The FFS Paddy Power Cup – Wild Rover Claims Glory

Our congratulations go to Wild Rover after he clinched victory in the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup Final last night, following an 87-75 win over Mile High. The double Gameweek 23 proved a fitting backdrop to their head-to-head, with that winning margin ultimately coming down to each player’s choice of Arsenal and West Ham coverage in the final match of the Gameweek at the Emirates on Wednesday evening:

While both finalists handed Theo Walcott the armband and also had Kieran Gibbs and Guy Demel in their ranks, Wild Rover’s midfield proved decisive. Joe Cole and Santi Cazorla both returned double figure hauls, while Mile High received just four points from the Hammers’ Mark Noble, with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Bacary Sagna chipping in with three points apiece at the back. Wild Rover’s five double Gameweek players produced 63 points, then, compared to Mile High’s 51 from six – a 12 point gap which proved the difference between their Gameweek scores, despite our new champion taking a four point hit for the occasion.

The Final

1Wild rover87 – 75MileHigh

Third Place Play-off

2ange1range175 – 94Mr.KK

Wild Rover now joins donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and previous champion Mch in our hall of fame and will now gain automatic qualification to the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup from this point on.

Along with the virtual silverware, Wild Rover also receives £100 worth of free bets with Paddy Power and £100 in Amazon vouchers, while Mile High gets his hands on £50 worth of free bets and £50 in Amazon vouchers. Mr KK receives £50 worth of free bets and £25 Amazon vouchers – he saw off ange1range1 94-75 to take third spot.

All our Quarter-Finalists from this year’s Fantasy Football Scout Cup also go into the first FFS Shield tournament, running over the final four Gameweeks of the season where they will face off against the eight Quarter-Finalists from the Members Cup, due to start very soon.

Done it before with Sterling + Puncheon

Didnt really work out, not going for it this time.

But if I did would allow [Rvp Aguero Suarez] up top!

I tried it for a while with G.Ramirez and Taarabt rotating H/A. Unfortunately, Ramirez was dropped or injured too often for me to feel it was worth it. I have thought abut trying it again with A.Johnson and C.Brunt who rotate reasonably well.

I'm considering this with Taarabt + Puncheon as it gives a much more balanced side (my TV ~ 107m). But it means sacrificing two of the "power 5". Choosing one to get rid is hard enough, never mind two.

    Gibbs (arsenal defence meh)
    Cuellar (injured)

    Pienaar (poor points potential recently)
    Hazard (nuff said lol)
    Walcott

    Sterling (rotation risk?)

West Ham's last clean sheet 8 games ago against West Brom was also the last time that the back 4 lined up like this:

    Demel - Collins - Reid - O'Brien

Is this the reason for this or is it that West Brom are the worst of the last 8 opponents?
(5 previous fixtures also produced no cleanie)

Seriously though, I've been thinking about this for a while with all the talk of the famous 5 or whatever. Chances are that some of the big scorers from the first half of the season will drop off. Fallani, Michu and Ba (again) are the prime suspects for me this time round.

Aguero is still uncertain imo. There is every chance he storms back into the team and tears it up. But at the moment all we know is that he is back from injury and might or might not start scoring. On the other hand, it will be a lot easier to switch from Kun to Suarez than the other way around, and you will know before the deadline whether Aguero is starting against QPR. So you could let Tuesday's teamsheet make up your mind, knowing you can switch to Suarez if Kun comes back flat.

Swansea should receive some criticism in this tbh. You simply can't have ballboys around a pitch who will do this sort of thing; has to be there responsibility; that said Hazard deserves everything that he will get from it.

Yes. And Hazard, on God knows how much every week, which would take a normal person years to earn, does not engage his Brain Cell in wondering how it will look when he kicks the lad, who's probably the age of half the posters here.

I'd euthanize the pair of em actually.

Fair play to Eden for me, ball boys aren't supposed to do what the boy did, and he wasn't the only one. Lampard complained 5 minutes before that incident that the ballboys were keeping the ball to waste time.

So it's ok to kick someone, just not that hard, eh?

I do appreciate that he was trying to kick the ball, but he was exteremely frustrated and (pardon the pun) stuck the boot in! Forget what age the boy/teenager/scroat was, Hazard made a wank of himself!

But does the offense severity matter? Should Cantona have been more/less charged depending on the intensity/damage of his kick?

I think not, and I love the man.

An athlete simply cannot engage with a non-athlete, even when provoked.

Well yeah, to be fair, Cantona wasn't right, nor was he wrong, same's the case with Hazard.

I understand the frustration of Eden, I do, the ballboy's a tw@t ... but can Rio then grab and gently choke a man who throws a coin at him in the stands?

Cantona was wrong: he was banned for nearly a year, United lost their possible title, and he never played for France again (surely not the only reason ... but still).

I'm not saying Hazard should be banned for months, but athletes engaging physically with non-athletes is a Pandora's Box of badness to open up.

Interesting though that Cantona went off the playing surface and Hazard assaulted someone involved with the match so they are hard to compare. But I get the point...can't allow it at all. Even if the kid is loathsome. Plus, F Chelsea.

      Euthanized haha.

He is a spoiled little twat, those pictures are outrageous. No wonder he thinks he can act without reprecussion and has a overblown sense of his importance. I don't even think the son of the director should be in that position...he clearly doesn't need the money and he has a conflict of interest. Every ballboy stalls, but he took it too far. That little shite needs to get a proper smack around. Lost in all this is that Hazard is by all acounts a gentle, upstanding professional...and I friggin hate Chelski and love when they suffer! Should he have done what he did? No. But the little ballgirl should have been suspended as well for her terrible behavior. What man posts pictures of a louis vitton store and drinking his "manly" cider, really how much more of a fancyboy could he be... I'm surprised he doesn't just float when he walks. The drinking, vegas trips, etc...no one at that age should have access to that much without a proper head on his shoulders. Like most wealthy, unsupervised children, my prediction is he will be a mess by the time he's 30. Either an addict, or ill-equipped to survive outside his bubble of protection. That picture of him doing the Zoolander "blue steel" face with his spray tan and spiky hair says it all...the kid is a complete jackass and I wish he would have gotten kicked harder.

Bale - Hatrick then not much to shout about
Walcott - Huge score then a few weeks of low but consistent returns
Podolski - Huge score, but Fletcher looks a better bet I think for season, but next 3 home games I tempted to stick.

Defoe is a risk. He generally under-performs in the latter half of the season. That said, I have brought him in too, as under AVB he seems to be responding well to the new meritocracy that is in place at Spurs. The coming fixtures are kind to Tottenham, despite containing many away games and the NL Derby.

Is there any other reasoning to pick Defoe over the likes of Fletcher/Berbatov/Benteke/Sturridge/Lambert?

Other than that, strong defence, 4 out of the main 5 fantasy midfielders. Top two strikers included.

    Great team.

    With the front 8 of

    Mata, Bale, Santi, Michu, Puncheon
    Suarez, Ba, Fletcher

    0 FT, 2.7m in bank

Is it worth a hit to do either of these?

    A. Puncheon to Fellaini to avoid the price rise (Got Puncheon at 4.9 so it’s as tight as you’d get)
    B. get rid of Ba if he goes down twice (Bought him at 8.6 so 8.9 and 8.8 will still yield me +0.1)
