We roll out the next instalment of our weekly article for Members this evening, offering an in-depth statistical analysis of the main captaincy contenders for the set of fixtures ahead. This week, more than most, getting the armband call correct looks crucial – given that all of our featured five have acquired at least 12% of the votes cast in the Gameweek 16 Captain Poll, opinion looks split right across the board. Time to delve into the data, then…
Silva is nailed on. He's their joint best player yo
Open ControlsYaya too expensive, no?
Open Controlsi already had Yaya, but if i had a choice i would go for Silva
Open ControlsI would have gone yaya if I had enough money...so still debating Silva -4
Open Controlsstopped reading after you said silva wasn't nailed on
Open Controlswould go for Silva at current prices Sir
Open ControlsYaya is a safe option for me it seems everyone has him in my mini league so I would choose Silva as a differential. Silva is better for the long run as well as long as he doesn't get injured
Open Controlsagreed on differentail variable. thx
would recomend doing gerrard for silva for hit -4? or only as FT next gw?Open Controls
McGregor Mignolet
Santon Lovren Mertesacker Distin Ben
Ward-Prowse Yaya Ramsey Hazard Oviedo
Lukaku Suarez Giroud
Who should be benched? Who's the captain? Thank you very much!Open Controlsmignelot, lovren, mert, ward prowse bench
I image ben is ben turner?Open ControlsWould captain Hazard out of that lot
Open ControlsI got a feeling that Hazard will get a rotation and Oscar will replace him just for this week
Open Controls
I'd bench mertesacker and perhaps lovren.
captain suarez or luluOpen ControlsIs captain Ramsey reasonable?
Open Controls
Anyone please?
considering downgrading defence to free up cash.
thinking of shifting Dawson to one of: chester, williamson olsson or bardsley.
however, the distin bandwagon has got me attention.
1 FT, 0.0 ITB
what do you reckon, distin or the dosh?Open Controlsgood moves. If you get chester then who would you upgrade? Midfield?
Open Controls
This is probably stupid but would you consider playing Brady (STK) over Ramsey?
Open ControlsI would consider it.
Open ControlsMuch of a muchness to be honest. I think Ramsey is more guaranteed to a start to be honest plus more potential of nabbing a goal.
Open ControlsYa true I keep kinda telling myself this. I should just set it and leave it. Keep tinkering though..
Open Controls
Oscar or Silva?
Open ControlsSilva
Open ControlsI would have Oscar but already got 3 chelsea,....so Silva for me
Open ControlsOscar this week.
Silva is more long term I imagine barring anymore injuriesOpen ControlsOscar
Open ControlsSilva
Open ControlsCheers lads, went for Silva in the end. 🙂 . Already have Hazard.
Open ControlsOscar this week. Silva over the next 4-5 weeks.
Open Controls
Here's my team for the weekend.
Howard
Terry,Jagielka,Clyne
Hazard,Oscar,Ravel,Ramsey
Suarez,Lukaku,Aguero
4m,Sessegnon,Burner,Faye
Everything in order?Open ControlsLooks good I have 8 of the same starting
Open ControlsFingers crossed.
Open Controls
Ya I think so. I think Newcastle will score though but Clyne at least has the attacking potential.
Open ControlsClyne or Burner will probably be a last minute call.
Southampton being more solid defensively at the back this season and Newcastle lacking Cabaye have swayed me towards Clyne atm.Open ControlsHave same team apart from Terry/McAuley, Jags/Coleman, Sess/Brady and Faye/Vlaar. Closest I've seen a team to mine.
At the moment I've got Burner over Clyne - thinking CAR at home to WBrom more chance of a cleanie than SOU away to NEWC...
Also on Lukaku (c) and Hazard (vc) thoughts on this Pundy?Open ControlsLike I mentioned above, no Cabaye would hamper Newcastle. I'd also wait to see if Schneiderlin is back for Southampton.
West Brom hardly fail to score and Cardiff concede a lot of shots which also are factors in me playing Clyne over Burner.
Lukaku(c) for me as well Kiwi.Open Controls
Good team but I'd play Burner over Clyne.
Open ControlsCheers mate.
Open Controls
West Brom have failed to find the net in only two games. One of those games was the last one, so perhaps the stats imply that they are due to bulge the onion bag at least once against Cardiff City. Southampton will probably concede at least one goal to Newcastle as well. So, if you're between Burner and Clyne, I would go Clyne simply for the boosted attacking threat.
Open ControlsCheers mate. Clyne injury news may decide it at the end.
Open Controls
WC Midfields are going to be Hazard, Silva, Walcott and 2 rotators I reckon
Open ControlsNot sure about Walcott. Surely you don't imagine everyone ditching Ramsey do you?
Open ControlsAnd I think that will be a bit steep if you are having Aguero & Suarez + 1 up front
Open ControlsYes I think Ramsey will get ditched. I ditched him this week
Open ControlsInteresting. I didn't see a reason to do that. Did you bring in Walcott even though he is just back from injury?
Open ControlsNope just wanted Mirallas as wasn't willing to lose Rooney for Lukaku and figured that Ramsey wont score well in the lead up to the wildcard
Open Controls
night all, cheers!
Open Controlsnight!
Open Controls
So the winner of this years FPL gets the prize of replacing David Moyes at united. Sounds good
Open ControlsDidn't get many responses when I posted this before so could someone help me out?
I have 0.7 in the bank with 1 FT
Krul (Davis)
Clyne Distin Chester (Burner Baker)
Hazard Coutinho Walcott Ramsey (Pozuelo)
Rooney Aguero Suarez
Which would you do?
A) Pozuelo > Redmond
B) Coutinho > Silva
C) Something else if so what?
D) StickOpen ControlsComo estan, beaches? I'm back to help you sort your team out. Fire away.
Open ControlsSanton or Debuchy?
Mucho gracias.Open ControlsAha. A tough one right off the bat. Excellent, Smithers. I'm leaning towards Debuchy, but honestly, I think you can't go wrong either way. Both are attack-minded. Very similar in many regards. You save a 0.1 if ya go Debuchy.
Open ControlsCheers Jack, do you have Lambert in your FPL team, out of interest? 😉
Huge 49ers fan here despite living in the UK my entire life 🙂Open ControlsHa. I do think of Jack Lambert every time I see Ricky Lambert or hear the name. It's an automatic. 49ers, eh? Good team to like. Second to the Steelers in all time Super Bowl wins. One behind, which is why I was kinda rooting for them to lose against the Ravens in this past year's Super Bowl. Of course, the Ravens are a major Steelers rival, so it was kind of a damned if one team wins, damned if the other team wins.
Open ControlsYeah, we've been through quite a barren spell since the days of Montana / Young, Rice, Rathman, Craig, Lott, Romanowski and co!
Feels great to watch the niners with an exciting QB again. Years of watching Alex Smith line up behind center, were excruciating. Get a genuine buzz seeing Kaepernick strutt his stuff! Still a lot to learn but so much potential.
Saw the Steelers at Wembley earlier in the year. Bit of a surprising loss to the Vikings but it was a good game.Open Controls
By the way, I'm Chelsea fan. Kind of a long story. The first game I saw them play on the telly, they were wearing black and gold kits, which reminded me of the Steelers. That had something to do with it. So too did Anelka, but that's where the story takes twists and turns involving a study abroad in Madrid followed by a summer in France living with a family I met through a girl I knew when I was growing up. Crazy world. Never been to England. Dying to go, especially to see a Prem game.
Open Controls
If you're in a giving mood then a little help upstairs^ would be nice. 😀
Open ControlsRamsey or Sessegnon?
Open Controls
Are Pilkington and Snodgrass out this weekend?
Open Controlssign silva now for a hit or play januzai at villa?
Open ControlsRisers- Suarez and Aguero
Fallers- Gerrard,Gardner,RudyOpen ControlsPrice Changes
Risers: Suarez (Up to 12.8) and Aguero (Up to 12.5)
Fallers: Gerrard (Down to 9.0)Open ControlsThat will do.
Open Controls
Thinking of captaining Lukaku this GW, other options Hazard/Suarez. Any obvious reason to change the (c)?
Open ControlsLukaku is your best option imo.
Open ControlsI think Chelsea will score more than Everton this week.....go Hazard. This is a new Fulham playing with confidence and resilience.
Open ControlsLukaku at home....nailed on, and if Del starts, he'll get great service
Open Controls
Would appreciate a quick casting eye over my draft league team...
Mignolet
Coleman/Terry(c)/Shawcross
Mirallas/Walcott/Redmond/Schürrle
Deulofeu/Hooper/Crouch
Bench: Rat/Brady/P.Hernandez/Vertonghen/Amalfitano/Lambert/Bony
Thank youOpen ControlsAin't too shabby now.
Open Controls
How's she looking?
Howard;
Terry, Distin, Burner;
Ozil, Hazard, Ramsey, Ravel;
Suarez, Rooney (C), Aguero.
4m, Rat, Bannan, Ward.
Thanks in advance.Open ControlsFellas, can I please get some early feedback? Haven't done that in a while. Cheers.
A. Lallana > Oscar [double up with Hazard]
B. Lallana > Silva [fit enough to start? tough fixture as well]
C. Lallana > Walcott [fit enough to start? tough fixture as well]
D. Mignolet > Howard [missed the price rises, double up with Coleman]
E. Save FT as team looks pretty good for this week [I can play Chester (HUL) or Lallana (new) or B. Turner (WBA)]
F. Any other ideas?
Mignolet
Terry Coleman Chester
Hazard Ramsey Paulinho Lallana
Aguero Lukaku (c) Suarez (vc)
Lewis, B. Turner, JWP, Ward
1 FT, 2.1 in the bankOpen ControlsB or D. Team looks good so you could potentially save the FT, but I can't see Migs out scoring Howard this week and you'll probably want Howard in soon anyway. Lallana still has tough fixtures and Silva would be a great long term pick but possibly a week early.
Open ControlsThank you -- couldn't disagree there.
Open Controls
You are keeping the faith with Paulinho...
A for me OR hold and B+D next week for me PepsOpen ControlsI bought him two weeks ago and he delivered. His goalscoring record in Brazil has always been decent and so have his stats this season. He has fairly decent fixtures so I will keep him for now.
Open ControlsAhh nice. Was trolling my team most the season. Plays so high up but just couldn't hit the target for me.
Open Controls
F. Paulinho>Oscar
Open ControlsI can't afford that but even so, I am more inclined to keep Paulinho than Lallana.
Open Controls
I would hold. I think Chester has a good chance of returns and that B or C may be better moves next week
Open ControlsI would get rid of Paulinho before Lallana. Ah, maybe not. Both are kind of in scoring limbo right now. I'm not sure where to go here. I just know I don't like that Ramsey, Paulinho, and Lallana threesome in the midfield. It's rubbing me the wrong way, at least for this weekend. You might just want to stick, though. You know what....go Lallana to Silva. That would be my move. It's written in the stars, as Lallana plus your 2.1 equals Silva's value.
Open ControlsGuess Paulinho isn't exactly in scoring limbo if he just scored last gameweek. I was knocking him earlier today, but the more I think about it, the guy could be a good differential. Just needs to learn how to tap a ball into the net. It can't be that hard if he made it this far. Of course, the best don't always make it to the pro's. Often times, it's just the right connections and dumb luck. A scout shows up to practice the day you hit the upper 90 from 35 yards out.
Open Controls
JWP or Jan the man this week?
TIAOpen ControlsAnyone going into the weekend with a forward other than Rooney, Aguero, Suarez or Lukaku?
Open ControlsThis is my team......am i good to go?
Howard
Distin. Terry. Shaw
Haz. Ramsey. Silva ampard
Lukaku Suarez Agueo
SUBS.....Mcgergr. Kasami gabbidon bakerOpen ControlsI've been doing better since I've stopped checking Rate My Team.....I'm sure its coincidence, and Im probably; unbeknownst to me, still doing what RMT would suggest
Open Controls* makes a mental note to never ever use the RMT feature *

Atletico Madrid’s director José Luis Pérez Caminero confirmed he had talks with David Moyes after Atletico’s 2-0 victory over FC Porto in Spain last night.
http://thepeoplesperson.com/atletico-madrid-director-confirms-talks-with-moyes-while-koke-admits-he-isnt-worried-by-speculation/?Open ControlsRight, already going to be a zombie in the office tomorrow. Off to the land of nod.
Night all, happy tinkering.Open Controls@PoP
It sucked all right!
Out of the three subs i made only Uchida gave me 7. The rest two gave 0 each.Lewandowski captain and Osacr points thats all i got! the rest of em gave me bloody 2 pointers!Open ControlsToo bad that.
I had a decent return of 63 points. Farfan,Raul Garcia,Lewa,Cole,Luiz all did the business.
We should have got Neymar though. 🙁 Just realised I would have 90th overall if I had got Neymar and captained him. 😯Open Controls
I have been working nights for a few weeks now and I seem to spend more and more time shrking work and being on here. Shocking isn't it
Open ControlsI am a freelance writer workin' at home, and ever since I signed up for this site and began posting, my work has severely suffered. Must....find.....balance. Aw, screw it. I'll do what I want!
Open Controls
Not another one 😛
Open Controls
Is GJ to Debuchy -4 crazy?
The move frees up funds for Nasri > Silva or Shelvey > Cabaye next week dependent on formOpen Controls
10 years, 9 months ago
How many here going for Yaya over Silva ? (as replacem 4 gerrard)
yaya more nailed on
but gut feeling says silva as diffenrential and more explosive
