Sky Sports Focus

Proceedings took another dramatic twist at the top of the Sky Sports rankings, as Fantasy Football Scout’s contender took a tumble in his battle for the overall prize. We take a look at the landscape going into the final day, whilst assessing how the transfer market is shaping up before popping in to check on tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

Chris Pearce’s campaign for the overall Sky Sports prize took a huge blow in the week as a three point gap widened to a full 30 points following Tuesday’s clashes. With Santi Cazorla contributing a mammoth 19 points, we can only presume that leader Simon Ward had the Spaniard in his lineup, perhaps even as captain, for Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Wigan. That leaves Chris with the Scout League firmly in his grasp but facing a “do or die” final Gameweek in which he surely has to take a punt with his armband choice and hope for the best.

Chris leads the Scout League by 46 points ahead of Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourite” lineup, while Pascal Evans’ “Covport” remains in third spot. Those three are included in the overall top five in the game, emphasising the level of competition in the Scout League this season.

Neil Fleeson’s “Roumeli Rangers” rank fourth in our league, ninth overall, while Terry O’Callaghan has lept back into our top five with his “Cosmic Raiders” squad – Terry sits in 13th overall.

Fantasy Football Scout lead the Private League rankings by 30 points going into the final weekend – a superb showing in our first season supporting the game.

It’s not too late to join our ranks: you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Trends

With three goals in his last three matches, it’s Theo Walcott who has been the hot property this week. The Gunners’ flyer has been brought in as part of 8% of the trades made as Fantasy managers look to repair their midfields after recent injuries and suspensions. Interest in Gareth Bale also remains buoyant – like Walcott, he still has everything to play for on the final day and over 6% of transfers this week have seen the Welshman’s services acquired.

Both Philippe Coutinho and Marouane Fellaini are amongst the top five players brought in over the past seven days, as squads continue to shed the injured Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool skipper has made up almost 12% of the transfers out taking place. Strangely, folk are also still shedding Swansea’s Michu, with over 11% of transfers seeing the Spaniard sold on – having scored at Old Trafford and with a strong fixture against Fulham on Sunday, Michu has suddenly become a decent differential option for the final Gameweek.

Despite his hat-trick last time out and an obliging home fixture with QPR on Sunday, Daniel Sturridge has only been brought in as part of 6% of the transfers made this week, with Sky Sports managers perhaps settled on their forward lines and pressed to make changes in other positions. Bizarrely, then, with just over 3% ownership in the game, Sturridge will face QPR as a ready-made differential captain choice for those looking to bridge a gap.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 7pm

Dwight Yorke takes his place in the Fantasy Football Club forward line in tonight’s episode, while Champions Leauge winner, Paulo Sousa, will be stiffening up the midfield. Fenners and Merse kicked-off at 7pm tonight but, if you missed out on that, you can catch the re-run on Sky Sports two from 9.30 tomorrow morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sturridge for me too. Obviously both are good choices, but most of Bale's big scores have come away from home, and QPR are, well, QPR.

Definitely, it's still early days in the Coutinho - Sturridge romance, they are not going to let up because there is nothing to play for. Wigan, on the other hand, have had their chances imo. They know how badly they let themselves down against Swansea and are not going to be able to pick themselves up for this game

I would like to see a league table for football journalists. Each time the have a scope and it's wrong they get negative points, each time they are right they get points.

That way we can quickly learn who to ignore and who is worth listening to. Too often journalists get away with sloppy guess work with little to no repercussions.

leading my ML by 17 points:

    MY team (after FT):
    reina
    baines dawson davies (jones harte)
    michu coutinho bale wally maloney
    rvp tevez (berbs)

    HIS team (after -4)
    hart
    sagna vert demel (shaw martin)
    cazorla coutinho bale wally (puncheon)
    rvp lukaku sturridge

    1) who will win? his defense is much stronger then mine and 17 points aint too much
    2) should i do berbs >> sturridge for a hit? will hedge him out and then i can bench maloney

    other suggestions?

I've narrowed a 40pt ML gap down to 1pt; my rival appears to have brought in Gabby for a front 3 of RVP, Tevez, Agbonlahor

I've 2FT so would you play defensive or play your own game?
    A) Aguero + Lukaku > Studge + Carroll
    B) Aguero + Lukaku > Studge + Agbonlahor
    C) Keep Aguero and just do Lukaku > Studge

It's one of Gabby or Lambert in for Lukaku, judging by how his money in bank has changed. It's a cash league, so I'm desperate to win! Which would you go with?

For future reference it's worth keeping a note of TV & bank values of rivals. Can work out transfers fairly simply.

Especially if a money league, a few minutes on this can be the difference between quids in and quids out.

You can work out transfers fairly accurately at this time of the year - especially if they only make one - using TV & bank.

You can work out roughly which players they're likely to transfer out and which are favourites in. Comparing pre & post transfer TV & bank, allows you to work out most likely option. You can then confirm this with daily price rises & drops.

I do it all the time with my nearest rival. Correct about 70-80% of the time.

More difficult with two transfers, but can be done, especially if done at different times in the week.

Both decent shouts. At times like this I normally go with the tried & tested option - Bale (c)

If he fails, I'll be like 'well it was a sensible choice, so no problems', if Sturridge fails, I'll be like 'why on earth did I trust him with the armband'.

Also Bale has more to play for and reckon Sturridge has already reached his season high (last week). I could of course be wrong...
