FFS Paddy Power Members Cup III – Sixth Round Results

We now have our Quarter-Finalists for this season’s Members Cup, as the weekend programme narrowed the field further. Those eight who made progress not only keep their name in the hat for this cup, they also guarantee qualification for the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will face off against the last eight from this season’s earlier Paddy Power Cup over the final four Gameweeks of the season.

Eunuch Jelly is the name that everyone will want to avoid in the last eight – he is now the highest ranked manager remaining in the tournament, having destroyed Stewport, himself ranked 771st before the weekend. Acquafresca will also fancy his chances – he’s the other manager ranked in the top 1000 to progress. Fuzzy Dunlop is perhaps the manager to look out for, as a former winner of this cup, he’s been there and done it and probably still has his cup final suit.

The draw for the Quarter-Finals, to be played out over Gameweek 32, will be published tomorrow afternoon.

Given that West Brom have been shutout a total of 8 times this season and that they have only failed to score twice this season at home, would Santon to Sagna now be a bad decision? Newcastle defense being horrible and tiredness after the Europa league makes me want to make the transfer

    Ok run this past yall...

Making to transfers for a hit next week Baines and Fellaini for Mata and either Harte/Davies.

People may say keep Mata, no he's going.

I could either get rid of the loyal servant now eyesore Harte thats fairly logical.

Or Davies had him since gw4 also a loyal servant thou does he classify as a future dgw player? Surely N Taylor will get some first team action.

Sounds good. I think Baines is a little too rich for my blood, especially when Everton's fixtures don't scream "clean sheets" to me, but he can always explode.

He could absolutely get you points, but I just prefer to go cheap in defense. I'm wildcarding 33 and there's just no way I'll be able to afford Baines with Walcott/Cazorla + Rooney/RVP.

What I presume people are talking about is linked in the scout tweets on the main page,

But I would ignore it as

      1. It doesn't actually say that implicitly.
      2. Fergie lies.
      3. RVP's only not started once since GW4, and started before the Madrid games when most reckoned he'd be rotated.

Trying to plan GW33, kind of hopeless. Targeting a -4 hit to get in Robles, Heitinga and Rooney. Don't really like that, but it would let me field

    Fabianski*
    Debuchy, Rafael*, Heitinga*, Enrique
    Silva, Walcott*, Cazorla*, Sissoko
    Berba*, Rooney*

Would it be better ditching Bale and Enrique giving me Rooney, Fellaini and Baines?

    B) Suarez, kagawa, vidic/evra

Looks like you actually offering 2 options, not 3, and I'd go with B. With Rooney you don't need RvP and Smalling and Evans are a bit dicey. If you can afford it, I might think about A.Young instead of Kagawa in B.

Neither move is worth a look. Fellaini over Baines. I like the Silva idea but maybe just for Walcott (I never believe managers who give optimistic assessments about return dates). I wouldn't drop Bale for anything. You can always sit him GW33.

Cheers - if I did drop Bale he'd definitely come back in GW35. His form is too good to drop, but 2 tough fixtures and a blank in the next 3 means its unlikely (not impossible) that he'll score massive. Silva and Maloney also gives an extra DGWer further down the line... Convinced? 🙂

I'm sure someone has done some proper research and seen where games can be fitted in...GW36 is maybe the likely rearranged date for these teams but it's pure speculation at the minute.

The reason Chelsea haven't got a rearranged date is because they have literally only just lost their extra game in GW33 so obviously they will have to work out another date soon. The same with Spurs, they were meant to play GW33 and now won't.

For City it's probably dependent on their Fa Cup progress. For Chelsea also and they and Spurs also have Europa League still so maybe that would explain the uncertainty about when it will be played. Either way, I doubt it will be long before we hear some news.

My personal opinion would be that if you still have a WC and can get a good DGW team for GW33 without spending a 12 point hit, then you should save it for another DGW/better moment.

a lot of people with WCs talking up GW33 as the big moment but I'm seeing a lot of ordinary teams without WCs quite well set up for it all...some with hits, some without. The time to maximise your WC may be the next DGW so you have players that others would have to decimate their own team to get in together.

I agree. Unfortunately, I only have 3 week 33 double gameweek players at the moment. And two of them are Tim Howard and Guy Demel. I think I gotta blow it early and hopefully be able to prepare for week 36. Although now that I'm thinking about, I'm wondering whether I should hit the button this week like Jinswick; it would give me an extra free transfer for working on getting gameweek 36 double gameweekers....

well yeah, like I said, if you can save it be without taking a 12 point hit then that's probably ok. But if you are short on GW33 players and have a WC there is good reason to use it if you are very short on DGW players. I just mean for the ones who CAN, there are probably better times to come (in terms of maximising the advantage of it)

I'd agree, I'm using mine this week but I think it was a mistake. I could have taken 8 or 12 points and put out a decent team - hopefully the end result will be better than decent but Captain Hindsight says I should have waited.

    Hey Zed Donors

I have to play one of Zabaleta, Davies and Mariappa this week. RMT tool thingy says Mariappa.

What do you reckon? Swansea's season is over but Narch are shockingly goal-shy, Saints will surely score against Reading and I can't honestly see City keeping Utd out at Old Trafford........?

Gotta be Zabaleta for the attacking threat. Marriappa would be by far my last choice as Davies could get a CS as that could easily be 0-0.

Yes, Mariappa would be my third choice as well. RMT has Mariappa 2.89, Davies 2.45, Zab 2.19.

I'll go with Zab for his attacking potential, I think. Cheers.

      Check the CS odds maybe.

I'd say Davies might surprisingly have the best odds.

Look at it this way... Zabaleta is playing the hardest opoosition AND it's away but you also bought him for that price to play him in most games for that extra attacking threat so there's a temptation to play him despite the fact he's highly likely to concede.

Davies is playing the worst attacking team in terms of form. But they are generally better at home and Swansea's form hasn't been great and there's an argument they have little to play for so won't be as keen on defending.

Mariappa, well Reading are obviously atrocious but you can't rule out the possibility of a strong home performance in what is Adkins' first home fixture AND it's against his old club. So the impetus is there for Reading to put on a better performance than usual maybe.

That said Soton are on cracking attacking form. But they may struggle to get as much joy as they have been having at home.

I love this game when you have two cheapy defenders playing against each other and it's a 0-0 draw. Managed to pull that off a couple of times this year and it's sweet. Norwich vs Swansea could easily be another one. I think I'll check the odds tomorrow and then decide - it just feels wrong having a 6m defender on the bench though.

It does and that's why there is that temptation to just put him in the first XI and use his price and superior attacking threat to outweigh any strengths the other guys have...despite him having the hardest fixture.

I'd keep giving it some thought as it's a tricky one. The thing is you don't want to completely ignore Davies/Mariappa so they must have some selling point this week. If you reckon Davies has a better chance of a CS then that is probably a decent decision.
