The Weekend Team News

Arsene Wenger expects Laurent Koscielny to be available for Arsenal’s home game against Palace. Roberto Martinez has doubts over a quartet of players for Everton’s trip to Leicester. Loic Remy will be assessed prior to QPR’s opener with Hull, Sam Allardyce rules out Matt Jarvis for London derby with Spurs, while West Brom boss Alan Irvine confirms Joleon Lescott and James Morrison will miss the visit of Sunderland:

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he will be without his World Cup winning trio for the visit of Crystal Palace. The Gunners boss has suggested that Laurent Koscielny should be fit and available to face the Eagles, though, after the defender was subbed off in last week’s Community Shield win over City with an Achilles problem. Theo Walcott, David Ospina, Serge Gnabry and Ryo Miyaichi are all sidelined through injury, though Abou Diaby has returned to full training.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and new signing Christian Atsu will all be assessed before a decision is made on their availability for tomorrow’s visit to Leicester. The trio were all involved in the World Cup and have had a limited pre-season. Meanwhile, Seamus Coleman has returned to training after a hamstring injury, though Martinez concedes it’s still too early to tell whether the defender will be available for the weekend.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp remains hopeful that Loic Remy will be ready to feature against Hull, with the Frenchman expected to take part in training. Elsewhere Adel Taarabt seems likely to miss out, with Redknapp going on to say that the Moroccan isn’t yet fit having not participated in training at all during pre-season.

Matt Jarvis has been ruled out of the London Derby with Spurs through injury and joins Andy Carroll on the sidelines, confirms Allardyce. New signing Enner Valencia looks likely to miss out, with the Hammers boss “still waiting” on the Ecuadorian to get up to full fitness.

West Brom could hand a debut to summer signing Brown Ideye, with the Nigerian in contention to make the squad, for the home game against Sunderland, according to Alan Irvine. The Baggies boss though, has ruled out both James Morrison and Joleon Lescott, though, with both missing out through knee injuries.

Paul Lambert has confirmed Ron Vlaar will be available for Villa’s trip to Stoke. The Dutchman has played just 45 minutes of pre-season after featuring in the World Cup but his manager revealed he has “no worries” over the defender’s fitness levels for tomorrow’s match.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

GW1 for sure. But they have CL playoffs in the first 3 gameweeks or, as well. Tough to tell if there's a bit of rotation because of that, though.

Mannones in as my only keeper.

Going to be a nervy wait for the line ups tomorrow, but pretty confident he's first choice. Watch him rack up those saves!

I guess in one way it's not too nervy as if he doesn't start then your first GW is a bit undercut but your GW2 transfer is obviously to swap to the next best £4.5m before they rise.

I think as long as mannone starts I'm happy to keep him for the season. Those save points he gets are just crazy and should keep some more shut outs this year.

But yeah he'll be gone if he doesn't start. I don't actually think pants is too much competition to their player of the year last year

rank these 4.5 defenders based on short term potential (3-4 GWs), since most of them are rotation risk beyond that:

    A) Chambers
    B) Naughton
    C) Blackett
    D) Chester

Assuming they start all games (they won't):

      ABCD.

Realistically in terms of what minutes I think they'll get and their CS potential:

      BADC

Overall, I'd pick D and have one worry less.

What's you thought on United landing some major transfer poo-Nani, yay or nay:
    Di Maria
    Juan Cuadrado
    Daley Blind
    Arturo Vidal
    Rojo
Mats Hummels (can't see it happening)
Personally, I'd be happy with Blind and Vidal, but reality is they may only get their hands on Vidal...just (bookies have him down to 1/10). Think Cuadrado is extremely overrated, for a man that was struggling to get his game 3 years ago in a poor Udinese team, he seems a flash in the pan in recent months. Same goes for Rojo, impulse buy due to Shaw's injury.

Want a Tottenham defender from GW2 onwards. Plan is to play Chambers GW1 and keep 0.5m in the bank. If there are no other issues that come up after GW1, Chambers > Davies/Rose whoever starts in GW1.

It makes sense - the only thing I'd caution against is planning your transfer like that - there are almost certainly going to be other issues to address.

Personally I reckon Davies will play, you don't spend eight figures on a fullback to sit on the bench.

This is really doing my head in now.

I reckon cesc should do better than nasi and silva but if I go with cesc ill have no city cover which seems a bit silly? I have Costa for Chelsea

I wouldn't worry about coverage. Go with the one who will score the most points.

Don't worry about coverage - get Fabregas which is what I've done.

Silva always liable to injury and he's rarely explosive. Nasri is a good option but Fabregas is a better one imo.

    Dzeko or Jovetic

If Jovetic, then I'd just bank the 0.5m so I still have the option of switching to the other £8.5m strikers should i need to.

I've gone with Jovetic on the basis of form and fitness levels. Also saving 0.5M for Bony/Giroud/Dzeko/whatever.

I've had Eriksen from the start and he's survived all the tweaks I've made but now I'm thinking is Lamela the better option?

    What's everyone's thoughts?

Wait and see with Lamela, he hasn't played well in a competitive football match for about 16 months and it's not a small amount of money.

£9.5m is quite a lot to spend on rotating keepers.

      I'd go Begovic.

Really stuck on my 4th midfielder, which of these would you go with?

    A - Siggy
    B - Wilshere
    C - Arnautovic
    D - Henderson

Really tempted by a punt on Wilshere as I can see him getting forward a lot more but know all the others are probably safer options..

I quite like Henderson personally. Absolutely nailed in a team with a lovely GW1 fixtures and some (note some) potential to get a lot more attacking points this year.

It's easy to transfer when Siggy bombs or explodes but that's not going to happen either way in GW1.

I think Ben Davies is (although can't rule out some rotation given Europa) because you don't spend close to eight figures on a left back and bench him.

    13m in bank

    A) Mutch + Pellè
    B) Sterling + Zamora
    C) 4.5m + Jovetic

    Rest:
Midfield: Hazard, Mata, Siggy and Ramsey
    Attack: Costa and Rooney

    Thoughts?
