For the final time, we assess the Scout leagues in a variety of Fantasy games after the campaign drew to a close at the weekend, with leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports to look back on. In addition, we reveal the winner of the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI Final and find out who was the champion of champions in our Scout Picks Community Challenge.
FPL, Fantasy Football Scout League. Winner: Simon March, Overall Ranking 1
Simon March, known to many on FFScout as Dufflinks, won the Scout League and Members League and was also crowned world number one in the FPL game. Since claiming the number one spot in Gameweek 23 his sensible approach to transfers, which involved saving his wildcard until Gameweek 34 and taking no hits, was enough to see him over the finishing line. A goal from his captain Sergio Aguero, allied with a commanding lead going into the final Gameweek, proved pivotal and made up for the fact that his final transfer of the season (Seb Larsson to Yannick Bolasie) failed to pay off. Simon finished on 2,470 points, 21 ahead of his nearest rival.
Jon Sumner (aka Jinswick), rose from fourth to second in the final Gameweek of the season thanks to an audacious pair of transfers involving a hit. Out went Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard and in came Theo Walcott as vice captain and Diego Costa as captain, with his new recruits scoring four goals between them. In the end, his final Gameweek net score of 69, which gave him a total of 2449, was just short but cemented a place in FFScout folklore for his bravery and a second place finish overall.
Kev Gleave dropped from second to third and finished with a respectable final Gameweek score of 46 points, thanks to a goal from Jamie Vardy and his captain Aguero. Hanging onto Eden Hazard, who claimed an assist and two bonus points, also helped secure a final points tally of 2439. He also matched his league placing in the overall rankings.
Mariusz Fyrstenberg retained the fourth spot after drafting in Walcott and Christian Benteke for a hit. With a net score of 52 Mariusz finished sixth in the overall rankings with a final points tally of 2427, also thanks to goals from Aguero, Harry Kane and Esteban Cambiasso.
In fifth was Stuart Shingler, who was another non-mover as the season came to a close. He finishes on 2406 points and an overall rank of 13. Santi Cazorla, Aguero, Vardy and Jeffrey Schlupp were his stars in Gameweek 38.
FPL,FFS Members League. Winner: Simon March, Overall Ranking 1
As mentioned above, world number one Simon March also won this season’s FFS Members league. In second is Jack Wain, who comments under the name Jawain. He finished on 2415 points and ninth in the overall rankings, while Stuart Shingler took third place in our Members league.
Ultimate Fantasy Premier League. Winner: Damian Lindall – Overall Ranking 3
Damian Lindall clung onto first place to win our UFPL league and finished third overall with a total of 2,847 points. This came despite his Gameweek 38 captaincy of Romelu Lukaku letting him down. In second is Milanista on 2837, while Sean Tobin climbed to third place and finished on 2782. Amongst the top ten was fifth placed Alex Bowers, who won the Beta version of the game last season and remains one to watch in our UFPL league next season.
Sky Sports Fantasy Football. Winner: Geoff Pryor – Overall Ranking 1
After finishing fifth overall in last year’s Sun Dream Team, Geoff Pryor has done even better in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game, taking first place in our league and the overall rankings. His score of 2432 points was 37 ahead of second placed Katie Burgin, while John Eaton, with a score of 2432 took third. Katie’s score was enough to clinch fourth spot in the overall rankings, while John finished in fifth. Geoff scoops the top prize in the game of £30,000.
Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup XI. Winner: Mark
Mark’s sensational end of season run, that saw him claim an overall rank of 42, also earned him victory in the final of the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup XI. He defeated faux_C by seven points thanks to drafting in Ulloa and keeping the faith in Hazard’s ability to recover from dental surgery. Mark wins £125 worth of free bets with Paddy Power for winning the Cup and gaining the highest score of the round. He can also treat himself to a £100 Amazon voucher as winner. Faux-C picks up £50 of free bets and a £50 Amazon voucher. Meanwhile, Hutton Dressed as Lahm won the third place play off against Hammers XI 46-43 and wins £50 of free bets and a £25 Amazon voucher.
FFScout Community Scout Picks Champion of Champions: Kings of Lyon
Kings of Lyon has won a £100 Amazon voucher after gaining the highest Gameweek score of the season among our Community Champions, who are selected each week by the community to help compile our Scout Picks. His Gameweek 36 score of 77 proved unbeatable. In our Scout Picks Challenge, Jonty (that’s me) emerged with the highest total over the season with 2011, followed by Paul on 1946, Mark on 1933 and the community champion’s final overall total was 1893, after Andy85wsm’s Gameweek 38 tally of 41 points was added in.
