UCL Fantasy: Which players had the most shots and key passes in Matchday 1?

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League (UCL) campaign returns today – and so does the competition’s official Fantasy game.

As part of our partnership with StatsBomb, we take a look at which players were racking up the most shots, key passes and expected goals (xG) in Matchday 1.

We also review the attacking and defensive numbers at team level.

PLAYERS: SHOTS

Ousmane Dembele (€8.5m) racked up eight shots in Paris Saint-Germain’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Girona but was often erratic and wasteful in front of goal.

He’s been left out of Luis Enrique’s squad to face Arsenal on Tuesday.

PSG team-mates Achraf Hakimi (€5.5m) and Randal Kolo Muani (€7.5m) also feature, with six and five shots respectively.

Hakimi took on a particularly advanced role in Matchday 1:

I did a rookie mistake in ucl fantasy. Sold barcola for raphinha which was fine. To fund it i sold Guerrero to rico lewis. Problem is now i have excl. Gk only 2 playing tmrw!
Dont know who to bench. Reluctantly benching hakimi but will be stupid if rico doesn't start

What to do here? 1ft 0.3itb

    Henderson
    TAA Gabriel Gvardiol
    Salah Palmer Saka(C) Semenyo Rogers
    Havertz Evanilson

    Matthews JPedro Harwood-B Quansah

    A) Save and WC next week
    B) Salah+Havertz>Haaland+McNeil -4 possible WC next week
    C) WC now

    Thanks!

That team looks really good but just doesn't have Haaland.

I'd maybe do Henderson > Flekken and then WC next week?

Rather have 2ft after WC than switch gk for one week. Thanks!

I'm considering that Henderson move but he still doesn't have a clean sheet. You think it's going to get any better?

    Love the new UCL format

Banger fixtures every matchday instead of having to wait for quarters

The reason why no Haaland looks more viable in gw 12 is because if Palmer really is good as we think he is he should be a 13M 14M priced player, therefore he would be a much stronger captain they we thought before.

For over the Intl break- which looks best:

    A) Saka, de Ligt > Palmer, Van de Ven
    B) Diaz, TAA > Palmer , Van de Ven

Hi gents, just pondering a further move here.

    Raya
    TAA - Lewis - Gabriel
    Rogers - Mbeumo - Diaz - Palmer - ESR
    DCL - Halland

For a hit, are any of these worth it?

    A) DCL > Watkins
    B) DCL > Solanke
    C) Cannon > Solanke (Switch to 343 and bench ESR)
    D) DCL/Cannon > Havertz
    E) Do nothing

Thanks for any input chaps! 🙂

This is essentially my squad, particularly if you do C (which is what I'd recommend). Definitely don't transfer out DCL with his fixtures...

Cheers MF, yeah the cannon > Solanke move does sound appealing and most “hit worthy” doesn’t it. It’s somewhat hard to keep faith in DCL but surely he has to come up with something across these fixtures.

If I transfer him out he starts and scores.

If I keep him he gets benched.

        That's my prediction

        I had read he trained.

      A) J.P out for Vardy
      B) Robinson out for Lewis

      Thanks

I did JP for Vardy myself. Lewis not guaranteed minutes and Leicesters next three fixtures look nice.

Fulham's fixtures are decent from 8 onwards. You would need to have a nailed 4th def if going with Lewis.

Also consider Delap and Larsen in that 5.5m price bracket

      Bench one:

      A) Faes (BOU)
      B) Greaves (whu)

Hmmm Greaves more chance of a cs. Faes more attacking...both probably concede...go with home player with attacking threat

Not great having to start one of 4.0m defs, I guess whichever one edges it with higher CS odds.

Saka is not worth 10.1m with his current Xg.

Maddison putting up similar numbers with better fixtures.

Easy sell to Palmer/Maddison in GW8.

Had the privilege of visiting the grave of the great Duncan Edwards again today on what would have been his 88th birthday, if he knew the state of football today and its pathetic sanitised crap......same goes for 'society'......just as well he doesn't.
The world was a far better place back then.

        The greatest British player EVER.
