the rest went along, without thinking. That's just one example.
There's a word or phrase for this, I don't know what it is!
It's a big problem in the FPL content world.

On the Wire, Zoph and LR had identical teams, minus one player I think like the reserve keeper, between week 1 and 6.
That they didn't mention, or acknowledge, their teams being identical during any point of their shows, speaks volumes to me

"They all chose to copy each other" - is that really likely? You're suggesting that there was a conscious collective agreement to all pick the same 15 players? Like, they were all in a Whatsapp call together to agree the picks or something?

What do you think of my wildcard draft?

    Raya Fabianski
    Gabriel TAA Lewis Robinson 4.0
    Saka Palmer Rogers Mbeumo Winks
    Haaland Jimenez Delap

I don’t like the idea of playing Rogers every week. His underlying stats are poor. The 2 strikers are poor options. I’d lose Trent and upgrade

Its good, but getting Solanke in instead of one of your cheap strikers it would be better, Ipswich only good at home

I like it. Jimenez is a great pick, has a difficult fixture this week but then good for the next 6 or 7 weeks. I put him in my team 2 weeks ago. he's very much coming into form with returns the past 3 weeks.
Delap is an interesting one, he might be a decent differential if he can hold the form he showed yesterday.
Rogers seems to be turning the potential into points. Decent pick IMO.

How has the game moved to such a boring template when there was so much variety at the start?

Are we taking in too much content & without realising it, connecting our brains together?

Made a big effort not to listen to any content to build my GW1 team, gradually pods have crept back in & now I’m horrified to see my team almost identical to most wildcards give or take 1/2 players.

Started with Raya & Gabriel (who weren’t that popular) took Gabriel out but brought him back in, now almost every team has it along with Trent, Rico, Saka, Semenyo, Diaz, Mbuemo, Haaland with a combo of DCL, Wood, Rogers then it’s Watkins v Solanke.

    How has this happened?

Yeah sure but we are all making the same transfers, I didn’t WC this week, used 4FTs and they are just the same players that are in wildcards. I’m actually fuming with myself as to why this has happened.

The pool available of good assets hasn’t shrunk this much surely

I think with Haaland and TAA the rest of the picks almost pick themselves, I've gone without TAA and all my defenders except Raya are under 5m which affords me more options in attack, I still had a 74% template rating this week though, but I'm happy to report zero clones

I think this is basically it. When you spend a lot of your resources on a couple of players, it significantly narrows down your other options, so teams end up being more same-y.

I don't listen to pods or watch youtube "experts" just play my own game. My team has a 27% template rating, with midfield graded very heavy (Saka, Salah, Mbeumo, Semenyo, Johnson) defence graded average, even though it has TAA and Gabriel, and forwards graded light (Havertz, Jimenez, N.Jackson)
It's my team and I'm doing pretty well, so what others think doesn't faze me.

Sitting at about 150K with my Haaland-less team and got 3 FT's after this GW. My original plan was to sacrifice Watkins for Haaland and downgrade Salah to L. Diaz, but I'm having second thoughts about getting Haaland and disrupting my team. Now my big worry is City's homegame against that dire SOT def. Any other Haaland-less teams around considering Freehitting wit (c)Haaland in GW9? It's the same week that ARS plays LIV, so a FH could also avoid this.

I’m in the same boat. I was going to bring in Haaland this week. Salah would have to go which I’m fine with but one of Watkins, TAA or Saka would have to be sacrificed.
I am tempted to hold off getting Haaland a bit longer.
I’ve not considered FH in gw 9. I think I’d rather accumulate FT’s and do a Hokey Cokey for Haaland.

Haaland's goalscoring was always gonna slow down a bit, he won't produce hattricks every GW so I'm thinking to completely avoid him and keep my team & structure intact. Getting solid returns from my attackers, but captaincy is a much bigger risk without Haaland. Going Havertz against SOT doesn't bring much confidence.

I think us non Haaland owners will just have to take it on the chin, brace ourselves Jaws.
Try and get another one player who they won't have who could do well. Foden by then? I doubt Haaland teams could fit him in.

Foden's situation is a bit tricky. Considering Bowen. WHM have great upcoming fixtures and they can only improve imo.

Also, we've already survived Haaland's hattie's in GW 2 and 3, we can survive Southampton!

I've gone without Haaland the first 6 weeks and don't see any reason to bring him in now. With Champions league having started, EFL cup and International duties, Pep Roulette is in full swing. Playing FH just to have Haaland for one GW has impending spectacular failure written all over it.
