Angel di Maria could be poised for his United debut at Burnley after joining from Real Madrid on Tuesday, though compatriot Marcos Rojo is unlikely to receive a work permit in time. Shinji Kagawa sustained concussion in the cup loss at MK Dons and looks set to miss out, with Louis van Gaal stating United now have 10 injured players as they head to Turf Moor.
Bojan Krkic has returned to full training after missing Stoke’s midweek cup match. Mark Hughes is without Geoff Cameron, though, while fellow right-back Phil Bardsley is a doubt – the summer signing has failed to train all week with a knee problem.
Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined with injury as Arsenal head to Leicester. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that keeper David Ospina in back in full training but is likely to miss out on the clash against Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners.
Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) is a doubt for West Brom’s trip to Swansea with a thigh problem. Victor Anichebe is expected to recover from a groin complaint, whilst Gareth McAuley, James Morrison and Cristian Gamboa are all in the squad after featuring in the midweek cup clash with Oxford.
Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins has picked up a hamstring injury and is out of the Hammers’ home match against Southampton, while new boy Diafra Sakho is a doubt with a back problem.
The Saints, meanwhile, have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only wide man Lloyd Isgrove, along with long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, ruled out by Ronald Koeman.
Cheick Tiote remains out for Newcastle’s home encounter with a hamstring problem. Jack Colback has recovered from the knock that saw him miss the Capital One Cup clash with Gillingham and, along with young winger Rolando Aarons, is in the Magpies’ squad.
Harry Redknapp has revealed Charlie Austin – who missed out last week with a hamstring problem – will be assessed again today before deciding whether the frontman can return to training. Alejandro Faurlin is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the midweek cup loss to Burton Albion.
Wilfried Zaha looks poised for his Palace debut bow at Newcastle after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal yesterday. Joe Ledley could be set to miss Palace’s trip to Newcastle with the groin problem sustained in the warm-up prior to last week’s loss to West Ham. Scott Dann is in with a chance of recovering from a thigh knock, though.
