Sky Sports Focus

Proceedings took another dramatic twist at the top of the Sky Sports rankings, as Fantasy Football Scout’s contender took a tumble in his battle for the overall prize. We take a look at the landscape going into the final day, whilst assessing how the transfer market is shaping up before popping in to check on tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

Chris Pearce’s campaign for the overall Sky Sports prize took a huge blow in the week as a three point gap widened to a full 30 points following Tuesday’s clashes. With Santi Cazorla contributing a mammoth 19 points, we can only presume that leader Simon Ward had the Spaniard in his lineup, perhaps even as captain, for Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Wigan. That leaves Chris with the Scout League firmly in his grasp but facing a “do or die” final Gameweek in which he surely has to take a punt with his armband choice and hope for the best.

Chris leads the Scout League by 46 points ahead of Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourite” lineup, while Pascal Evans’ “Covport” remains in third spot. Those three are included in the overall top five in the game, emphasising the level of competition in the Scout League this season.

Neil Fleeson’s “Roumeli Rangers” rank fourth in our league, ninth overall, while Terry O’Callaghan has lept back into our top five with his “Cosmic Raiders” squad – Terry sits in 13th overall.

Fantasy Football Scout lead the Private League rankings by 30 points going into the final weekend – a superb showing in our first season supporting the game.

It’s not too late to join our ranks: you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Trends

With three goals in his last three matches, it’s Theo Walcott who has been the hot property this week. The Gunners’ flyer has been brought in as part of 8% of the trades made as Fantasy managers look to repair their midfields after recent injuries and suspensions. Interest in Gareth Bale also remains buoyant – like Walcott, he still has everything to play for on the final day and over 6% of transfers this week have seen the Welshman’s services acquired.

Both Philippe Coutinho and Marouane Fellaini are amongst the top five players brought in over the past seven days, as squads continue to shed the injured Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool skipper has made up almost 12% of the transfers out taking place. Strangely, folk are also still shedding Swansea’s Michu, with over 11% of transfers seeing the Spaniard sold on – having scored at Old Trafford and with a strong fixture against Fulham on Sunday, Michu has suddenly become a decent differential option for the final Gameweek.

Despite his hat-trick last time out and an obliging home fixture with QPR on Sunday, Daniel Sturridge has only been brought in as part of 6% of the transfers made this week, with Sky Sports managers perhaps settled on their forward lines and pressed to make changes in other positions. Bizarrely, then, with just over 3% ownership in the game, Sturridge will face QPR as a ready-made differential captain choice for those looking to bridge a gap.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 7pm

Dwight Yorke takes his place in the Fantasy Football Club forward line in tonight’s episode, while Champions Leauge winner, Paulo Sousa, will be stiffening up the midfield. Fenners and Merse kicked-off at 7pm tonight but, if you missed out on that, you can catch the re-run on Sky Sports two from 9.30 tomorrow morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Lucky that's a brilliant selection, probably Vert Dem and Enrique, but the latter might get a cameo appearance again, so if you don't want to risk that then play Clyne.

With DDG and Bunn not playing, should I bring Reina in?

Front 7 i would play with no changes:

    Bale Fellaini Cazorla Walcott Henderson
    Sturridge Kone (Remy)

Wanted to change Fellaini > Michu, but is it better to get a starting 11 out and take no hits? 7 points ahead of my rival FYI.

    Help appreciated

Do you have any cash in the bank? I wouldn't bother bringing in a keeper. More points to be won in swapping Fellaini, Kone or Remy

Its a tough one, Thought with that forward line you would have more money to spare. If thats the case i'd nearly take a 4 point hit, downgrade DDG and if you have the case do Kone/Remy to Ade.

15 in total - so Schwarz has 20% of all penalty saves this season! Not sure how 15 compares to previous years.

It's one of those frustrating ways to score points: penalties tend to get awarded to home teams so, if you're rotating goalies, chances are you'll miss the opportunity. More likely you'll have the player missing... Nice when you get one though 🙂

Adam’s absence could see Ryan Shotton move from right-back to the right of midfield, allowing Geoff Cameron a spot in defence, though Tony Pulis could move Jon Walters back to the flank and recall Cameron Jerome up top.

Would you risk playing Cameron instead of Bassong?

Fellaini likely to play defensive? With DDG confirmed as not playing, and Bunn probably not going to either, should I bring in Reina or Michu? Would prefer not to do a hit considering my lead is only 7 points.

Can anybody suggest a transfer to me - I'm struggling to find a good one (Mata -> Michu?)

    Hart (Federici)
    Zabaleta Demel Sagna (Wilson Martin)
    Bale Mata Walcott Coutinho (Maloney)
    RVP Tevez Sturridge

    0.2. in bank, 1 free

Any good ideas spring to mind?

And you don't have the money for any of the moves I would suggest

You don't think Michu is a better option than Mata this week?

What's wrong with Mata? Unless you're worried about any of those not playing the team looks good to go.

If this were a regular week, I'd save for sure. But surely I need to use my last transfer? Even if it's something like Martin -> Clyne, and play ahead of Sagna?

That would be fair enough Jimski. I'd leave your transfer until tomorrow, just in case someone gets an injury.

Yes - thanks for the help btw. Desperate to lift myself those 16 places to finish in the top 5k.

Front 7 identical to mine and i am sticking. I am looking at swapping out Sagna for Vert, which i see you can't afford. Maybe do Sagna>Dawson, or Clyne even?

Ooh, Dawson - I'd forgotten him. There's a tempting idea.

Mind you, Granville predicted an Arsenal c/s on the scoutcast. And not a Spurs one...! 🙂

nothing wrong with the team and mata to michu would be sideways i suppose. since its free you could do it. everton has a better def than fulham and chelsea might be tired from midweek

Yes, the trouble is it is a bit sideways-feeling. Michu is a slightly better option, probably, but Mata could easily outscore him.

I was half-hoping for an injury to force my hand this week. I was cursed by them earlier in the season.

DDG, Augero, Maloney to Hart, Sturridge, Coutinho for -8.

-8 in final week sounds a bad idea. Have to make the whole hit up this week.

Definite no man. augero and maloey are potential point grabbers too. why minus points for others? Liverpool may squander at home too. dont bet too high on them. play safe.
