Monitor – Raheem Sterling

The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Oh here I go, my first public table for members. Be nice πŸ˜‰ I've created a FFP index, Fantasy Football Potential Index. I started with mids. I am analyzing last 4 matches so form is included too. I've included all the stats that the highest correlation with actual attacking fantasy football points. Check it out and tell me opinion. I've sorted by SiB.

    Here it is http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/189/

Yeah I know. But it is not him, Liverpool are the problem. They simply don't score goals. And someone mentioned that young players sometimes don't live up there stats. That comes with years upcoming. And I remember last year he has a way much higher conversation rate. He isn't proven, maybe last year was one of. He is still good IMO, but he isn't a heavy hitter IMO

And he plays rejuvenated New side (didn't concede to City away tonight) and then Chelsea.

Tough next 2 fixtures, no doubt! Could be goals in both games though. Sterling's stats and returns to date indicate he's central to all Liverpool's final third forays... I'm happy to back him in and see how he fares against the Toon.
Following next 2, Liverpool have cpl, STO, lei, SUN.

I agree with that. His stats and record so far have earnt him a chance against Toon for me. If he doesn't perform then out before the Chelsea game.

Newcastle did get a good result tonight, but in my mind that could be a good thing. The only consistent thing about Newcastle this season has been their inconsistency

Interesting article. As a matter of curiosity, does anybody know what the average goal conversion % is? Or at least what you'd expect a top midfielder like Sterling to be achieving?

6% seems ridiculously low and given the attempts he's sure to start firing again in the future.

    1. Stoke me a Clipper
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 18 days ago

I'd expect him to be doing better than 6%. It's the fact that the forward line isn't helping him. Like the article said, I think once Sturridge is back then he'll start racking em up again.

Balotelli is too greedy and just shoots from everywhere. Hence to 22 attempts and 0 goals...

Reckon Sanchez will be involved in a goal, Hazard should be against QPR but not too sure.

Sterling, despite the form that has annoyed me no end, could do well against Newcastle and it's those points plus the -8 that could hurt you.

Alcarez v Bert there's only one winner though.

Future footballers will be two footed robots according to this...
