With the frantic festive period now behind us, we can finally take stock and assess the statistics over the last few matches. Having last looked at the data in Gameweek 17, we have three sets of matches to investigate – Arsenal’s midfield, Tottenham’s attack and United and City’s frontmen are all placed under the microscope this time around:
top of the DZ, first ever.
May as well mention my FPL CL nominations in case that happens again:
Lauren, EvertonLescott, Dunne, Sessegnon(Sun), Berbatov(Spurs)Open ControlsI think its down to simply theyre better (luck) than you.
Pretty sure the template team around here was a success in GW.
Migno Boruc Ivan Coleman Hazard Strurridge Soldado all scoring well.
Was there a success GW 1 player that become a sucess early bandwagon? Only Yaya comes to mind. Even Ramsey started GW 5ish.Open ControlsIt's something I have thought about as well, but doublegame week 1 in the last 2 years has put me off.
Also, I think taking a 20 point hit in GW2 to jump on any bandwagons etc is surely a better way to go?Open Controls
Alright, WC squad attempt 2:
Marshall (Mannone)
Koscielny, Distin, Gabbidon (Turner, Chester)
Ozil, Silva, Walcott, Oscar (Mutch)
Suarez, Rodriguez, Rooney
Rooney -> Aguero (when healthy) & £0.0 in the bank
-Versus-
Marshall (Mannone)
Koscielny, Gabbidon, Turner (Baker, Chester)
Ozil, Silva, Walcott, Mutch (Sterling)
Suarez, Rooney, Negredo
Negredo -> Aguero (when healthy) & £0.0 in the bank
As always, thanks!Open ControlsLooks good mate. I'm considering 4-4-3 with Colback 4.2m and Noone 4.3m super bench rotation!
Open ControlsStarting in GW4 is really starting to hurt seeing the teams being put together around here. I'm a good 2-3m short of where I should be right now.
I haven't tried hitting the "template" as early as possible; so I'm also paying for that now (hence: no Hazard)
Cheers!Open ControlsI've got Mannone and Myhill; so pretty much the same situation.
I previously had Howard (red card) & Myhill... so, literally none for a game. haOpen Controls
Good to go for this week? Small benching issues.
Mannone
Mertesacker Koscielny Coleman
Silva Hazard Walcott (c) Whittingham
Rooney Adebayor Suarez
Bench: Sterling Terry Ward LewisOpen ControlsI'd play Terry ahead of Whitts.
Chelsea have 3 CS's out of the last 4.Open ControlsWhitts home to West Ham, Looks as good as any for returns right now. I appreciate what you're saying, but coupled with the fact Hull have scored 8 goals in two home games I can't see the CS. I think Coleman will be the most likely 2 pointer but just too illogical to bench!

Most popular captaincy choice on here for this week ? 🙂
Open ControlsWC this week, keep Lukaku or kick out for Adebarndoor?
Open ControlsI am proud to say after a loooong time i am actually thinking of saving a transfer.
Now wait till the cup matches gets played and injuries come flooding back in..sigh..i think i jinxed it already.Open ControlsFuture recurring theme when Agüero, Özil and Ramsey is back.
For 6th and 7th spot in the forward lines:
a) one of Cabaye/Lallana/Eriksen + Rooney
b) 3rd big MID of Hazard/Yaya/Özil + Adebayor/Lukaku
Which road do you fancy?Open ControlsI.e: Silva Walcott Ramsey Suárez Agüero + option A or B
Open ControlsAre you prepared to ignore Cabaye, Lallana and Eriksen? Just curious.. I might
Open Controlsif tottenham really have turned a corner eriksen might push his way into your team. even in conjunction with ade. i have januzaj and he will do for me. united don't seem good. rooney is out on his ass this GW
Open Controls
i vote B. lacks the reliable captaincy prowess of roon but we don't know yet if ade is a viable option for the band. his points suggest he might be. and maybe whoever you cap in his place cud be just as good
Open ControlsI currently have Silva, Walcott, Oscar, Suarez and Rooney. If I did Lukaku to JRod I could do Rooney and Barkley/Sterling to Aguero and Gerrard. Not overly expensive midfield considering but I'd be happy with it and all 'big hitters' in their own right
Open Controlsu cud alternatively keep lukaku for another few nice fixtures and just do rooney+barkley to ade/bony/A N other +any mid you want practically. IMO barkley has to go anyway. eriksen might do nearly as well as stevie g for considerably cheaper
Open Controls
House of Cards anyone?
just about to start it now..Open ControlsHeard good things
Open Controlsit's on the top of my list
new sherlock is out btw... really good stuff if you havent catched itOpen ControlsHave watched up until the new season which I haven't started it yet, kind of want it to just finish so I can just watch them all in a row. Fantastic stuff..
Open Controls
I rather liked the last page 😉
Open ControlsI had got Coleman at 6.5 (after selling him at 5 8). So is shifting to Baines during WC a sensible move?
Open ControlsThat depends very much on how you see the two players points develop ...
Open ControlsI doubt their total scores will be much different overall. differential in your minileague?
Open ControlsIts not the total score i am after..its the score after now..so if what you say is correct then baines would be the better choice because he has a lot of catching up to do. Nobody has Baines in the mini league.
Open Controls
If you can afford it, definitely worth the extra.
They should end up getting similar points in CS, goals and bonus. Baines likely to benefit in assists.Open Controls
I just realized... Lloris is insane
Open Controls- Open Controls
HOLY "CITY" TRINITY. Aguero, Silva, Yaya
POINTS HAUL
YAYA SILVA AGUERO
10 9 12
2 5 5
11 3 2
3 0 1
8 0 13
9 0 0
7 4 7
2 11 16
2 2 8
9 8 18
2 0 2
5 0 15
7 0 1
15 0 6
2 0 6
7 8 5
10 10 0
2 7 0
0 2 0
7 0 0
In short, having all three does not really detract at all from any of the three. As most will never bench Aguero, you can see the points from Silva and Yaya are coming in both consistently and still not detracting from double figure hauls.
A viable Jan WC option. Just have a good first sub.Open ControlsSuddenly you've become the biggest Yaya fan ever. Wonder what caused the drastic change 😉
Open ControlsGiven up going against the grain. Was defeating me morally. LOL
Open Controls
Yaya and Silva have identical average points when all 3 start together.
Open ControlsMaybe start all 3. But would be alot better if City were eliminated from the CL. 🙂
Open ControlsI think you could just do Ozil instead of Yaya..price could drop to 9.8 if we're lucky 😉
Open Controlsu think Ozil will outscore THE YOYO?
Open Controlshe doesn't need rest because he hardly runs and if Giroud/a new striker can convert his passes then he will rack up assists..
he lead all of Europe in assists last season 😉
I do think Yaya is one of the best players in the entire league, but he's redundant with Silva and Kun playing because he'll sit deep and won't take any penaltiesOpen Controls
Morning all 🙂
Open ControlsPlaying around with wc options. Is it too risky to go Mannone and Davis? Trying to cut corners to get the starting front 7 that I want. Other option is to downgrade Mert or Coleman. Would have gone Mert to Koscielny, but Koscielny looks likely to narrow the gap on my Mert selling value.
Open ControlsRoonpig to Adebayor this GW
Sterling to Yoyo next week as preWC punt.
Just gotta have him for at least 1 week this season that guyOpen ControlsHow did i get rank 2 all of a sudden? Does that depend on the number of +1's or something?
Open ControlsWC DRAFT 4-4-2
Manonne Marshall
Coleman Mertesacker Koscielny Baines
Walcott Silva Eriksen Hazard
Aguero Suarez
Ward Colback Behrinho
Would play same XI every week, seems so boring...just swap Eriksen every week for a punt?Open ControlsToo much money at the back for my tastes, but still looks good. Subs are awful. I see value in cheaper defenders, but to each their own.
Open ControlsManonne 4m
Coleman Mertesacker Ward Chester Burner
Walcott Silva Hazard Whittingham Ki
Aguero Suarez Rooney
that was my original planOpen ControlsSimilar to mine. I might not take Rooney and opt for Sturridge until his next injury. Allows a mid upgrade. Has me waiting on returns of Kun and Stur
Open Controls
Interesting. Doubling up goes 2 ways.
Rather the 3rd forward.Open ControlsManonne Davis
Coleman Mertesacker Koscielny Baines Ward
Walcott Silva Hazard Noone Colback
Aguero Suarez Adebayor
better, TM?Open Controls433 = too much reliance on CS especially with 2 lots of doubling.
If they keep CS then you should score better than the 4th mids of other sides.Open Controls
:/ my rule #1 is never play more than 3 defenders. there might be 3 or so GWs a season where fixtures dictate you do but i'd never make a habit of it. attackers just have too big an upside. plus extra captain options. capping a defender seems too weird. 2 big hitters u play practically every week then just choose between 3 Cheapies for the last berth. one will always have a good fixture
Open Controls
RVP or Aguero (If i Get Aguero i will have 3 city players, Yaya, Silva, Aguero), Too much of a risk?
Open ControlsRVP is too expensive and will hurt your team balance. I'd go with Aguero.
Then consider changing Yaya or Silva to one of the other big 3 players: Hazard, Walcott, Ozil
With that said; I don't personally hate having 3 City attackers. They are not likely to slow down with their goal scoring threat; when Aguero is unleashed.Open Controls
With a team of.....and 40k or so...with 110m
What to do lads??? Gks and morrisson and forwards need fixing
Krul
Terry evra Coleman
Yaya hazard cabaye walcott
Lukaku suarez giroud
Myhill morrisson chester burnerOpen ControlsWhats so very annoying is i shipped Ade ahead of the united match and knew i wanted him in january. Now we know he is fine and giroud is a no go...that makes sense. I have a murderous wc team if ur interested mate

Great article on the Theo Walcott and the "world class" tag debate
http://www.gunnerstown.com/arsenal/2013/06/30/theo-walcott-efficiency-consistency-and-world-class-status/Open ControlsHe has fulfilled his potential I feel now, will only get better. amazing he's been around for 8 years, still loads to come from him. England XI:
Hart
GJ Jags Timmy Cashley/Baines
Gerrard Carrick
Walcott Rooney Townsend/Welbeck
SturridgeOpen ControlsNo love for Ross eh? Shame Gerrard HAS to play as he's the captain. IMO you don't need him with Carrick and Rooney pulling the strings.
Open Controls
This is one of the few debates in English football where i'll always gloat a little and always told my friends (more so now) that he'd become one of the best players in the world. And he will. He's still only 24, he's crazy fast, a great finisher, and is getting better with his decision making all the time. When i told my friends that he'd score more than Henry they laughed at me, but why can't he? He has time, his team is getting better, and he's nowhere near his peak.
Theo is the real deal.Open Controls
Hows this for Jan WC Draft?
Mannoune, Davis,
Coleman, Terry, Ward, Burner, Chester
Hazard, Ozil OR YAYA, Walcott, Silva, Mutch
Adebayor, Suarez, AgueroOpen ControlsLacks an Arsenal defender.

Who to captain this week, safe with Walcott/Suarez or differential with jay rod?
Open ControlsNo love for Rooney (C) if he's declared fit?
3 double figures in last 5 starts.Open ControlsI think the worry of injury is putting some people off.
I'm leaning Suarez; as he's due to explode again.Open Controlson a cold night in the Britannia where both Agüero and Hazard have blanked? Something to think about.
Open Controls
He played defensive mid against spurs and was never in the mix or looked like scoring. That's probably due to carrick being injured, if he's back that would change - not sure when he is though

It's better not to know. Lots of Granville being miffed and pretending to care goes a long way.

3 games now that Luis Suarez has't done anything from open play albeit two games were away to Chelsea and City.
Warrants an investigation if the league has finally uncovered how to handle him.Open ControlsAll the top clubs have handled him this year. Very blah record against the top 5.
Open ControlsFlat track bully eh? 😉
BTW I think we're being harsh to him and Pool when we say that. He hasn't faced a single top team at home this season. Pool have only faced Utd at home which Suarez was suspended.
Imagine if Liverpool make 1-2 key signings. Could they be title contenders? I think the league is underestimating their potential here.Open ControlsTrue but 0 goals against MU, ars, mc, and che is still disappointing for one if the best strikers in the world. I think the fault lies more in the team than Suarez. He scores a number of goals that seem to come from pure individual effort. It has to tougher to do that against the ManC and Chelseas. I don't think his teammates have yet risen to give him the support needed to score against the tougher clubs. Liverpool's record against the top 8 teams this season has just not been good enough.
Open Controlsnowhere near contenders imo.
not going to finnish higher than 4thOpen Controls

Who is WCing from the DZ?
Open ControlsO\
Open ControlsNOt me. I have 2 free transfers and don't know what to do.
Open Controlssaving for aguero/potential punt in gwk23/end of window (falcao)
Open ControlsI think I'm coming around and will wildcard early and save some money aside to swap one of my forwards to Aguero when possible (not a problem; as I will still have my FT).
Going early will mean getting the best prices on the popular template players and you can utilize them for 1-3 extra weeks before your competitors.
Granted, trades may blow up your plans; but you can deal with that as it happens.Open Controls
End of Jan
Open ControlsWaiting until the 18th. 10 days until the lock of GW23 gives time to play some prices for a bit and try to raise any amount of free money. The 28th also coincides nicely with the return to fitness/form of all the big hitters, not to mention the chance for a few transfers to already be complete.
That and then my team should be solid still for GW24 allowing me to save and have 2 FT for GW25 when new transfers from outside the PL have had a bit of a chance to gel with their new clubs.Open Controls
i like that last team Bowie. possibly kosc over mert. saves a chunk of cash and is a differential i'm guessin. but if u've had mert for a while it'd be crazy to jettison unless at a point where their immediate fixtures are terrible. don't even know what you'd do with the money. nastasic is another defender i'd be considering

Interesting. Here's something I've thought about ever since FPL messed up at GW1 and gave everyone a free WC to kick off the season.
Of all of the teams who started in GW2 (that is, earned -0- points for GW1), the best ranking team is #2,059
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/2529941/event-history/20/
Essentially, you could pay a penalty of one GW worth of points to have a more informed team.
Then again...
I started GW1, currently ranked 94K ... there are 222 managers out there who are ranked above my team despite missing GW1 points.
Maybe I should dip a toe in the water next season with a second team?
